I'd suggest just the opposite. I listen to this album, before, during, and especially after a relationship. It makes me cry tears of joy and tears of sadness and nostalgia. It's the best album in the world.
Wife and I used this as the first dance song at our wedding back in '06. Our reasoning: 1.) It's kinda silly, which lightens up a pressure-filled situation; 2.) it's short-ish, so you don't have to endure a room full of people staring at you for more than a few minutes; and, most importantly, 3.) it's pure and sweet as a motherfucker. VU's "I'm Sticking with You" was a close second choice, but we feared we might over-analyze and/or overdo our dance moves with that one.
Confusion and disorientation, when you go back to a video you've watched dozens of times, and now suddenly everyone is here because it was in a movie. And the movie matters more than the song and video.
I know right?! Suddenly all the people who used to say "what is this weird shit" think it's cool because it was in a movie. :D All the better for them, but learn to not judge people or their music tastes! One day YOU might like that same weird shit! xD
I thought I knew this song after so many years... but just now I finally heard the line "the awful songs we don't even hear..." and immediately got choked up.
