I had the rare privilege to get to party with Hank Jr. one night at a bar in Newport, Ky., named "THE FUZZ CLUB". It was a Sunday night, and I was sitting there at the bar listening to the band, and in walked Hank Jr., there by himself to visit with the musicians in the club. We sat side by side at the bar, and he bought my drinks and we danced all night long. He was a perfect gentleman, and very down to earth. He didn't act like he thought he was anything special. He was delightful, and I will never forget the night I got to party with Hank Jr! Not too many people get to say that!

Gave me his autograph. Good show that night. He played on a college gym floor that was fixed up with an elevated stage. This was BEFORE he was a megastar. I've never forgotten how nice he was! I had a front row seat. Suffice it to say...late '72 was not the nicest part of his life, apparently! But, he didn't let us down that night! Great showman!
Love Holly's singing voice and she does amazing things with a guitar. Shame they didn't let her figure it out on this vid. Says something about Hank that he offers to let her pick a key... a natural born guitar ringer for sure... both of them.

Hank Jr. has a lot of great ones, but I've always thought this is the ultimate Hank Jr. song because it's so intensely personal. The original version is on "Habits Old and New" - which if I was pressed to choose, I might call the best Hank Jr. album ever. "The Blues Man" version on that record is very raw and stripped down - one of my favorite songs I've ever heard. I really liked seeing this vid because originally in the song, Hank Jr. was basically writing it and singing it to Holly's mama Becky, if you listen to the words. Holly resembles both her mother and father.

Finally the Country Music Hall of Fame has done the right thing and put Hank Jr where he belongs . In the HOF with the greatest of all time Hank Sr. The Williams family have provided me with great music for over 43 years . Congratulations Hank !
