I just wanted to leave a bit of a message here,
It has been an absolute pleasure watching your videos of Greenland, despite everything that has been going on. Thank you for all your videos. Last time I commented was, at the start of this brutish war, that has affected mine and the lives of those close to me in too many horrid ways. It has led to many atrocities, yet, here I am, despite everything; betrayal, hardships, I have clawed my way to a good university. I intend to learn the skills necessary to leave a mark on the world that leaves it better, and having learnt more and more about Greenland I think the country should have a vital position in the next chapter of the world.
If someone stumbles upon this, who’s going through similar unbearable pain, push through it. If not for anything else, but to embrace the fire that exists in you to keep going forward. I know it’s hard, but I also know that it’s worth the difficulty.
I intend to travel to Nuuk at least next summer to explore Greenland first hand, and perhaps network with some like-minded people there. I once again, wish to thank you, for all your awesome content Alex. I’ll be sure to stay tuned for whatever is next!

Not sure what to say... Your message is strong and I hope you come through on the other end, with more power and that you dont get too disappointed in this world. Although it can be disappointing at times,..
So as you say finding a meaning, a goal or anything else that will keep you going is very worthwhile.
Thanks and let me know if your ways takes you to Nuuk!

I love your content. For some reason ever since I was a kid I've always wanted to visit Greenland. Something about it on the map always called my attention, especially since it's rarely talked about.

In 2024 we open a new international airport in Nuuk, hopefully with direct routes to new places!

I always felt the same about Alaska, but I was able to visit Iceland and Greenland which satisfied the Arctic itch within me, which I had since childhood.

Where I live in the US, hunting is very popular & most hunters are avid conservationists.
In my area, deer hunting is very popular.
It's almost necessary as their population is massive.
I can sit on my back deck in the Summer & watch groups of 7-15 deer eat pears that have fallen from the tree almost every single evening.

I can understand the meat-based culture of Greenland, especially as you have to provide for your working dogs as well, and the grocery stores aren't always open. When my wife and I were in Kulusuk, we understood we were in a hunting community. But I think fishing should be sufficient for most needs, which is because the Greenlandic population centers are near the coast. I haven't eaten meat myself for 25 years since meeting my veggie wife. I don't miss it, esp. as there are so many taste-and-texture satisfying alternatives. But I understand that those probably aren't available in Greenland. I would miss red wine before I could ever miss meat -- although people would argue the two are meant to go together, LOL. I can be comfortable with hunting if it's for a distinct purpose, even though I could never do it. I would have to be at starvation point.

Lucky you live in Nuuk, only took you around 6 hours. If you live in Northern part, like Disko Bay area, you have to sail around 100km south to hunt for reindeer and the whole trip can take a week or so. Awesome video.

Thanks for sharing this great video.
Probably in Greenland the prices are very high and also the inhabitants of this wonderful land sometimes try to hunt some reindeers and then put them in the freezer, while in the past I think that the Inuit people hunted for survival. But today the situation is quite different as many species of animals are at risk of extinction. I am not against hunting at all if done wisely and with common sense.

I'm giving you a "like" and playing the video to the end so you get credit. I have my sound off and am not watching the video. I believe in hunting if it's the last resort. I abhor hunters that hunt for trophy animals. I respect you so much Alex and you have a great channel. I just can't watch the video, though.

Im fully aware this video isnt for everyone, which was why I excluded certain aspects.
To be clear we are not going trophy hunting, but we use the meat for food, instead of buying pig, cattle or other animal based meats

Hey Alex any chance you could send me some rein deer meat? Maybe we could trade for some Indiana whitetail deer steaks?

Hehe, although I would enjoy having everyone experience tasting reindeer meat, I also know that the meat in my freezer is gonna disappear fast😅
Not even to mention the costs of sending frozen goods to the states😄
      But thanks for the offer!
BTW I spent a year in Colorado in 2008/2009 and during that time visited my friend who also was an exchange student in Indiana! Only things we shot in Indiana were bullfrogs though😎

Eating meat isn't necessary. I haven't eaten it for 38 years. IMO it's wrong to take the life of another being. I grew up in a traditional family who ate meat but made the decision to give it up at 20 years old. I have never missed it AT ALL. It really wasn't that good. I would have a lot more trouble giving up chocolate lol. It was weird when we visited Greenland, seeing a rifle in the boat and knowing it was used to kill seals. Not just because of the hunting, but because I'm from the UK where we rarely see guns, and I had never seen a rifle before, only the guns carried by police at airports.

Do you preserve meat by curing, smoking or drying or fermentation as in salamis or biltong?
Or is a permafrost freezer the only indigenous System?
