  • If you are planning to use your DSLR for extended period of time, having a battery that doesn't need to be charge is very useful.
In this video, we also show how to create a your own dummy battery that can be powered from USB for a Nikon camera. The steps and concept should be same for other types of camera battery but you may want to confirm this.

I have tried this as you have demonstrated with a Kastar el14 battery circuit connected to a 3.1 amp 5v power supply but no power to my nikon d5300, i noticed on the battery circuit there's another terminal the battery is connected to would that have something to do with it?

Great tutorial. Thank you so much. I only have one question: Is nothing happening with the third contact, the MB? Shouldn't any cables go there? Only positive and negative?

Step up module se volts milte hain at the cost of Amps.... So, in my perception, it will work with a slightly higher amps charger or battery.

Hello. So thanks for the video. How much improvement did you see with the diy battery? Was there any overheating issue with the camera and what kind of runtimes did you get with the battery pack

The runtime is as long as the battery is plugged in on the other side, so indefinitely. And there have not been any overheating issues. 😀

Yes, you could maybe try increasing the voltage slightly.

It is different for every camera model. Check to see what voltage a fully charged battery for your camera outputs.

Connecting the output of the step up circuit to the + and - of the pcb gives 0 V output at the terminals. Is my PCB damaged?
Alternatively, can I connect the output from the step up circuit directly to the + and - terminals i.e. the pin of the battery where the camera connects to the battery.

If you're getting a 0v output by the terminals something is definitely wrong. You could try bypassing the PCB, as you said, and see if that works. However, some cameras might communicate with it for safety reasons.

Make sure all your wiring is correct and the adapter is giving the correct voltage output.

USB Power supply will not work as it need 2 amps and the actually voltage is 8.47 volts. Doubt this works.
