This is how my dad described how my grandparents did it when he was young back in the 60s. I can't wait to show him this video

Just tried this a couple days ago and I don't think I'll make panfish any other way. The flavor was amazing and the bones are really not that hard to deal with. You also get MUCH more meat per fish, which is good because there's nothing more I hate than wasting perfectly good food. Next time I'm going to strip the meat off the bones and use it for fish tacos.

Just came on through Cats and Carp. I'm already hooked. The way you carry yourself reminds me of the man that introduced me to fishing. I'm going to have to try this out. never cooked bluegill with skin ever. Looks amazing and probably tastes even better! Subed.

great to see someone who knows just how good a whole fried bluegill tastes. Only thing I would add is that you should also try cutting them down both sides of the dorsal fin down to the tail. then make diagonal cuts down both sides. try this and you can peel most of the meat right off virtually bone free. It also helps cook the whole bluegill faster. Great video.

Your right these fish are the best especially when your camping out. Wrap em in some tin foil and some spices. Throw them by the fire... I would never eat the dorsal fin though. Anyway nice video!

I can only eat catfish whole and salmon with the skin on.... I can honestly tell you that there is a lot of flavor in the skin on a fish and I love it that way. Whole or filet with skin on

  • @TeamShoelace

Nice, might have to try getting one of the Bubba blades to bring along. Good tip about leaving the skin on as well; we always take the skin off of crappie and bluegill.

Missed a lot of meat on the fillets, just follow the backbone to the ribs and remove, remember to remove small pin bones, other then that, still looks great.

I prefer to just season them with a bunch of stuff then fry them that way. When i add breading i dont like how it makes the meat stick to the bone a little more. Take a fish and just sprinkle some different spices and drop it right in. Mmmmm mmm
