Ive never liked anything more... and ive collected pokemon and yugioh half my life...
It’s super fun, looks great, and the community surrounding it is insane! Overall I love it.
It's definitely interesting to see. The artwork throughout the set is muted but definitely took some skill to create. May not compare to varied arts in Pokémon sets, but the deliberate look of the MetaZoo set isn't bad.
@@dxxb especially because this is the first artwork from the kickstarter was them working with each other over the internet mostly.. with all the new finance, and the artists now focused, basically with careers now.. i see them refining their art quite well..
absolutely brilliant !!!! I was going to mention I hear people constantly comparing it to 90s Pokémon but I think it is a lot more reminiscent of 90s magic the gathering. The first set of magic the gathering had the power 9.. One of those nine cards was the black lotus which almost everyone has heard of. in mtg the power 9 are now the most expensive magic cards ever and usually the most sought after. in Metazoo there is even a kind of gimmick of the power 9 and called the obnoxious 9.. some of the biggest hits outside of mothman. That’s why people were commenting on the chaos Crystal you got the other night. it’s one of the better if not the best obnoxious 9. i think.
I have never been more excited for a new TCG. So happy to see you opening some metazoo on your channel

The way those cards are shrink wrapped brings a lot of nostalgia during my card collecting days 😭😭
Seems like all the spell books for the first edition contain all reverse holos. Seen several openings with no holo pulls
I received my box today, got a moth man holo regular not reverse.
Same with Nightfall Spellbooks. I’m thinking that’s how the Spellbooks are. I opened 3 and got 2 full holos (not even Beasties) and a few decent reverse holos. From a collectors standpoint, better to keep them sealed.

The fact that it seems like only adults are interested in this and the prices are so high already makes it seem like a quick pump and dump scheme to me
Also remember that people are paying premiums for the first run of the cards because they have seen what Magic and Pokemon has done over 20-30 years. The 1st Ed individual booster packs (at my LGS) were like 4.99 which was the same as Pokemon 25 years ago. As mentioned, I think the 2nd print run will be the key (which they should do asap).
I wouldn't be surprised if the sealed prices for 1st Ed even drop by the end of August when the flipping stagnates.
@@theduskwoodsnuffer2569 Gary is a terrible example for "healthy" markets and people who actually care about the hobby. He's one of the biggest reasons everyone treats cards like this
I watched Channel Fireball when this was selling on there and the very first products that consistently sold out for the four or five restocks were the theme decks for $14.99. That tells me a lot of people are wanting those to open and play the game. You can't tell me that there aren't many Magic and Pokemon players who buy sealed product to sit on for years. I would imagine those are adults, as well, and not kids. These are called collectible trading card games for a reason.
@@theduskwoodsnuffer2569 Gary did know because he purposefully inflated the price over a series of publicity moves, such as on pawn stars. He doesn't give a shit about kids
I got one of those but mine is staying sealed. I'm a ETB collector so this fits right in my collection 🤘
The booster boxes seem to have more holos, and the spell books have more reverse holos. I like the reverses a lot though
Interesting. The three theme decks I've opened have had all reverse holos in the booster packs, as well. Got a space penguin RH, Fresno Nightcrawlers RH and Chupacabra RH.

I like the art because it's got an ameuturish vibe. Reminds me of stuff like really old dnd and rpg books when they just got friends and whoever was near by to do art. Feels real vintage and nostalgic

Thank you for the video. BTW, that last pack contained a red in error on the card Pass Trap. The error is in the Cryptid Nation Rarity spot and is the symbol.

@@Penterror I also play Magic and taught my nephews Pokemon (which I don't care for because of the simple gameplay), but I really love the cards, gameplay and community of Metazoo. I was around when Magic and Pokemon came out but never got into it, but, for some reason, this makes me feel like a kid again when I open it. Can't describe it. To each their own.
I fomo'd a booster box when i saw your steam i got mine for 250 on ebay im keeping mine sealed just until the next set comes out in october i wana see if the price goes to the moon

I was weirdly turned off instantly at first glance of metazoo but after I gave it a chance I was totally blown away by this game and the cards look at the quality and the beautiful holo. I’m glad to say I now love metazoo and I’m extremely lucky to have a sealed box for my collection and some blisters I hope more people come to love metazoo because it’s a really great addition to all tcg’s. As a collector I’m very optimistic for metazoo’s long term success !! Just give it a chance I’m sure you won’t regret it !!
