- After a few questions about setting the Crosstourer up for off-road work, here are my suggestions to help you protect the motorcycle during your BIG BIKE ADVENTURES.

Crosstourer all the way! Great review mate!
I really like your bike... Salutes from Costa Rica.
Thx for the advices. I hadn't had a radiator guard, but now I have one! ;-)
Dude..... you only have 700 subscribers, you'll need more than that for Honda to buy you a Africa Twin! BUT... Your videos Are really good and I like Them myself, Im sure if you keep up the good work, keep making cool videos, Your Subs will definitely get up there man! Thanks for sharing.
Hahaha, thanks mate. I live in hope that a new AT will arrive any day. You dont get if you dont ask. ;-)
nice little Roost
Fantastic looking bike. Mine has a rear hugger. Not sure if it's fitted as standard but it's definitely hugging the wheel. Would you take this off?
It depends on how much dirt you ride. I have one on my latest 12X but don’t do much dirt on that bike anyway. They aren’t hard to take off or on..
Very nice and informative video, thumbs up!
Thanks mate. I appreciate the feedback and hope Mr Honda is listening. 😂
Big Bike Adventures Me too, I've been doing videos for them a while now :D
+iSlander hahaha
Thankyou
Having dropped mine a few times I would also recommend a brake snake on both the brake and gear lever. I'm also considering fitting the folding gear lever of the Africa to this.
What is the Ram ball on the Givi Sump guard for? Camera?
BTW for anyone else watching dont get the SW Motech Sumpguard. Sure it looks neater than the Givvi, but it just doesnt have the same protection level.
Thanks for the comment Rob. Good idea, I agree with your suggestions, and yes the lower perspective on some of other videos is from the Ram mount on the bash guard. I purchased the Givi because it appeared more protective than the SW Motech so your comments are valid.
Could you give links to bash plates, radiator guards, footpegs, etc. Brilliant video and very helpful, hoping to kit it out like yours! I'm 6ft5 are you similar height?
Hi Chris, thanks for your comment and questions.
I’m 6”2 so not a tall, but I am very short for my weight. 😉
The bash plate is the Givi Trekker (RP1110), it’s pretty hard core and mine has taken a beating and laughed.
The pegs are SW Motech cant find the part number.
If I was still using it as my main off-road bike I would have purchased some engine case guards as well.
All the best.
@@BigBikeAdventures top man! Thanks for that, if you can think of anything else that might be handy in the xmas wish list give me a shout (also saw your suspension upgrades vid, v interesting) and I'll sort out some engine case guards also. Come on Honda, give this guy some royalties! You're the main reason I got a bloody cross tourer in the first place! Awesome bit of gear. Take care.
Chris Oram hahah, I get accused of that all the time.
I can’t have done much of a job as they are not continuing with them. 😌😔
I can’t remember where I got the Rad guard, just if eBay I think.
A good of tyres will make all the difference if you plan to get dirty.
Get over to BBA on Facebook and post a picture of your bike!! 👍👍
@@BigBikeAdventures where did you get your metal hand guards from?
Chris Oram They are Bark busters just without the plastic guard. They were donated to the Africa Twin. 😉
great info and vid. how would those tyres do on the road?
Thanks for the comments. Those tyres are really good all round but I have settled on the Anakee III as the best tyre for this bike.
In my Opinion,
Are the anakee 3 the adventure tyre?
Hey bro, what did you do with the seat ? Looks awesome mate
Hey mate. Just a Baa Baa Black sheep. That's all.
Big SMILE ! .....
I like the white sheep-/lambskin ! .....AND Your black one.

Thanks to AUS (Big Bike Adventures) for the advices !
All the best ....
from Germany !
Dietmar
..... you practice the appropriate keeping and care (in a phantastic way ) of the Honda Crosstourer . What YOU DO with this bike ....and what you are ALLOWED (!) to do in AUStralia , ist totally impossible here in Germany ...
+Heidebiker Thanks Dietmar, we have lots space and not so many people as you guys so I suppose we can do more exploring. Australia is about the same size and the EU group but only 24 million people. Lots of wide open spaces.
the VFR1200 is not for offroad...
And I never take it off road Eduard B. ;-) ua-cam.com/video/hp5oSZ9c3P0/v-deo.html
with the stock suspension it feels like taking a supersport offroad...
This one has a Wilburs Black upgrade to the rear. I think most bikes come out with pretty average suspension so an upgrade of some sort will always be required if you are loading them with luggage.
Headlight guard?
by the way .... My CT (new with 1400 kilometers on the odo) got a new drive-shaft (cardan-shaft) due to a recall action by Honda . - Did You get it too ? Its not only a European problem I suppose.
Best wishes from Germany,
Dietmar
Yes, me too. All VFR models including the F's. 👍
Have Honda stopped selling these in Australia?
yoshimitsu411 I believe that is the case.
Hi, I'm trying to find the radiator guard you installed, can you tell us the brand please? I need to buy one for my CT. Thx
Rui Ribeiro hi Rui, they this one, www.beowulfuk.com/products.asp?cat=2765
Thx m8!
what about engine casing protection?
Yeah, I was looking at the R & G Engine Case cover but haven't got that far yet.
No cruise control!! Bad Decision Honda!!!
In my opinion Africa Twin is better bike. Is not that heavy much more cheeper price and really can go off road.
Better in some ways, not all. The CT is a great bike and the AT was not available when I purchased the CT. ;-)
Yes you right . I also was thinking to buy CT but with AT come out I choose AT
I think both AT & CT is the best solution. :-D
Oleg, the AT is the best ADV for off-road.. it's also the worst on-road, mainly because of the 21" wheel. Since these bikes never go off road (despite what this video shows), I'll take the VFR.
The AT isn´t that much cheaper, and on the road the V4 is the best, but of course with the AT you burn less gasoline and it´s way better offroad...
Those crashbars wont protect you bike from any damage imho...
Yes they do, my Crosstourer fell some times and it only has some scratches on the crashbars!
Can you let me know what tyres your running
gcmkt p did you watch the video? I talked about tyres at 4:25.
