    Hi! I've just wanted to start HMS Rodney in 1/200 scale from Trumpeter, but it seems i can't find the instructions, can anybody help me out and send me pictures of the instructions manual, if one has it on their stash? Thanks!

      @Stephen Hoyle Wow, really? Thanks! i was quite devasteted when i didnt find it, even trumpeter doesnt seem to respond. Maybe you could e-mail me photos of the pages, if they aren't too long?

      @Stephen Hoyle Yes, i have received them, much thanks! This is so great, i was really in doubt how i could have built this kit without! You enjoyed the build as well?

      @Stephen Hoyle I just went through the instructions, and there are so many pages! Thank you for the effort! it is really appreciated! I've started the Agincourt as an alternative, but now Rodnol can be adressed next! What camouflage did you paint it, the multi-coloured one?

      @Stephen Hoyle Very interesting, I sure wish my country had a navy i could have joined.
      I dont have the colour and camo chart either, but i have a book with illustrations from tony gibbons that i planned to use.

    3:40 Not a radar dome. It's an artillery director/rangefinder. Most likely for the AA guns, given its placement. It's an optical device, not a radio-based one. Whenever you see something that has two "tubes" or "ears" sticking out on the side it's highly likely this is the ends of a rangefinder.
    Blucher had radar, but only one, and the antenna was out in the open, mounted on the big director/rangefinder that is at the top of the superstructure. A thin flat mesh of metal wires or rods. It's not visible on the model.

    Hallo! I have this kit in my "private stock" waiting to be assembled. Your video shows a good assembling and at least a good result. I think, I will go on and start building this kit. Thanks for that informative video!

    Well Trumpeter make nice modells and i got a few in my stash.I also got the Blücher but it still in my stash.
    I also had the Admiral Graf Spee which took me one month to build with breaks etc.So you buildet that one in a short time.Respect.Its almost perfect.But the paint of the details....Well in fact most of the DKM Ships where mainly grey.But so the colour you used for the Blücher are very good.(My Oncle was at the DKM and he was for a visit on the Bismarck,i could ask him a lot,which was very helpful when i started building German Cruiser or Battleships.
    However to paint a Modell after is finished is in my opionen not a good idea cause some thing have to be done beforen.
    But you could paint the ankers(Rusty)
    and the funnel on top flat black.I also would paint the Arado 196 dark green and the Top(Cockpit)Silver)
    Also the boatcrane i would paint stonegrey.
    The flag is on the wrong place.
    It was on the back or on one of the riggings.The best you can do for the riggings is to work with superglue and no knots.Looks like curley wurley if somebody do so.
    How ever you did a great job.Sometimes a less is better than to much.
    You did it right🔝
    I notice that you only take fotoedge on certain part of the ship 😏I do the same.Cause all this photoedge stuff make sense when you have a bigger size.Most of the railings are to bloody high.Did you ever seen a 3 meter man😁Well..I don't●However the Eagle on the back is alright😉
    However nice modell and most important is to have some fun.
    I think the kick for me personal is ,to build a modell as perfect as possible,but at the same time i give myself the right to workout a little here there.
    Some people buy extra gunbarrels made out of metall.But when you use some messing colour or gold it almost looks the same.However.
    Have a nice day and keep on modelling😎✌
    PS 👉🏼HMS Rod. If you looking for a new instruction write to Trumpeter,the send you a new one.So far●

      Thanks for the detailed information! I usually build my kits without too much research and without exact paints so there might be differences to reality for sure, i just try to make it look similar to the paint schemes included in kits or i find on the net. Its great to have someone with first hand experiences to ask as most of the pictures are just black and white.

    Nice build video.
    For me sadly this kit was a major disappointment. The bow of the ship is completely wrong. Blucher was built with an Atlantic bow.
    The hull in the kit is Hipper's hull. To make the matter worse. The box art has the correct bow. Almost funny it it wasn't so sad.

    It's a shame that Trumpeter cut corner on this particular kit...the shape n the bow is TOTALLY incorrect!! I was SOOO looking forward to the release of this kit...I have the other 2 sisters already and was hoping to add this to my collection...I'm hoping Trumpeter will do a release of this kit soon n DO IT CORRECTLY...if not hopefully some other company will...

    Thanks for the video. It was one of the ships I voted for. Definitely builds into a nice model. I may have missed it but when you opened to box you mentioned the PE rails, but I noticed you did not build them on the model. Either way it is going onto my Christmas list lol

    • @funinscale2892

      Yes, you got me there! i did not put them on because i wasn't that much into this build, and i thought i keep the railings for something else. Sorry, i hope you still like the outcome, and good to hear that the kit convinced you.

      @@funinscale2892 Yes I definitely like the kit. Trumpeter are notorious for sometimes supplying a full set of rails and then not supplying rails. It took me around 5 or 6 days to build this one, which would not seem much, but in hours, it took me quite some time because in these days, i almost only sat at my desk modelling! That's why i pop out videos at that rate, at the moment :) Or, why i even started doing it, without corona, i probably would't have started making videos. I am from western europe

    The top of the main artillery was painted yellow ? Really ??

    • @funinscale2892
      @funinscale2892  4 роки тому

      It is sometimes shown, better say depicted on pictures, that the gun turrets have yellow tops with german warships of that time, the paint scheme supplied by Trumpeter did not indicate it, but the box art showed the yellow turret tops, i'm not sure if it is totally historically accurate, but it is a spot of paint in an otherwise very uniformly coloured boat.
      In short, I'm not sure!

    • @Don_Camillo
      @Don_Camillo 4 роки тому

      @@funinscale2892 : Thank you for your honesty. I could neither confirm nor deny it. Years ago i saw the russian Pre- Dreadnoughts of the Borodino-Class with yellow funnels and asked myself why them showed their opponent such widely visible targets. The Admiral Hipper of the trumpeter kits is shown with red topped gun turrets.

    • @funinscale2892
      @funinscale2892  4 роки тому +2

      @@Don_Camillo With the yellow funnels, i can't figure it out either, for example, the east indies paint scheme of HMS Norfolk had yellow funnels as well (more like buff-coloured, but sometimes described as yellow), and i can't find an answer on why it was that way. i think i once read it was because of the pacific sunsets over there, that the white hull resembled the shiny sea surface and the yellow funnels blend in the sunlight, not sure though. probably not...
      Painting the tops of gun turrets could be because of aerial identification, like the italian red and white stripes on the bow deck section, or the RAF insignia on HMS Hoods B Turret

    No RAILINGS at deck level , THE DECK colour and planning DON'T look right , many parts ARE THE "chunky" from typical of cheep kits e.g. the go folding docking bridge , AND THE builders initial non fitting parts ... V E R Y. HARD TO BELIEVE THIS IS A TRUMPITER PRODUCT ... DISSAPOINTMENT ,!
