That’s the most simplest way over the years I have been shown, as some have been so over complicated I got the impression they were just trying to show off how good they were at maths, just wish this training centre was near me! Thank You guys! 👍🏻

I appreciate Russ so much for taking his precious time out to explain this topic in an easy way ,Thank you Allen and Russ for this wonderful effort ,👍👌

This is really clear and broken down brilliantly like he says clever people did these sums but I ain't so this has really helped me thanks.
That was brilliant! I won't be doing my gas training for at least 2 years but this was both interesting and amazingly useful 👌 well explained also! Thank a bunch! 🙏
Thanks
I have never known about gas rating as i have no need to (car mechanic),but this was so interesting and very easy to remember....as i am now in my 60s, it makes me wonder if it's possible for me to look for a career change...you explained that so well....Brilliant as always....the world will be a sadder place when you guys go.......
Great videoand content. I'm booked on a viva course later this year with the aim of a career change. Really looking forward to starting now I've seen how the course is explained in such clear detail. Thanks
Excellent. Very helpful. This has helped me out greatly. I'm starting my course next week, and your videos give an excellent insight and tutoring.

Brilliant video chaps, so much easier to understand and take in.
Cheers, Harry

I had thought rating an appliance meant testing at maximum. The 3 burner test is an average for testing regulator and pipe sizing.
I thought that too. 3 burners only for meter operating pressure. Gas rate all burners and oven at full rate. This doesn’t make sense. You should match your gas rate with MI and show results.
the 3 rings is only for checking meter regulator working pressure.
Thanks lads helps with my training.
Thanks so much to you both for this video. Not being able to get my head round it was getting me down, but Russ explained it so simply, it’s all just clicked!
All the best to you both 👍

@@lesliecraddock Thank you so much.
I start my gas foundation coarse in February and this would of been a big worry for me. But after this I’m pretty confident
Again so helpful. Thank you Russel & Allen

Hi
Thank you for very useful gas training. I'm one of your subscribers.
You doing absolutely great job from explanation to physical training. Unfortunately I have a bit hearing impairment and in some of your videos I have problem with hearing your explanations and missing some of tgose very useful information.
Kindly Can you please do something about this issues and helping the people whom have such a problem to use your knowledge to complete their portfolio in more professional way. (I finished my bpec course and trying to complete my portfolio)
Kind regards
A Musheri

That's interesting, we were taught that we gas rate in gross and calculate ventilation in net. Also there's a 321 method which makes this easier still for gas rates.
Thank you you are a very good teacher
Great informative video
Thank you very much 🙏🙏
Thank you for watching.
Great video thanks guys . Subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub!
Thank you Alen and Russ
no problem.
Have you or will do a video on chimney? It’s an interesting and long topic on the gas book manual.

Shouldn't you gas rate each gas burner on the cooker separately ? One burner could be under gas and one over gas....surely more important on cooking ...
You'll be there for an awfully long time. Download the Mi's and total the number of burners you gas rating. 5% over 10% under are the tolerances you're allowed. If the gas rate is under the injectors could quite possibly be blocked, undersized pipe work or restrictions in lines. Over gassed could be worn larger then average injectors.
Allen Hart I have been following you for a few months I really learnt a lot.
With gas rating a cooker would you turn the oven and grill on aswell. Would we do each singly or all in one. This video he’s only done 3 rings.
Thanks in advance

Hi, you have to give your guests wireless microphone. Sound quality is not good
Thank you for the feedback
Thank you good video

Thanks guys for the effort
Another top video thanks mate. Perhaps should have mentioned the tolerances and why the gas rate is carried out in the first place for students jst a thought bud 🤷♂️
He did mention gas rate is done to check the appliance is using the right amount of gas / kw in the video 😐👍
Very well explained
thank you

Hi Allen is there a quick way of going ft3 meter ? Thanks for the video very helpful

Good work Allen, what’s happened to FB Group Gas Chat, it disappeared off my news feed?
No idea buddy, Have you said something to offend people? Thanks.
If an appliance is using the volume of gas/fuel it’s designed to do as shown in the MI then why is their a requirement to convert it to an energy calculation?
Can you elaborate please, are you talking about gas pressure being correct ???
Isn't burners on at the hob to to test the working pressure at the meter? If gas rating you would test it at full ie all burners on
Does this gross to net also apply to gas boilers since they scavenge waste heat unlike a gas appliance
Allen do you think imperial meters will be made obsolete to simplify gas rating in the future or are they always going to be around as its just something else to have to remember and after all it was back in the seventies when we went metric

Can we use this formula here, " The amount of gas an appliance uses in a two minutes period × 30 × 10.72= kw?
Thank you.
really helpful
Brilliant 'I'll just do that again, excuse me'
Hi Allen,
This is a question for all, do you only Gas Rate with only the appliance ON (Cooker) and nothing else on such as ( Boiler) ?
Thanks
A
You gas rate the appliance you require.
thank you very clear
Thanks Allen,
I was with my gas engineer mate the other day when he installed a new boiler. So what percentage tolerance is there between the nett kwh you calculated and the rating of the boiler before you need to start questioning things?
Did you check the inlet pressure and working pressure at the meter? Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 yes. Did the let by test, then upped it to roughly 20mb and waited the 2 minutes. Then did the tightness test. He showed me the same calculations Russell used.
@@ChristianBHough it's up to a max of 5% over and 10% under whats on the data badge or in the MI's
🎉many thanks
Well describes.
Glad you think so!
Much appreciated
Would that cooker need additional ventilation as it's above 7kw?
Would this be acceptable aswell? >>> 2 minute reading x 30 x 10.76
What about if cooker has 6 burners?
What if its not in the 5% over or 10% under tolerance and the wp at appliance is ok....gas ratio mix or dirty hex ?
Theres a difference in intial 3rd reading when using mobile phone calculators, it comes as a minus number. Best to use a regular scientific calculator guys
The 321 has now been superseded with 323 😎
Net or Gross ?
Thanks very much for your comment, please consider subscribing to support the channel 🙂
Gross for most pre 2000 appliances Net for most post 2000. If the data badge gives you a net reading then go with net conversion. If there isn't a data badge on the appliance assume it's a Gross calculation. Gross is the total amount of gas Net take it as the usable amount.
great!!!!
Thank you

Hi how do I work out the m3/ hour
How you get 321 please
Do not use kw/hour. That is a meaningless unit. You did fine until you used kw/h. The rating you calculated was correct at 7.1 kilowatts.

The content is amazing but the audio is Awful
Hard to hear!
long hand? whats that? lol .

Lads make the maths simpler , you tested for 2 min why not just do
30 x .022 x 10.76 = Kwh
Can’t beat the old meters these new smart meters are rubbish
Cool Allen hart ❤💞💌💋
