I purchased these speakers before I saw your review. Nevertheless an excellent review that is clear and simple enough for the layman to understand. The only downside is now I’m really excited about receiving these speakers and Amazon is already 2 days late with them.

I have not tested the brand you mention, but was very impressed with these. They are not a flat response though. Edifier make some studio monitors that are great.

I'll been having I problem with these... They do sound great, but I've notice that when I turn up the volume, with some bass styles, it started to distort, but I think is for the foam that is inside. Do you recommend to take off the foam from both speakers?
Some say these are good for base and EDM, Which i do enjoy, But are these good for actual music mixing/ producing? would you think its leveled and clear enough? Or is the Base too overpowering/Muffled? I just want speakers that have a good flat sound, for mixing/ softer albums, That can also be brought up to that base level if needed.

Wood does absorb some frequencies but wood also does enhance the low frequencies as well, you get a warmer more controlled sound when speakers have a wooden enclosure.

I have this speaker connected to a subwoofer you need to connect 3.5mm phono to dual RCA male cable into the sub out with the RCA end going into the low level input rca connections on the active subwoofer, put the crossover frequency about 85 Hz

Hey! adding an active sub is not a bad idea right ? I was thinking to go with the edifier s350db but was also considering the 1850s along with an active sub. What would you recommend ?
@@drummerdude100 Get the best edifier speaker that has a sub out you can afford and plug the T5 in. It is way better than the 360 will ever be. Reason is this, you can control crossover with the speaker/T5 combo, you cant with the 350/351/360. You can also adjust bass separately on the speaker and sub but you cant with the 350/351/360. It is also vital to get an edifier speaker with a sub out and not use a Y splitter and all that because edifiers speakers with a sub out have low pass filter and stops playing lower frequencies that the sub is already playing. Without this low pass filter, your spewkers will continue to play frequencies that your sub is playing and make things sound muddy.
@@AbsoluteFidelity thanks for the info. I ended up getting the r1855db speakers with sub out and pairing them with my old Corsair SP2500 sub. It sounds great but had to turn down the bass dial on the edifiers quite a bit otherwise it sounds muddy.

I like to be able to just plug and play, so I am glad that works with these. I am probably getting them soon. I found out in the mean time the subwoofer out is a 3.5MM jack so if my subwoofer has a cable that can work with that, it should work fine. If not, I am pretty sure cables like that are pretty easy to get. Thanks again.

It has a sub out. Can I use my Creative Gigaworks T3 SLAM subwoofer with these speakers? ( the satellites that came with the gigaworks t3 dropped on the floor and broke, so I just want to replace those with theses, if they connect to the subwoofer... )

Just ordered these myself off amazon, they have a 60hz-20khz response which is pretty standard for monitoring speakers which was my side intent when purchasing these. for monitoring those low low ends though definitely invest in a good quality subwoofer, I have a nice Yamaha myself that I use for that and with these speakers supporting a direct sub woofer connection they seem like a no brainer for that bedroom or home studio audio engineer!

Removing the foam might invalidate your warranty. Check with the manufacturer. They might say it’s okay.

For pro audio mixing I would look at studio monitors, for mixed use these are great.

These sounded great. Although I would rate the Roland a little better with wider frequency range.

The 10Hz might be noticeable with some speakers, but the cabinets do make a lot of difference too.
