When I saw this log of an unidentified species of wood, that my hardwood lumber dealer just called swamp wood, I had to have it. The fluted cross section and mangrove-like side profile were both amazing. I decided to make a DIY coffee table from stumps of this log, with an epoxy resin top. I poured the epoxy resin around the stumps of wood, so that the cookie cross section of the wood stumps is exposed in the epoxy top, and the sides of the stump that form the table base are also visible. I think this woodworking and epoxy resin project came out super cool - but what do you think?

Amazing build. You did justice to natural beauty of that wood.. Btw what happened to the stumps you pulled from epoxy? How did you get rid of the partially cured resin
Those were the final stumps... A ton of acetone was used to clean the uncured epoxy off
you could make matching end tables with the 2 extra peices you have left over
Fun fact: Mexican Logwood can also be used as a natural pink dye (I find it works best with an alum mordant). If you look online, a 500g bag of the stuff sells for like $50, so if you wanted you could make quite a bit of money just selling the sawdust left over from the project. I'm lucky enough to live in an area where it's cheaper though (southern US)
This might be the only epoxy table I would consider for my lounge. The epoxy table top works perfectly with the wood. Absolutely stunning!
Thank you!! Very kind words 🙏🙏
This gotta be one of the top epoxy builds on UA-cam (out of 3.4 million epoxy videos). The wood pattern and tint make this a REALLY nice piece.
I absolutely want a video for that leveling sled. It looks great!
To say that table is beautiful is an understatement.
Nicely done.
Thank you! 🙏🙏
Absolutely beautiful! It looks like those stumps are stuck in a fog. Like you might encounter them in the morning in a deserted bayou. Beautiful!
I'm excited that you are trying to get into commissioned work! I think you have a really good eye for design and this table is proof of that. Looking forward to what else you come up with.
I must admit, this is the first video I´ve seen from you but it has to be the nicest epoxy table I´ve seen... ever... period.
Thank you for the very kind words!
ditto!
Awesome build- turned out soo cool! I was sweating as well when you had to pull out the first attempt. Been there!
Great to see you moving into the furniture market. Your stuff is worth it. Thanks.
Thank you!
Great pour recovery! Lessons learned, wisdom gained. I like the table alot!
a build video INSIDE the build video?! NICE! very meta, very inception. definitely looking forward to the leveling sled video.
Yes you did. Nice that you have these videos to also show clients how much work went into that table and how rare the wood is. They aren't just buying a table, but also buying a story.
I'm not normally a huge fan of epoxy stuff but this is stunning. The color on the stumps contrasting with the charcoal epoxy is something else
I had some Australian hardwood power poles that had the softwood eaten out by termites who had eaten out tunnels and galleries. ~ Cool looking (which is why I kept them), similar to your "swamp log"
I really want Cameraman Cam to just be called Cam Cam😂
In my head I always picture Cam Anderson from Blacktail studio
This needs to happen
My last dog was named DOG DOG.
Basically, I dig your style. Clearly a woman of culture.

Gotta admit, the flattening jig was the coolest and most interesting part.
This is incredible! You showcased the swamp logs perfectly this way and the overall results are fantastic. Instead of 4 logs it looks more like a hundred sticks, and the tops looks like tropical leaves almost. I’d love a video on that flattening jig please! Keep up the great work! Cheers
Beautiful! Just absolutely lovely. The extra time and effort spent really made a huge difference!
thanks!
That table looks so beautiful, I love how the stumps look though the epoxy.
Thank you!
sometimes a screw up is a blessing in disguise, the black with just the top showing through looks insain
I've learned enough about epoxy just from watching your channel that as soon as you popped the bottom of the form off, even in that state, I was all "ooooooooh you've done it" and it was going to be gorgeous. And, of course, it was. Good luck with the sale!
I had to double-check, and it is the first video of the year. Beautiful wood and awesome work
Hi MM! I think you did an awesome job, the table is absolutely gorgeous, good luck in selling it, take care.❤️🇨🇦
17:27 Wow!!! 21:48 and WOW again!
This is incredible Mike.
Congrats, this is an art piece!
Nice job, as always, we can see that you put everything you have into those builds. I'm proud of being part of the channel for a while and to see your evolution!
Mike, that table is AMAZING! You have all the right to be extremely proud of yourself man. The stumps really are stunning, combining the cross-section with the epoxy top really does it justice. 💪💪
Thank you Tiff!
Splendorous. This is definitely a very high end, one of a kind masterpiece. Befitting a hefty price tag as expected.
definitely one of the very beautiful and most unique designs and i bet none else could create something this amazing and novel out of that swamp wood.
Really well done. Fantastic build and a unique way to showcase the wood's natural beauty.
The fact that the metaphor is preserved and the swamp wood is like resting in a swamp, is mesmerising.
Beautiful! And yes you did justice to both the profile and the end grain in one go.
It looks stunning, great job and great call pulling the wood out when the epoxy failed, that must have been a nightmarish moment, thank gosh it turned ok in the end !
Yea it was a panic moment for sure... So hard to make that call at the time, but very glad I did
Congratulations for these master piece work, here in Brazil we named this swampwood, “quariquara”.
Wow! That’s stunning. With your skill and artistry, creating high-end furniture seems like the next logical step for you. You look rested and relaxed in this video, too. I’m never going to build one but I’d love to see how you made that flattening jig. There are so many fantastic and fabulous things you’ve done in your “abandoned” building, it’s going to be exciting (for me) to see the full tour.🌸
One of the coolest pieces I’ve ever seen
Would love to if this sold and how much it went for, you deserve a huge payout for the effort and skill displayed on this piece 👍🏻
You could take the 2 leftover stumps, and cut some cookies off, and make chairs to go with it, or just high end mancave barstools.
Great video! Always love to see a new species of wood. Id have never guessed so i didn't even bother 😅
1st time here. Just going to say that 10 Hun mural in the back is awesome!!!!!
❤ the uniqueness of this piece...definitely a work of art for sure!!!
Very beautiful job sir! This piece would look great in any room.... Board Room or Living Room! Congrats!
Beautiful, beautiful, and a very original idea! Congrats on your success!
Super neat the wood turned the water pink. Love the red colour of the wood. Very pretty. 5 figures HOLY SHIT. The table looks gorgeous and very cool. Great project
That turned out beautiful! I love to see you do unexpected things.
Brasiletta is the wood if no one has guessed yet. Your table looks great!
I think you are the first!
That is the most beautiful epoxy table I have seen!!. Such a great way to show off the timber
More slow motion shots of this thing with a macro lens please! I wanna see all that hard work!
Дуже гарний стіл вийшов! Мені сподобався 👍👍👍
That’s the cutest Cameraman I have ever seen 🙈, also I cannot believe you just called him the CameraMan 😂.
I really like how that ends look reddish. Makes them look like fall leaves. Fantastic, beautiful table!
Dangit, you made me late for work!! Awesome creativity, problem-solving, and craftsmanship. What a unique and beautiful piece! 👍🤩
Amazing build! Gorgeous!
I love your channel.
Thanks!!
It's a Great looking table. Very much looking forward to more videos.
Great project and it turned out great! As to the flatten jig, AWESOME job!! For a "going to use for multiple projects" jig, it is NOT over built! Really like the "water" test of the form. Hadn't seen that before, but after you showed it, its like "DOH! So obvious!" Please keep up the great work!
I was holding my breath while watching your build. The table is awesome.
Stupendous!! That is worth the high end amount you are looking for!!!
Gorgeous table. Well thought out design. Great execution.
Beautiful work!
Amazing and Beautiful table
Your Art and Engineering is incredible!
Amazing showmanship of this table piece. The cross section is fantastic…looks almost like coral. The multi-trunk is perfect. Good use of the whole wood piece.
Nice use of the wood. And your attention to detail will help you sell high end furniture. 👏
Love love love this! It is soooo beautiful ❤️
The table looks great. I like that you've kept the design pretty simple so that the unusual wood really is the star of the show. I also much preferred the tinted top you went with the second time around, it works much better with the quite dark colour of the wood.
My guess was fig of some variety but since my (limited) tree knowledge is mostly Australian I figured it probably wasn't that. I did feel validated that you mentioned having looked into the ficus family before finally discovering what it actually was, haha.
Good luck finding a new owner for the table, but I really doubt you need it!
NICE! I love how the red shows up in the wood and laughed when you used the nano polish because I was thinking that you should from the moment you said you spent 8 hours on the polish and then polished more. Definitely saleable!
Hands down one of the best, if not the best work you've put on this channel till now.
That wood is marvelous. Amd the table top choice is inspired.
I'm so glad you used the N3 Nano. Cam is awesome.
Wow!! This is incredibly stunning!!!
Incredible! I can't fathom the work that went into this.
Absolutely Gorgeous ! Great job!
This is the coolest project! That is gorgeous and unique.
Please make the other two pieces into an individual tables so they will be a full set. Because your work is incredible.
The table is beautiful 🤩
Your gantry solution is absolutely brilliant!!! Please share plans!
That table is gorgeous!
You always level up your creations, much respect and admiration for your work mate. The table looks very alien, and awesome.
Stunning table, dude! What an amazing work!!! 😃
This wood looks crazy! Fantastic!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Sometimes words aren't enough. Wow! That wood is amazing. Perfect way to showcase it.
Holy crap, that turned out so nice. First? I can’t wait to see you try to top it. It’s almost impossible. You got a record with the first attempt.
Ooohhh. I bet you enjoyed showing that one to Cam at Blacktail!
I, for my part, love inperfections in the epoxy (color swirls, bubbles) when wood in its nature-given form is involved. In my opinion These inperfections are able to show the real beauty of the wood.
Vraiment très jolie table et ce bois immergé donne un bel effet !
Nice work Mike!
thanks!
The table does look really nice but I am just glad I don't have to move it around. Love the colors of both the epoxy and the end grain of the wood showing through. Also the organic forms of the wood look both natural and pleasing. A table like this I think would look pretty good in either a business environment setting or a high end home. Best of luck to you sir. Stay safe and healthy.
Absolutely stunning!
Absolutely gorgeous.
Stunning work pal... Much appreciated
Great build! I actually have an almost identical project in my list. I’m glad you did it first so I could learn from you!
This is probably your nicest project
Wow, beautiful!! Great job!
The most beautiful table ave seen in 2024 good job.
Thank you for the kind words 🙏🙏
That's a beautiful table. Good job.
That's actually really nice. Great job man!
Thanks!
Absolutely amazing!
I love the sound of your sliding rails :)
Fabulous!
Lovely table. Def high end. If I had the dough, I would love to make it or buy it
This jig looks amazing, of course we wanna see it!!!
