Why haven't we cured HPV? HSV? Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis? Why do people still get any STI's?

Education, education, education. In the lower grades of school. Knowledge is the best weapon, the earlier the better. Anyone can get HIV or another STD through ignorance. If parents can't talk about it, there should be public info available that can be given to preteens. This is not a religious or morals issue, it's about health and safety. Would you let your child be driven around without a seatbelt? No, because that's stupid. Letting your child go into the world without knowing how their body works is stupid too.

Sandra Nelson. It’s not just education, but which type of education. We need a significant paradigm shift in the way we see these problems. I suggest people read what the medical anthropologist Dr Edward Greene has to say about it in his book “broken promises”. He was principally concerned with the realities in the African continent but there are lessons to be learned for all.
One should come to realize something about education. Canada is one of the most educated populations in the world with ready and great ways to access information. Is education enough? Why is it the massive increase in education in the population hasn’t stopped the development of new stds and their sometimes rapid spread?
It’s really not just HIV/AIDS but STDs in general, it’s time we start doing the hardest work and question our own behaviors and even dare to question some of pillars of the so called “sexual revolution” with fresh eyes. We have to think critically as a scientific community and as a society.
I don’t think we’ve really wrapped our heads around this issue so I would be very skeptical about what we would be “educating” young people, or children as you seem to suggest.
Just my two cents. I’m not proposing answers right now, just want to see better questions that can hopefully lead to good answers.
