I think his problem was pride and Ego.. Then no matter what was produced to him as evidence.. he could not go back on his word And all of his life's work..
Not the best arguement for religion I'm afraid. We also know that many thousands of individuals have claimed to have been abducted by aliens and yet you wouldn't believe them I assume? We also know that alien sightings goes up as aliens are in the news. That's why miracle sightings are more common in the past than now because the supernatural was more widely accepted so people attribute more to it. What would you say to the also many thousands of individuals who saw Sathya Sai Baba perform miracles and claimed to be a hindu reincarnation. He also performed resurrections. He had a following of millions and only died in the 2011. Based on your many witnesses hypothesis, this man is like Jesus. The real deal. We also know that eye witness testimony is the most unreliable form of evidence to exist. Pychology tells us this. James Randi showed how easy it is to make people believe in the supernatural by getting an ordinary member of the public (not an actor) to go live on Australian TV and claim to be able to do the supernatural. He sold out arenas before James Randi showed that he was indeed a fake, as were his tricks. Your arguement isn't as strong as you think.

For those on the left, of which I am one, this explains his "support" for the Iraq war: Islam is far, far, far, far more dangerous than most on the left will allow themselves to admit. Even though he knew Bush and Blair would mess up big time, the need to put fear into the minds of Islam was greater than the bad things those two incompetent leaders could do. Even though Islam has many sects, my anecdotal interactions with it make me feel that they are mostly very fundamentalist, no matter what sect. I was everything from an Instructor to an Associate Professor at three different colleges and universities. I openly declared my atheism. I challenged every Christian Professor about bad and anti-science things in the Bible. Virtually every Christian Professor would readily disavow almost all of those things from the Bible. I would challenge Islamic Professors in the same way. None, not a single one, would disavow any part of the Koran or any thing that came out of Muhammad's mouth. Specifically, none would disavow the idea of someday killing all infidels via Jihad. If anyone still claiming to be in an Islamic sect would disavow any part of it, it would be a Professor. I don't care whether the reason they won't disavow it is because they fear for their lives or because they really believe it, it's the most dangerous large religion in the world by far. Hitchens recognized this and knee-jerkers, including many atheists, claim that talking about it is Islamophobia or racism. Bull. It's an extremely dangerous philosophy. Until they openly disavow the violence their Koran espouses, they are ALL dangerous. Muslims: prove me wrong by openly declaring otherwise, with the same personal details that a Christian Professor would about themselves as they disavow stupidity in their religion or their Bible.
Talk about the law of unintended consequences. If the object of the Iraq war was to restrain Islamic fundamentalism the result was the opposite. Western motives have nothing to do with restraining Islam. Saddam was an Arab Nationalist who, along with Ghaddafi, Nasser of Egypt and Assad in Syria, being secular Arabs tried to promote an Arab union that if successful would have been a serious obstacle to western corporate domination of oil production. That is why Nasser was assassinated, Ghaddafi was murdered and Iraq and Syria were attacked. The object is to prevent Arab solidarity and the strategy is to promote Islamic sectarianism and extremism. For someone who claims to be on the left your views are very reactionary. Ask Afghan dissident women who sought asylum in Greece and other countries if they think the Koran is the problem. Violent jihad is blasphemy to the majority of practicing Muslims.
The worlds worst and most evil go about their business sace in the knowledve that The Hitch is not here to illuminate them. A truly great defender of debate, increcibly articulate, fearless and very often right. RIP Mr. Hitchens.
Most agree that we come to the world for a purpose whatever it may be. But to spend a lifetime ridiculing others and questioning the existence of God with an untellect that could have been utilised in more meaningful thought and action is tantamount to delusional hypocrisy. If God does not exist then much of the civilised world must have it woefully wrong and a handful of atheists must have one day come together at some point in time to create everything that we can and cannot see in a moment of intense thoughtful action.
His intimate knowledge and ability to keep pace with all the BS is just astounding. I despise religion as much as him, but he takes the time and effort to learn everything about the enemy that I do not take the time to do, so I just love when he fires off all that ammunition gained thru the research.
Well done on spelling his surname correctly in the video title... Serious note. As a Kurd who loves the whole of Iraq, I give him the benefit of the doubt on supporting the invasion. I honestly don't believe he or anyone with a sane mind or positive thoughts on its results could've imagined what would follow. Maybe he was just too uneducated and ignorant as to sectarian feelings and differences in the country. A reality that every single foreign power that played its part in the invasion didn't truly appreciate and for that, even Hitchens has blood on his hands. He thought it was ridding Iraq of a dictator but in reality, all the USA and its allies did was make the situation worse in order to try and weaken Iran...at the cost of over a million Iraqi lives and counting.
2:06 I suspected they would have him say that, "created ill and commanded to be well", and also the part about "celestial North Korea", because those are his iconic phrases, etc...the ones that would make me think of him immediately...
Create a numbered list of his totally incorrect comments. Not the ones people didn’t like, The ones shown to be false against all the comments made! He made his points very bluntly and intentionally at the people to whom they were in tended, When, where, how is irrelevant, the most brutal insults he ever made hurt those the most cause they were correct And they know it. RIP hitch and thank you for saying what many couldn’t.
Who cares about his labels or affiliations. Left right whatever. He was a amazing man . And I find it disturbing that there are more videos of Paul walker honoring him than chris. This is the sad state of our world.
Looking back, it seems fairly obvious now that he had a highly addictive personality, whether it was alcohol, smoking or interpersonal conflict. No doubt partly a reaction to his childhood and having been sent to boarding school. The psychological damage that boarding school causes and the character traits that it imbues are only really being discussed now by the likes of James O'Brien.

Long live the words of the Mighty Hitch!!!
He had more brains than the lot of them put together!
I coined the following in my mind a long time ago and I finally have an opportunity to state here about extraordinary Chris; NOBODY REMEMBERS ORDINARY PEOPLE.
WE NEED MORE LOGICAL THINKING - WE NEED LESS SUPERSTITION - WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE CHRISTOPHER HITCHINS!
Atheism leads to cultural destruction

Jose Watson you’re basing this on what? The most atheist nations just so happen to be the most happiest and have the best standards of living.
Richard Dawking's comment on Hitchens book 'God is not Great'. If you're invited to debate with Christopher hitchens, don't go.
0:50, what's this debate, is there a video of it on UA-cam?
A great regret of mine is meeting this man late in my life, thank you Mr. Hitchens for your knowledge.
Miss this guy. Can you imagine the conversations he's having with God?
Quel homme brilliant ! Quelle perte pour nous libre-penseurs !
Cheers to you Hitch’ ! 🥃 Cheers to life !

So, this video has existed with his name misspelt in the title for eleven years?
"Your ignorance can be cured by education, which is hindering by religion brainwashing you to not only be willfully ignorant, but also celebrate your willful ignorance."
A linguistic warrior standing up against the dishonesty of those with power & influence! The closest we have to Hitch now is Douglas Murray. ✌️
update the title lads

I do so wish he was still around in the era of Trump as Prez.

Now then, you made a proper comment. Thanks.
I don’t agree with almost anything he says, but I still feel very sorry him.
cant even show him the respect to spell his name properly
"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" - God on Hitchens et al.
incredible to me that his name is spelled incorrectly. of all the people to make that error with, honestly
His death did not stop his “reign”. He is still with us with in his writings.
Like Jesus .

George Galloway was, is and always will be a proper honest human being and much more than Hitchens in more ways than one could possibly imagine.Hitchens will be remembered as an arrogant uncompromising circus clown who played to a dimwit audience overwhelmed by his posh accent, saying very little of meaning and even less of importance, especially of his unlettered views of religion.Just look at the comments section here - I am sure the majority didn't even know what he was talking about, but were simply impressed by his use of unfamiliar words in a posh accent and you have the creation of an illusion of hollow intelligence. He may be now wishing he could come back and be less arrogant against those who believed in the hereafter. Indeed there is a verse directed at him from 1400 years ago that says the following “Our Lord! We have seen and we have heard: Now then send us back (to the world): we will work righteousness: for we do indeed (now) believe.” This posh boy has not only fooled you but millions before and after you. Please think again. He is the epitome of the blind leading the blind
Gibberish.
For those on the left, of which I am one, this explains his "support" for the Iraq war:
Islam is far, far, far, far more dangerous than most on the left will allow themselves to admit.
It's Hitchens, not Hitchins. Smh
Long live freedom and democratic support

He died aged just 62. 😢
Such a fucking shame. I’ll say it again because it’s very important: SUCH A FUCKING SHAME!!!
Whom did he like and on what ground did he stand?
The worlds worst and most evil go about their business sace in the knowledve that The Hitch is not here to illuminate them. A truly great defender of debate, increcibly articulate, fearless and very often right. RIP Mr. Hitchens.
Its a shame Tim Brook Taylor didn't have Bill and Graham saying things in his bit on the news line this. They had to stay indoors.
I agree with you 100 per cent!
His intimate knowledge and ability to keep pace with all the BS is just astounding. I despise religion as much as him, but he takes the time and effort to learn everything about the enemy that I do not take the time to do, so I just love when he fires off all that ammunition gained thru the research.
How we need that man now days.
Rock and a hard place.
I guarantee he know the truth now and wishes he could come back for one more day to get it straight!!
And I guarantee that when you’re gone, you’ll know also what the truth is, nothingness, at all.
2:06 I suspected they would have him say that, "created ill and commanded to be well", and also the part about "celestial North Korea", because those are his iconic phrases, etc...the ones that would make me think of him immediately...
...he tends to say "commanded", lol...
Create a numbered list of his totally incorrect comments.
Not the ones people didn’t like,
The ones shown to be false against all the comments made!
He made his points very bluntly and intentionally at the people to whom they were in tended,
When, where, how is irrelevant, the most brutal insults he ever made hurt those the most cause they were correct
And they know it. RIP hitch and thank you for saying what many couldn’t.
Who cares about his labels or affiliations. Left right whatever. He was a amazing man . And I find it disturbing that there are more videos of Paul walker honoring him than chris. This is the sad state of our world.
Without all that booze and cigarettes, he may well still be here today...
He would've been perfect for this crazy political times!
How can someone listen to Christopher Hitchens and then sincerely listen to James o Brien, them names shouldn’t even be in the same sentence tbh. James o Brien is an embarrassment. Through and through.
