@31Hosaf Items like mushrooms, carrots, onions etc. can become infected with botulinum if not dehydrated first as it thrives in low oxygen conditions and can be lethal if ingested.
Bought one of these a few months ago. I worked it hard for about a week maybe. Then it started to give me trouble by not sealing the jars anymore, and it was very hard to get it on the jar. So, I asked my husband to take a look at it. Then he tried to seal a jar. He said the rubber part on the inside was dry. So, he said to put a little oil (vegetable) on it, and I did. Guess what it started working again. So, now I keep a little bowl with a tiny amount of vegetable oil near where I am working. I dip my finger in it and go around the rubber rim, and this lets it slide onto the jar completely with ease. There is no need to think you vacuum sealer is broken. Still going strong, and even got my younger sister doing this too. I also gave her this advise.
Absolutely phenomenal FOR A MINUTE!!!!!!!!! We received this a few weeks ago and we have used it with out wide mouth mason jars a lot! It has been fantastic and very effective. THEN, we tried putting the regular mouth jar attachment on the mechanism and it wouldn't work. NOW, the wide mouth section will no longer work either. It's kaput! I hate that because it was wonderful for the brief length of time it worked. 🥵🥵🥵🥵
Thank you for the video! I made the mistake of keeping the screwtop of the jar and the lid on the jar and was wondering why it would not seal! Silly me, you don't need the screw top part! Thanks again for enlightening me.
Thank you for doing this video. It’s a simple product to use, but the first time I tried it there was no seal. Just watching you was great- I tried it again and it worked.
I bought this exact same model sealer and it works great. In the past, I have a dedicated brake bleeder in the kitchen which I use on jars and it works great, but it is a manual operation....builds muscle though. Haha. Quick question:. After sealing, I have to wait several minutes until I can physically get the device off of my jars. Am I the only one?
Thanks for showing the red line in the middle. After unlocking the part to do the wide mouth jar I thought I didn't have the small mouth part back on correctly because the line was in the middle. Now I know it is fine.
I purchased one of these based mostly on recommendations I've heard on You Tube videos. I have to admit that this device does fail ... maybe 20% of the time. Most of the fails I've experienced have been with the narrow mouth jars. I am using quality Ball Mason Jars and Lids. I know what to look for when there is a fail, and up to now, I've never seen anything obvious with the Jar Lip or the lid. So, I am not sure where the problem lies, but there have been others who have had the same issue.
Just received one yesterday. Love it. A bit difficult to separate the sections at first. Had to use rubber grips to separate the first couple times. Good thing hubby is strong. Still, very glad we purchased it.
Hi, I got mine today, it needed charging as it was only at 30%. Does a green light flash when it's charging and also how long does it take to charge? Thanks for any help. Jude, from Kentucky ✝️🐴🇺🇸⚒️🇺🇸
Ours are going in two months with no problem at all. Love ours a lot! I’ve heard some folks only let them go about 25-30 seconds but we always let ours go until they stop. That may very well be the problem.
I received mine about a week ago. I am using fmdry ingredients but the lid comes off when I take the sealer off. I'm using g the lids that came with the sealer.
So my mason genie arrived and it's been great but I'm having an issue with a taller wide mouth jar not sealing. I used a new lid, made sure all was clean and no lid damage and it still won't seal. My unit is at 73% charged and works on the smaller jars. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊
I just received my second one, returning the first because I can't unlock it. I CANNOT unlock the new one either, it won't budge. What's the secret????
I have leftover broth from chuck Roast. Will this work for that? I know nothing about canning. Would it be ok if not refrigerated or do u still need to refrigerate canned liquids?
@@sandis6816 usually about a year. You could also use some oxygen absorbers to help it store longer. You can usually tell when they start to get soft they need to be used up

Q-Can you please tell me if these style of vacuum jar sealers, have to use the lids provided or can I use any Mason Jar Lids from other stores and is it possible to use a lid more than once? Thank you
Yes! You can use any lid not just the ones that come with them and you can use lids more than once. I use ones that I had canned with previously and they still work as well. Let me know if you have any other questions I will be happy to answer them!
Reason on dry goods is to get the air out. Air has moisture in it which will spoil the food quicker. For longer lasting, keep in cool, dry, dark place if possible.
@@EnolaVanderhoef I use a bottle opener you have the pointed side and the flat side always use the flat side. I use that with vacuum, sealed items and canning jars to open them too
Reminder to everyone you can ONLY vacuum seal DRY contents. Everything else must be can by pressure canning or water bath canning.
Why?
Thank you! This is exactly what I was wondering

I have a friend that's using it for her pepper jellies and fruit jelly and she said it works perfectly and don't have to hot bath the jars.

Putting oil on the rubber on the machine or on the seals of lids?

We have used for sealing like left over soup to refrigerate for later in the week or so it works fine.
I never thought about trying that! Great idea!
Thank you, I bought this and haven’t used it yet. It looks so easy!
I would love ideas of what food items I can use in the mason jars to use the vacuum sealer.
Have the sealed jars been checked weeks later to see if the suction held? Read that it was a problem with some other sealers.

I have this sealer and love it, it works great. Today the suction wasn't working, the time counter was working but no suction. How do I fix that?
My concern is if this is ideal for storage of regular non-dehydrated products such as tomatoes and other vegetables. Have you tried them?
Vacuum seal like this is only for dry. You will have to do traditional methods for the other
It does work well with the large mouth jars..however for some reason the small lip does not work so well.
Agreed! I love this thing ❤️

how well does it work with liquid ingredients in the jar?
My VP05 too tight pulls the lid off most of the seals anyway i could stop that ?
This is neat. I need to get me one of those.

I wouldn’t recommend using it for liquids. You do need to keep it refrigerated. I would pour it into ice cubes and freeze it.
This is great. I wonder how long the charge last....thank you!
It’s been a couple weeks since I charged it, and it’s still charged!

No, it has to be dry product
It doesn’t work with jars in Austria..
How does this work when you have a solid lid between the vacuum sealer and the air you are removing? Makes no sense to me.
I really wish I could tell you I’m not sure how it works, but it does. I will have to look into exactly how it works! Great question!

I guess you could but I don't want the liquid to get into the sealer. I use the attachment to the Foodsaver for that
Why 30 seconds?
It shuts it self off
Do you no when to stop it? Like why just 30secs iis that what directions say
