  • Changing out the front rotors on a BMW 650i due to them being worn and causing some steering wheel shake when the brakes are applied. Shaking when braking is a sure sign that the rotors have damaged areas on them as it causes the brake pads to grab the rotors irregularly. This is a super simple DIY and takes minimal tools...the hardest part is getting the brake calipers off, but even that is not very hard if a dead blow hammer and a breaker bar are used.

Hello There Steve, Your informational videos are great. I like how you explain the problem and repair. The brake and shake is exactly what my car is doing. It feels very dangerous especially in the mountains. Need to get rotors replaced very soon and maybe brake pads too. Thank you for your videos. You’re the best mechanic I have ever seen.

Hey man ! Thanks…I really appreciate it 👍. Yep, it’s not a good feeling once they develop a slight warp…especially when driving in twisty mountain roads or long down hills where the brakes are constantly applied. The hotter the rotor gets from applying the brakes, the worse the shaking gets once they get a little warp in them…and it never will get any better till the rotor is changed out. Thanks again and all the best !
