I disagree.. I think he was Yet educated beyond his intelligence.... The way that he completely says there's no God. it's not very intelligent.. There is 3 or 4 really good miracles What happened in this world... Observed by children.. And also thousands of people.. So how could he completely just push that aside.... I think his problem was pride and Ego.. Then no matter what was produced to him as evidence.. he could not go back on his word And all of his life's work..

Not the best arguement for religion I'm afraid. We also know that many thousands of individuals have claimed to have been abducted by aliens and yet you wouldn't believe them I assume? We also know that alien sightings goes up as aliens are in the news. That's why miracle sightings are more common in the past than now because the supernatural was more widely accepted so people attribute more to it.
What would you say to the also many thousands of individuals who saw Sathya Sai Baba perform miracles and claimed to be a hindu reincarnation. He also performed resurrections. He had a following of millions and only died in the 2011. Based on your many witnesses hypothesis, this man is like Jesus. The real deal.
We also know that eye witness testimony is the most unreliable form of evidence to exist. Pychology tells us this. James Randi showed how easy it is to make people believe in the supernatural by getting an ordinary member of the public (not an actor) to go live on Australian TV and claim to be able to do the supernatural. He sold out arenas before James Randi showed that he was indeed a fake, as were his tricks.
Your arguement isn't as strong as you think.

Need to correct Channel 4 News, on telling the viewers that Christopher was 'Left' and then 'Right'. Those who have read his work know he no longer considers himself having a particular allegiance in the political spectrum. And I doubt he 'turned his back on Britain'.

@Jazzkeyboardist1 Please try to stay on topic, if that's even possible for you. The issue is NOT whether anyone donates to wherever, the issue is that M Theresa deliberately, and with direct awful outcome, tortured dying people in her care. Additionally, she "rubbed shoulders" with famous people and took advantage of that status to serve herself only, as people died alone in her slums.

@@ConanTheCimmerian lol bro not really Indians are spread around the world. I am guessing u are from UK judging by ur name. The UK doesn't even have their own authentic dish as their national dish lol the national dish of the UK is an authentic Indian dish i.e Chicken Tikka Masalah. There are 1000s of Indian restaurants spread across the UK. There are thousands of Indian families living in London itself. Even if she actually did what she was accused of doing that doesn't ur case out cause most of the Indians under her care were poor slum dweller kids most of whom barely had any education opportunities or even went to school. Many of the Indians living in places like the UK US Dubai and other countries big cities around the world are rich and educated as is the case in England which has thousands of Indian millionaires. Even one of India's billionaires used to live there lol. Long story short even if she did cause of the deaths of thousands of more Indians under her care it wouldn't have affected the spread and diaspora of Indians around the world a single bit lol cause those who were under her care were mostly Calcutta which is one city and they were too poor and didn't have the means to travel out of the country for a job in the first place

Hitch didn’t attack “God”. If one is an “atheist” or “antitheist” as he preferred, god does not exist so there’s nothing to attack. What Hitchens railed against was religion and the idea of an all knowing all seeing being judging you from birth to eternity. That’s a man made creation and it’s the impulse towards enforced subservience to an imaginary dictator that he was attacking. Even the way that statement, “attacking God” is delivered so casually inaccurate that it’s an example of how religion “poisons everything”, which is the subtitle of his book, not how “god” poisons everything.

Jazzkeyboardist1 Hitchen’s supported the Iraq war in order to remove Saddam Hussein, which is an entirely noble pursuit. He’s not a general, he was not involved in HOW it was done, and it was the method which was the problem. I continue to find it petty that you all call him Chrissy. If you’re going to refer to him, do so by his “christian” name, as is per your customs. To bring up his mother’s suicide is indeed crass and does nothing to further your cause but instead damages it, for you immediately overshadow any valid points you could have made.

      @AreMullets4AustraliansOnly 5 років тому +8

Jazzkeyboardist1 further: hitchens did not mock religion, he criticised it and judged it and made a case, after finding it’s glaring flaws, for why it should be cast aside, the same as criticising politicians or the actions of countries like Russia, for the goal of creating a better place and weeding out the things that don’t work for us anymore and instead work against us, like religion or communism

Really. Let's have a look at what you believe now.
Biological processes from non-biological processes. No evidence.
      Consciousness from non-consciousness. No evidence.
      Ascensions from non-ascensions. No evidence.
      Life from non-life. No evidence.
All created information systems, regardless of their shape and form, have one thing in common. Directed processes were required to create them. A Tom Clancy novel, computer software, are lit up sign on the top of the skyscraper and a restaurant menu to name a few. After 4 billion years of refining, purifying and perfecting by the forces of evolution, the DNA double helix cannot duplicate itself without the directed processes within the cell. Yet we are to believe that in Ponds of primordial soup, starting with nothing, molecules arranged themselves into complex information systems ,and duplicated themselves ,before the cell even came into existence.
We have named and classified 1.8 million macroscopic animal life forms. We should have hundreds of examples of intermediary life forms. No one I know can even tell me five.
How do we know all this happened. Because all the self-appointed intellectuals told us that it did. Fools like the Richard Dawkins, the Sam Harris's ,the Christopher Hitchens and the mindless sheep that followed them
Continue to believe in your fairy tales. I will stick with science.
      Atheists. So easy to deceive.

George Galloway was, is and always will be a proper honest human being and much more than Hitchens in more ways than one could possibly imagine.Hitchens will be remembered as an arrogant uncompromising circus clown who played to a dimwit audience overwhelmed by his posh accent, saying very little of meaning and even less of importance, especially of his unlettered views of religion.Just look at the comments section here - I am sure the majority didn't even know what he was talking about, but were simply impressed by his use of unfamiliar words in a posh accent and you have the creation of an illusion of hollow intelligence. He may be now wishing he could come back and be less arrogant against those who believed in the hereafter. Indeed there is a verse directed at him from 1400 years ago that says the following “Our Lord! We have seen and we have heard: Now then send us back (to the world): we will work righteousness: for we do indeed (now) believe.” This posh boy has not only fooled you but millions before and after you. Please think again. He is the epitome of the blind leading the blind

For those on the left, of which I am one, this explains his "support" for the Iraq war:
Islam is far, far, far, far more dangerous than most on the left will allow themselves to admit. Even though he knew Bush and Blair would mess up big time, the need to put fear into the minds of Islam was greater than the bad things those two incompetent leaders could do.
Even though Islam has many sects, my anecdotal interactions with it make me feel that they are mostly very fundamentalist, no matter what sect. I was everything from an Instructor to an Associate Professor at three different colleges and universities. I openly declared my atheism. I challenged every Christian Professor about bad and anti-science things in the Bible. Virtually every Christian Professor would readily disavow almost all of those things from the Bible. I would challenge Islamic Professors in the same way. None, not a single one, would disavow any part of the Koran or any thing that came out of Muhammad's mouth. Specifically, none would disavow the idea of someday killing all infidels via Jihad. If anyone still claiming to be in an Islamic sect would disavow any part of it, it would be a Professor. I don't care whether the reason they won't disavow it is because they fear for their lives or because they really believe it, it's the most dangerous large religion in the world by far.
Hitchens recognized this and knee-jerkers, including many atheists, claim that talking about it is Islamophobia or racism. Bull. It's an extremely dangerous philosophy. Until they openly disavow the violence their Koran espouses, they are ALL dangerous.
Muslims: prove me wrong by openly declaring otherwise, with the same personal details that a Christian Professor would about themselves as they disavow stupidity in their religion or their Bible.

    • @chuletaization

Talk about the law of unintended consequences. If the object of the Iraq war was to restrain Islamic fundamentalism the result was the opposite. Western motives have nothing to do with restraining Islam. Saddam was an Arab Nationalist who, along with Ghaddafi, Nasser of Egypt and Assad in Syria, being secular Arabs tried to promote an Arab union that if successful would have been a serious obstacle to western corporate domination of oil production. That is why Nasser was assassinated, Ghaddafi was murdered and Iraq and Syria were attacked. The object is to prevent Arab solidarity and the strategy is to promote Islamic sectarianism and extremism. For someone who claims to be on the left your views are very reactionary. Ask Afghan dissident women who sought asylum in Greece and other countries if they think the Koran is the problem. Violent jihad is blasphemy to the majority of practicing Muslims.

Most agree that we come to the world for a purpose whatever it may be. But to spend a lifetime ridiculing others and questioning the existence of God with an untellect that could have been utilised in more meaningful thought and action is tantamount to delusional hypocrisy. If God does not exist then much of the civilised world must have it woefully wrong and a handful of atheists must have one day come together at some point in time to create everything that we can and cannot see in a moment of intense thoughtful action.

Well done on spelling his surname correctly in the video title...
Serious note. As a Kurd who loves the whole of Iraq, I give him the benefit of the doubt on supporting the invasion. I honestly don't believe he or anyone with a sane mind or positive thoughts on its results could've imagined what would follow. Maybe he was just too uneducated and ignorant as to sectarian feelings and differences in the country. A reality that every single foreign power that played its part in the invasion didn't truly appreciate and for that, even Hitchens has blood on his hands. He thought it was ridding Iraq of a dictator but in reality, all the USA and its allies did was make the situation worse in order to try and weaken Iran...at the cost of over a million Iraqi lives and counting.

The psychological damage that boarding school causes and the character traits that it imbues are only really being discussed now by the likes of James O'Brien.
