I’m 63 years old and I worked at jersey pet supplies in New Jersey when I was 19. Cichlids are my absolute favorites.
    Thinking about starting over.

That's really cool about the ventral fins, I'm waiting for my cacatuoides to spawn again now. The first set of eggs mysteriously disappeared over night and now I know the fry aren't just hiding because the female hasn't been displaying her fins.

You're making me want to breed different kinds of fish now. I've only really been interested in bettas and guppies, but now I'm wishing I was able to fill my room with tanks of breeders of all kinds.

They are definitely worth it. Much easier then most Apiso species. I only have one Male atm..so I wonder how they would do with multiple males in a 20.

Watched this video multiple times, my first attempt with these same type I got from GCCA sadly failed miserably about 2 years ago. I am thinking about giving it a second try and pick some at the swap this weekend. Thanks for re-inspiring me about this species.

When they "drop down", they are actually fully hatched and called "wrigglers". A lot of SA Cichlid wrigglers have glands on their heads that make a sticky thread. The parents use the thread to keep them in a small space to keep an eye on them. Cool video!

Great video👍I'm an Apisto addict and dispite my many spawns I've never had them spawn where I could see the eggs! You are very lucky! I'm currently working with 6 species and am having particular issues getting Apistogramma Elizabethae and Apistogramma Mendezi to spawn! Driving me crazy!
You've a new sub and just to say hi from England.

Hello, thanks for sharing such an amazing video.
    I have two questions:
-How did you manage to get all the little ones into the breeding box?
-How old should the fry be when I have to move them into a breeding box?
My apistos eggs hatched yesterday and it is my first time.
    Thanks for you help!!!
    Best

Great video. You Don't See too many about apistogramma anymore. They're all a year or two old. So thanks for keeping us updated. I just start getting into apistogramma agassizii Fire Red and had my first spawn as well. My water in Chicago is fairly hard. So nothing happened until I start putting in DI water to soften the water. To get my pH closer to 7.2.
How about you. What's your water parameters pH KH and GH thanks for sharing

    • @trungductlu
      @trungductlu Рік тому

u should use ADA aqua soil Amazonia V1 (yellow letters) to put the pH at 5.5-6. u check it at after 5-14 days cycle the fish tank
