Только что вернулась из Большого зала консерватории, слушала 6 ю симфонию Чайковского . Была в восторге! Сейчас переслушиваю с оркестром под управлением Валерии Гергиева.. Браво!
Ну и как вам аплодисменты сразу после кульминации? Ну и конечно же между частями.???
Лично меня, как внимательного слушателя это очень сильно отвлекло. К сожалению. Я испытала разочарование. Так уж получилось, что я мечтала услышать когда-то именно эту симфонию именно в этой консерватории, и какого было моё разочарование, когда я просто не смогла погрузиться в музыку "от" и "до"... Я ведь проездом была в Москве...
Работа дирижёра и оркестра замечательная, несмотря на то, что в некоторых местах играли не вместе определённые группы инструментов (хотя может, это я такой перфекционист) Но я даже не заострила своё внимание на этом, художественное воплощение этого величайшего творения было впечатляющим. Я разрыдалась на кульминации 1 части симфонии и тут.... аплодисменты... Произведение ещё не закончилось! Эээх! 😢
Это вся жизнь, радости, огорчения, пережитые драмы, исповедание... и... скорбный уход...

I dont know how many of you noticed, but THE Valery Gergiev uses no sheet while conducting this piece and I only noticed after almost 7 years of listening to this. I cried when i found out that he uses no sheet. Shows his love for the piece that he knows every single note for every single instrument throughout the whole piece... breathtaking and astounding. I love this and i love you!
Did you know the Rotterdam Orchestra in Holland fired the Maestro because he refused to comment openly on the conflict in Ukraine , music is not politics. So I wrote a not so nice letter to that Orchestra.😛

I bought this record in 1949 when I was 12 years old, took it home and played it on our Motorola, and I cried like a baby,
and have been crying ever since when I hear this. My record was of the NBC Orchestra, Toscanini directing.
Dear me! I know that recording! I had it too. It is a masterpiece. I bought it when I was 15 after hearing it played live by the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Dmitri Mitropoulos in an open-air summer concert in Lewissohn Stadium in New York.

Не только согласна с Вами, но всегда думала и думаю, что фильм о Петре Ильиче - совершенно уникальное произведение. Я смотрела его первый раз, когда мне было 16-17 лет, я была просто раздавлена, потрясена, убита. Я не могла представить , что фильм, музыка в нем могут так сильно воздействовать на человека! Фильм - чудо чудесное, как будто ты был свидетелем жизни гения. Столько эмоций, чувств, переживаний, воспоминаний , ассоциаций ! Говорят , что Смоктуновский долго не мог придти в себя после съемок......

So beautiful at 6:00 and yet so plaintive almost begging the most beautiful piece ever. The genius and passionate Tchaikovsky his soul tormented i feel torn at loving this symphony and not wanting to hear it as it just reminds me of his tragedy
Excellent tempo... not too fast... so you can actually hear the glory of ALL of the instrumentation and ARTICULATION. One of the best performances.
yeah for real. so many conductors have a tendency to play the end of the development (15:40 onwards) of the first movement too quickly (as in like double the tempo) and it's such a shame

Tchaikovsky had discovered the musical alchemy of tears.
You know, come to think of it, this is a very amazing symphony. With its very sad ending, it's no excuse how the symphony was first performed nine days before Tchaikovsky's death. My birthday is the same day that Symphony was performed. One of the best parts is the ending of the first movement.
The whole symphony is one of the best part of music history.
It is powerful, outstanding not enough words can describe the whole beauty of the symphony. It tells US about all the emotions , struggle , victory , sadness , joy of the human genius , the birth and the end and continuation of life... ❤
I loved the close-ups of the musicians and how carefully they watched every nuance of his expressions and fingers.
I think the musicians are watching their sheet music and the conductor is watching them.

One of those rare performances you can refer to as amongst the greatest.
Every single symphony Tchaikovsky wrote are outstanding! For Tchaikovsky to carry so much music in his head are beyond comprehension! Tchaikovsky opened the doors for a Brahms or a Rachmaninoff and others whom for me personally was the pinnacle of musical accomplishment! I don't mean to belittle others but somehow Tchaikovsky speaks to me in a language I understand!
Each movement is a symphony of awesome beauty in itself, but, together, the four movements produce a mighty, overpowering sensation of the most profound emotion. The lavish orchestration of rich barbaric splendor is also awe-inspiring. A human being did not write this. It was composed by a human being who was taking dictation from the gods. And these musicians, ye Gods! How great they played this masterpiece.

From 5:50 to 12:00, I cannot help but empathize with Tchaikovsky, and everything that he had been through to, until this point in his life.
This is different of every other performances i've seen of Pathétique. The Finale... wow. Just wow. Amazing. Powerfull.

The last movement is his retelling of his broken heartedness. That major section is so short lived, it shows you how short lived his love life was too - fiery and passionate, but also gone in a blink. The final climax is like being shot in the heart with a gun - everything after that is your minutes left alive on this planet, wondering what you will spend those minutes thinking about?
Маэстро Гергиев браво это лучшее исполнение из многих слава Богу, а сколько в этой симфонии страдания, муки, боли и отчаяния особенно в последней части чувствуется такая мука , одиночество и оставленность, скорбь до слёз, безвыходность , в этой симфонии показана как история России ибо сколько страданий перенесла Россия и русский народ а так же показана в музыке жизнь одного человека это судьба самого композитора Чайковского, разве иностранцы поймут жизнь России её судьбу и страдания и испытания русского народа в истории, ни за что не поймут.
Причем тут "иностранцы не поймут" - в музыке нельзя делить на нации. Все народы страдали в том числе и от России...

Normally when I listen to music on UA-cam and I'm not doing anything else, I like to watch from time to time the orchestra and the conductor. In this case, after the initial applause, I started my usual daily yoga session. After listening for a while, I realized that Gergiev almost embodied himself in this symphonic monument of romanticism, and then he himself 'disappeared' in a fusion with the sound, pronouncing the sound itself to sing the poem.
Praise to Tchaikovsky and the orchetra, led by an infinite Valery Gergiev.

Makes for an interesting discussion. Beethoven's 9th was a game changer, especially in putting a chorus section into a symphony. Tchaikovsky seemed to make this piece a personal biography, alternating between triumph and despair, using a 5/4 time in the second movement, reversing the traditional order of movements and ending TWO movements with musical descents into total quiet.
@@williamford9564 He must have struggled how to end this symphony: in triumph or despair. In the end he chose the order of the movements that end in resignation and despair. And that was how he had decided to end his life: there and then.

Gergiev gives every instrument its time, its chance to emerge, to emphasize you. - This is not a performance here - this is a moment of total dissolution into pure, real, higher - music! - fantastic!

Il faut vraiment être russe pour comprendre et interpréter Tchaïkovski comme il convient ... toute force déployée, tout "pudeur" musicalement correcte abolie ... lors qu'elle n'est QUE TROP l'apanage de tant et tant d'interprétations "à l'occidentale" selon lesquelles tout DOIT être "retenu", quasi "dévirilisé" (la culture du "beau son", du fondu des registres orchestraux pratiqués par Karajan et ses Berlinois sont bien "oubliés", abolis qu'ils ont été par l'hégémonie des relectures "historiquement informées" ou prétendues telles) !!! Valery Gergiev et son orchestre du Mariinski de Saint Pétersbourg livrent ici, en ce concert de 2010 en la Salle Pleyel de Paris, une version de la 6ème symphonie que je n'hésiterai pas à qualifier d'anthologique, dépassant même en lucidité de la dimension du tragique Evgueni Mravinski !!! Comment ne pas garder en mémoire, le climax cataclysmique du premier mouvement (Gergiev impose de manière saisissante un ralentissement des cuivres pour mieux en faire ressortir l'absolue dimension tragique), la ruée inexorable vers le néant du troisième mouvement, négation absolue de toute possibilité de bonheur, et le déchirement de l'Adagio final : Gergiev, au summum de la Coda du troisième mouvement, la tension étant à son comble, interdit toute possibilité d'applaudissements, en commençant IMMÉDIATEMENT la "mélodie composite" répartie entre 1ers et 2ds violons du thème principal !!! On comprend qu'après un pareil déchirement, Tchaïkovski ne pouvait aller plus "loin" et que la Mort ait eu pitié de son désespoir ...
Point d'ambiguïté possible s'agissant de la 6ème, la "Pathétique" (le nom est de Modeste, frère du compositeur) : « Il me vint à l'idée une autre symphonie, cette fois avec un programme restant inconnu de tous, à moins que quelqu'un ne puisse le deviner : l'œuvre sera appelée « une symphonie à programme ». Ce "programme", est-ce la réalisation de cette Symphonie "la Vie" à laquelle il pensait en 1890-91 et qui donna lieu à cette œuvre en Mi bémol Majeur devenue le 3ème concerto pour piano et que d'aucuns ont reconstituée en tant que "7ème Symphonie" ? En tout cas, cette "Vie" du compositeur, ce "programme inconnu de tous" sont pleinement transcrits en le premier mouvement (dans la descendance directe de celui ouvrant la Symphonie "Manfred", elle aussi en si mineur, cette tonalité "fétiche" de Tchaïkovski, quintessence du tragique de la Vie et de la Mort), émergeant, lugubre, désespéré, du solo de basson dans son extrême grave, culminant dans cette fugue tragique et s'accomplissant en le reflux du second thème ponctué par les pizzicati des cordes. Elle se retrouve dans l'inguérissable mélancolie de la Valse à cinq temps (une première dans l'histoire de la symphonie !), se complexifie dans la marche inexorable du "faux" Scherzo du troisième mouvement (authentique "Rondo burlesque" anticipant, à la manière propre à Tchaïkovski, celui de Gustav Mahler dans sa 9ème Symphonie ou la "Valse" de Ravel), expression de l'absurde de la vie et "culmine" (si l'on peut dire !) dans la lamentation sans retour de l'Adagio final (anticipant, là aussi, Mahler dont, cependant l'Adagio de sa 9ème, se situe à l'extrême opposé de l'aspiration au NEANT tchaïkovskien) ce, dans l'accentuation de l'éclairage en "bleu" sombre ayant baigné tout le concert !!!
Ce qui est tout particulièrement audible (et assure l'efficacité des climax dramatiques), c'est la puissance sans retenue que Gergiev autorise tout particulièrement à l'ensemble des cuivres (on n'entend JAMAIS une telle "liberté" par chez nous où tout est fait pour rendre le son "aimable" ... "retenu" ... musicalement "correct" !) ... C'est aussi la recherche d'un sostenuto perpétuel (l'expression du son jusqu'au bout de lui-même, fut-il seulement réduit à une croche !) ... d'un rubato expressif ... tout cela, à nouveau à l'opposé de ce qui se fait par chez nous, conséquence de la "révolution baroque" qui, se refusant à demeurer fixée dans le siècle du même nom, a désormais corrompu l'esthétique classique, romantique et même moderne, INTERDISANT un legato qui unifie et égalise la ligne musicale en gommant toute aspérité et SURTOUT le vibrato des cordes (il me souvient avoir entendu une "interprétation" de la "Pathétique" par Roger Norrington BANNISSANT TOTALEMENT tout vibrato ... INCROYABLE et AFFREUX) !!!
Gardons précieusement cette version de la 5ème symphonie (comme d'ailleurs du cycle des symphonies que Gergiev et les Mariinski ont livré en 2010 ... Car, soyons certains qu'en raison de l'HYSTERIE russophobique (pour ne pas dire la HAINE de tout ce qui "russe") devenue force de "loi" et EMPOISONNANT la conscience occidentale ... en raison du TSUNAMI de "sanctions" absolument INEDIT dans l'Histoire, PLUS JAMAIS nous n'aurons le privilège et le bonheur d'entendre Gergiev (frappé d'OSTRACISME HAINEUX pour s'être refusé de désavouer Vladimir Poutine en son entreprise de LIBERATION des RUSSES de la Novorossya "ukrainisés" depuis 1922 par la volonté de Lénine ... c'est-à-dire TRAHIR sa Patrie russe) et l'orchestre du Mariinski ...
