This video has so many hints and possible ways of interpretation:
First of all there are references to earlier songs and videos like "Ich Will" ("heist", haircut, smoking), "Mein Herz Brennt" (grid, cave), "Deutschland" (red beam and coffin in space shown at the official countdown to the premiere) , "Liebe ist für alle da", "Mann gegen Mann" (masses of bodies), and of course: "MUTTER" (cave with grid, Till in cave, "Mutter 22" on the laboratory door).
It looks like they are on a crusade (crosses in focus) using a car with "LIFAD 6" as number plate: LIFAD is the official fan community of Rammstein and also the name of their sixth album.
They enter the Paris opera house and shoot their way towards the "laboratory". While doing so, they are "dirty", dressed up for the fight. Flake mages to get the door opened with his hacker tool.
On the door you find the letters “Mutter 22”. This can have (at least for me) two meanings: Their third album Mutter was released in 2001 and will become 21 years old next year. Even more fitting is another explanation for me:
Around the time of “Mutter”, the band had internal conflicts and they were even close to a split. Beside other things there were disputes about the artistic future. So, they open the door “of “Mutter” and behind it there are clones of themselves. And they somehow have a kind of similar looking to the fetus (a 200 year old dead fetus btw.) One could see those “clones” as former beings of them from the “Mutter” area. Beside that the always straight red beam (past and future / red thread) has lost its direction. Like the band wasn’t clear which way to proceed. The current Rammstein change their behavior, become soft, sentimental, … before they burn down the lab and their “Mutter” clones. For me it shows, that they had to break free from the situation they were in, but nevertheless it was their live and their success, …
The following scene will introduce the cave to us. From above there are six statues looking / facing downwards into it. Down there are the band members in a cage surrounded by masses of creatures (for me the fans). The band members in the cage are attached to chains, which are pulled by the creatures (fans). The band is stuck in a cage is in hell. The masses are following them, but they are are also “tormenting” the band. The fans themselves are also stuck in hell themselves.
Within the cave the band is first in the cage and has metal “helmets” on and the creatures don’t move.
Then they get rid of the helmets and the fans start to move. The bands gets more energetic. Finally they get free and rise towards heaven, smiling, but there is still some firing of guns. With them the fans rise up.
The next scene is still irritating: The band is on ground level of the opera again, moves towards the cage and they all jump into the cave. Now you see the “band-creatures” standing on top of the cave. They rise their arms and it seems that they are pulling down the giant statues from the top of the cave. Everything crushes down, but the straight red beams rises upwards. They had to crush the hell with the giant statues as “gods” at the top and the band caught in a cage at the bottom to have a straight direction again.
While the credits of this incredibly insane production are shown, one can see the dead band members lying on the floor towards the laboratory door. Right in front of the door with still “Mutter-22” on it, we find the dead Flake with his not successful hacker tool trying to unlock the door.
Is this an alternative ending? Maybe. Somehow.
I get the idea, that there are two time layers woven together. In the past the crushed the hell, escaping the boundaries given by fans, public, media and very probably even themselves. They were successful and the band had a future, represented by the straight upward red beam.
But history can repeat. They are always endangered to get trapped again, to be torn apart. And therefore in 2022 there can be a new “Mutter-Crisis” like in the original one. They have to be aware of it and have to fight it every time it happens. When they nowadays find their “clones” behind that door, they know, they have to “burn” them down, but they have now a more differentiated view onto the past and therefore there is also sympathy for and an emotional connection with their “clones”. But if they do not face the danger of getting trapped again (as clones or as caged creatures) there will be no future for Rammstein. Then band “THEN” would die and the red beam would disappear. But if they are aware of it and if they continuously succeed to avoid being trapped again, there IS a future for the band
All these ideas written down here are my personal thoughts. They can be one explanation, they can be wrong, they can be one of many interpretations. I still have so many question marks myself. But also some ideas, that might be not totally wrong.
Thank you!
I don t care I just loved reading this
Yeah, I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. Some of it I was thinking about myself, and some I missed because I haven't followed them closely throughout all the albums and know the lyrics in-depth. Interesting comment indeed
I'm kind of indirectly defending myself by saying this as I tend to do the same occasionally, but the bit at the end, while inclusive and disclamatory (is that even a word? - if not it should be) is unnecessary. You beautifully interpreted the imagery in the video and your knowledge of the band and their discography greatly helped me (and I'm sure others) see some of the underlying messaging. I'd bet good money you were pretty much spot on in your analysis.
Kudos,
and have a nice day my friend :)
This is pretty much a bang on interpretation of the video
*@Music2See Concert Photography*
Wow... - in my eyes that´s damned the best interpretation of this video at all...
...perhaps the only *realistic* interpretation of it I´ve ever read.
I´ve sitten for a long time after I read these lines, thinking about it - and now I´m sure: This must be in the sense of RAMMSTEIN - how could be the meaning of their artwork >>Adieu
NEVER never ever apologise for showing emotions Chief.
Music, especially when it's as beautiful as this, moves us all .
Thanks for sharing
Thank you, my friend :) I appreciate this a lot and I couldn't agree more. Nothing moves me in the way that beautiful music does, even typing about it right now is making me feel that tingle in my chest, we are blessed to experience it
@@Chief322 I want to give you a hug, but instead I'll just subscribe 🥹
@@Chief322 I feel your emotions. Indeed it moves us all.
so true what you say,bro!!!
Yeah I wept too. IDK why I wept at Zeit music video, I wept at their concert ending with Adieu. I wept at the music video too not knowing what the future holds for my favourite music group
You are a real man. You can show emotions. Those who can't are cowards.
es ist schön zu sehen, wie Musik auf emotionale Menschen wirken kann. Danke .
Danke, mein Freund :) Ich bin ehrlich gesagt froh, dass ich dem Song gerecht werden konnte. Es ist wunderschön!

Hey, greetings from Germany. I think it's nice that you let your emotions run wild. My husband passed away last year at the age of 52 and this song gives me a lot of strength.
Paul (one of the guitars) has said that this song is not a retirement, Is just a song to say goodbye to the loved people who passed away. Is just another piece of art by Rammstein as always
I know some people might think it's stupid, but this song truly means so much to me and I'm happy to watch your reaction to the music video ♥
I don't think you realise how many times I listen to this song. I kinda feel like they're saying goodbye but I know they're not. But it still gives me those feels every single time
@@avenged8254 the album was released while my dad was dying from cancer, so the song then already was special to me. He eventuella died on June 3rd and I was at their concert on June 15th....it was a highly emotional and also cathartic experience, I'll never forget.
@@darkpaca I'm am truly sorry to hear that. So your first comment isn't stupid. It has true meaning.
@@avenged8254 definitely, a lot of meaning to me. I think I've just met many judgemental people when it comes to these things haha so I try to excuse away things I don't need an excuse for at all
Nothing stupid about that. My condolences. My hubby died three years ago. I used Ohne Dich for the funeral. Their songs go deep on so many levels
When I saw them perform this past summer and they ended with this song, I felt it in my soul 🥰 if RAMMSTEIN wants you to feel something, you WILL feel something.
Saw them live a bit over a week ago. This was the outro song again. It was something when the crowd was waving at the band and singing the chorus together.
I never saw such an honest reaction. I thank you for this . Rammstein is art. I don't know anything comparable. Greetings from Berlin 😊
Wow... I *like* this guy - I *really* like him...
...someone who *really* has a sense for such an artwork.
I´ve watched a *lot* of "react videos" about RAMMSTEIN´s >>Adieu
Thank you for showing your true emotions
Awhhhhh want a hug❤
The same thing happened to me :( OMG I GET IT! I am crying for the second time seeing you cry too. 😭😭😭 I don't remember a time when Rammstein werent there. I TOTALLY get it.
This is the first time I've seen you pass by, although I often watch reactions on Rammstein video's. Your reaction is a year old, sorry I missed you. I notice that you are a real fan and understand their feelings and feel them yourself. For this reason alone I think you are the best. Judging by this reaction, I think you are a real man with a good heart. Man, I really like you!
LOVE !!! i had the same feelings bro
I love your ability to show that your a true genuine person. I've seen only a few people in this world that have the strength to let their guard down to show their true feelings regardless of social perception. Major kudos for having the chutzpa to let it out. Never apologize for being a good human being. 👍
100% this. Being vulnerable, especially online can be a super scary thing. Good on you for being able to let your emotions out and share them with your community. We all appreciate it. ❤
Great reaction! The song is so moving! The the very speacil thing is, that the language doesn´t matter. Only Rammstein transport such feelings like this...
Yes, they are able to do that.
Einer der wundervollsten 'reaction Videos' die ich bisher gesehen habe. So real 🖤
I cried when I first heard the song. And next time. And the third time...
I legit got emotional during the concert in August this year when they performed this. What a way to finish a concert
Fuckin ell mate, that bit where you talked about feeling all on your own even if you are surrounded by the people you love, really caught me by surprise, deep.
I found myself in a bit of a pickle, twice in my life. It was close and it really does feel like that.
Thanks for this reaction. That was beautiful to see.
I sometimes ride my bike through the countryside and when there’s no one around I belt out the lyrics of this one. It’s a fantastic song. Thank you so much for sharing with us, and like mentioned by others, wish I could give you a hug 🤗. So I’ll just send a digital one. I can’t wait to see Rammstein next year, they end the show with this song I believe.
that`s the most emotional reaction i ever seen.Thank you for your true emotions.i feel the same, you`re not alone.
This was EXACTLY my reaction to this video too - AND I cried when they played this at the show too. Best band on the planet.
Aaawwe, bruz....Rammstein is Moving as FUCK boiiiiee! 😊
Good on you for sharing this.
Emotion is the most important truth.
🖤
I think that when we first heard Adieu we were all moved to tears... never apologize for being moved, yes, men can cry❤️🔥
They ended the show with this in June. This song is better than anything they have done. It perfectly ends the album which is mostly about time. An absolute masterpiece by the industrial metal band known as Rammstein.
Love this reaction btw.
I could've put money on this song making you cry. It's beautiful
Bro.. I have listened again and again, probably on my 6th listen now (because stream time lol) and I STILL am struggling to not get choked up. It's absolutely gorgeous. Probably one of my favourite Rammstein songs ever tbh.
Thank you so much, bro
Thanks for that reaction , we have all cried when it comes to lyrics , dont apologize. I dont understand German but their songs are great with the sounds and visuals that draw you in and make you feel what they do.
Aww you're such a sweet soul. It is a very moving song especially for those times in life when you must traverse alone, without friends or family support largely, and you have to figure shit out on your own. It's frightening and lonely, but ultimately empowering and liberating. You'll eventually find your way to like-minded folks if you stay on the right path and avoid being overly reliant on others for your experience.
Youre a beautiful soul. Music hits. Especially bands you love, and dont apologise. When bands produce quality music, like rammstein, sabaton, HIM, they know how to hit the emotions. Till cant retire to the cottage yet! (In france) he is a legend and we'll miss them!
This is what Rammstien does to one. Your reaction was appreciated, I have cried many times
the piano version of herz brennt has made me tear up several times. I love knowing there are others that get emotional over powerful music too
The end music is from Zeit so that in itself is sad and why you found it beautiful, but what another video masterpiece, worry ye not theyre not going anywhere. Don't worry about having a cry either, a lot of us do to rammstein, Nightwish etc etc. You should know by now people who watch are ok with showing your emotions.
It had a sick effect on me, a real emotional rollercoaster, a killer... the music, Till's voice... everything pierced my heart. I was literally stuck, my mouth open and tears streaming. And what can I say live... your reaction makes me relive that moment, it's touching and I understand how 🖤🤟
Hi from Germany 😊
Love your Reaction
This is what music can do...never apologize for emotions..as a german i know that we have an amazing language ..and most of us love to play and paint with words🥰
Ja genau, ich stimme Dir voll zu. Yes indeed, I agree to your statement totally. Which german band got the permission to play ever in the "Opera de Paris"?
This shows great trust and respect for RAMMSTEIN. We can and should be proud to admire this video clip in this great opera house.
Very thanks to the republique francaise and very thanks to the administration of Paris.
Music united, we are all friends and enjoy the music!!
Thank you for sharing!! ❤❤ you're not an emotional mess. We feel the same. Btw, the lyrics were meant for a few friends they lost last year. But there are a lot of other things going on as well in the video.
Experiences bring up emotions. The best substitute for an experience... is music.
The band has said they wrote this in tribute to some friends, lost over the past few years. The band is not over, I promise
I came here a year later, and I was expecting some channel to react to this music video. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who cried when this video came out. Thanks for sharing it and for being emotional like you were in this video. Greetings from Chile, my friend.
I dont get why men showing emotions is still stigmatized these days and i say it proudly : I cryed along with you my friend. Thank you for sharing your emotions with me !
🫂💜 Much love, my friend. Much effing love. Thank you 🥹
It’s just how and why you cry. Crying because of a loss or something comparable is 100% natural and everybody understands it. If you cry every day and act like a baby, then it’s just weird.
Not sure that's the happiest way to wake up :D anyway I enjoyed the vidéo, keep on the good work. Cheers!
Music goes straight to the soul. People who receive this, directly, are good people.
Rammstein are the greatest!
🙁 ADIEU 😢
😔GOODBYE😕
Nur der Tod währt alle Zeit
Er flüstert unterm Tannenzweig
Muss alles in sein Dunkel ziehen
Sogar die Sonne wird verglühen
Only the death lasts all time
He whispers under the fir branch
Must draw everything into its darkness
Even the sun will burn out
Doch keine Angst, wir sind bei dir
Ein letztes Mal, so singen wir
But no fear, We are with you
One last time, So we sing
Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
Den letzten Weg musst du alleine gehen
Ein letztes Lied, ein letzter Kuss
Kein Wunder wird geschehen
Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
Die Zeit mit dir war schön
Adieu, goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
The last way you must go alone
One last song, one last kiss
No miracle will happen
Adieu, goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
The time with you was beautiful
Aus dem Leben steigst du leise
Die Seele zieht auf stille Reise
Fleisch vergeht, Geist wird sich heben
Das Sein wird sich dem Tod ergeben
Ja
Out of life you go quietly
The soul goes on a silent journey
Flesh will pass spirit will rise
Being will surrender itself to death
Yes
Am Ende bist du ganz allein
Doch wir werden bei dir sein
In the end, you are all alone
But we will be with you
Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
Den letzten Weg musst du alleine gehen
Ein letztes Lied, ein letzter Kuss
Kein Wunder wird geschehen
Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
Die Zeit mit dir war schön
Jeder stirbt für sich allein
Ganz allein
Doch du wirst immer bei uns sein
Everybody dies alone
Completely alone
But you will always be with us
Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
Den letzten Weg musst du alleine gehen
Ein letztes Lied, ein letzter Kuss
Kein Wunder wird geschehen
Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
Die Zeit mit dir war schön
Adieu, goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
The last way you must go alone
One last song, one last kiss
No miracle will happen
Adieu, goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen
The time with you was beautiful
The best reaction video I've ever seen. I thought I was the only one reacting so emotionally on Rammstein. Thanks mate!
Thank YOU, my friend. That's such a nice thing to say. You're definitely not alone in your feelings to this one, and a few others honestly, they get me every time 🥹🫂 Much love, my friend! I hope life is treating you well 🤘🏻
If you watch Rammstein you will get all the history of germany....poetry, literature, politics , past, present and future....they are timeless items and may be we think more about this issues.....
You have to be sad sometimes in order to be able to be happy at other times. Thank you for posting this. I think starting your day crying is not the worst idea ever. It reduces stress hormones and releases feel-good ones (if you let yourself cry until you are done, that is). There are worse ways to start a day than crying into a cup of coffee 💙😉
Awesome reaction!
I lost my parents 1 year ago. This song is such beautiful, but it hurts - I can feel with you!
This song closed the show on the tour last year in North America. Accompanied by an epic lightshow, it was a fitting conclusion. Leaving the stadium I honestly felt I had just been to Church.
Hello dear. That was a heartfelt reaction.
Regarding the song respectively the video I thought about it for quite a while now.
First of all, taking in consideration their incredible creativity in their art, I never believed it's their goodbye song to the fans.
My 1st take of the meaning of this masterpiece musically and visually, was they are dealing with the crises and the almost breakup of the band when the "Mutter" album was released.
But taking in consideration what this album's theme is about "Zeit"-time it wasn't an all satisfying conclusion, something didn't fit. Why go back to that particular time, when the rest of the album deals with topics of small and large craziness of this time? Like plastic surgery gone wild (ZickZack), xenophobia (Angst), awareness of life/time (Zeit).
Now my momentary take of the video is, that they are about to terminate their contract with Universal (the guard's badge, who gets shot first, reads Universal. And the sign above the front door says the same. That's why the vault door says mutter22.
They changed the record label after the "Mutter" album as well.
Also after that album their music style started to change slowly to what you hear today.
Some fans of the first hour are not happy with the way their music evolved. So yes, it's kind of a goodbye to those, because they clearly will not go back to their 'old' sound. I'm a fan since the song "Engel" was released. (Never forget the 1st time I heard it. I was in an Irish Pub in Germany back in the day).
And I always embraced the evolution of their music.
Do you know their song "Feuer und Wasser"? Such an underrated song. educatedmarine made a custom made video. Might wanna check out his channel.
With love from Germany 😎 🤘
This is pure art ❤️ when I first saw this I was crying so much that I really didn't concentrate too much on the details of the video but then i rewatched it and i noticed there are parts of other Rammstein videos in this video..I saw Mutter, Ich Will, Любимый Город (beloved town), Mein Herz Brennt, Zeit and Deutschland. I'm pretty sure there's more but that's what I noticed. They are saying goodbye to themselves or to the old Rammstein? Im not sure but I think in the video their intentions were to kill themselves and reinvent themselves to leave the old Rammstein behind and make room for the new Rammstein but in the beginning of the video you see flake on the laptop and they are right outside the big vaulted door that says Mutter and Flake is trying to get it open and you see it open and they continue to go in... but then at the very end it shows them all dead laying outside of the big Mutter door and Flakes laptop is still running which means that they never made it inside and even though they tried to kill their past selves and thier past/old Rammstein they did not succeed. I think a lot of old groups get to a point where they start to change to try and stay current because they are told that they are too old or that their style is old etc. And some bands change and bow down to the pressure and for some it works but most of the time it fails and they lose themselves and begin to fade away and I think that Rammstein had that experience but decided not to change or comply with the external pressure of people telling them to change...to me it shows that whatever they decide to do or whatever they decide to change it's because they themselves wanted to make the changes and not because of being pressured by society. Only Rammstein themselves will decide when and how to say goodbye....
no need to apologise for emotions. First of all we are here to see your reaction and a reaction without emotion is usually very blank. Also emotions are what make us human :)
You cry not alone thats is ok ! This Video is so amazing . Rammstein is older and better from Video to Video!
You're not alone I was crying too, I hope Rammstein don't say goodbye.
I just found this amazing band 5 weeks ago, Rammstein is now my absolute favorite band ever and they are all I listen too every day.
Rammstein have me hooked.
My dream is wanting to see them Live in concert if they ever tour Down Under to New Zealand.
Loved your reaction, I have just subscribed and look forward to more Rammstein reactions.
You did it really good bro. I always feel same emotional like you did. Nothing to shame!!!
Go ahead!
There is much I wish to say, but my body likely won't let me manage it all, so here are some possibly random thoughts out of my brain and heart (and fingers. to type. you get the gist) about this song and things:
Rammstein consistently make incredible music videos, with such incredible attention to detail. Often including full intro and outro footage and/or audio, that the entire feeling or meaning of a song can be changed at the end, even maybe in the credits! As you now know with Zeit (as you described in this video, as this is my first time here so I didn't yet see your reaction to Zeit or the cardinal sin of not watching to the end)
It feels like every frame of every video they put out is intentional and meaningful, it is there on purpose, and there are no moments that aren't somehow relevant. IMO.
Everybody talks about their Live performances, and rightly so for they are immense, epic, incredible! But so are their Music Videos and I think sometimes some of the incredible beauty and additional layers of meaning and just the pure artistry and production values and everything, sometimes they are missed because of the focus on their Live shows.
It is my feeling that some of the best reviews, reactions, responses, realisations etc (be it an individual alone just chilling enjoying their music, or when recorded for YT etc, that doesn't matter) occur when one views the Official MV (or listens to the album audio if no video) and then also watch/listen to the song played live. Seeing how they create a spectacular music video that is like a full on film and all the nuance and layers of meaning that I no doubt still miss a lot of them due to being not-German, but there's so much more that is understood through the MV. But then seeing them Live, how they perform that same song, whether it plays into a different aspect, how do they play and choreograph the song, which pieces are emphasized and which are not, Till's incredible voice and so on, they all give context and texture and meaning. So then when you take everything together you are rewarded with a different and perhaps more complex or complete perspective and deeper understanding and appreciation.
Regarding lyrics and getting the best understanding I often look for more than one translation of their lyrics because sometimes people interpret something differently, Idk if correctly or not in terms of grammar, but it can add an unexpected layer or twist or meaning too.
I enjoy comments and communities where discussion and conversation are encouraged, because the comments are turned off on all the Official R+ videos, so fan videos, reactions, explanations, analyses et-al provide a place where people can discuss the music, the meaning, the different interpretations people have. Sometimes someone has an idea or theory about something that just suddenly makes sense or gives a new meaning.
To me Zeit is a 'concept album' in that it all kind of ties back together and while being "very Rammstein" it does also stand alone, by which I mean somebody could listen through the Zeit album without necessarily knowing the band or not knowing them well, and definitely still get something from it. It also seems to have captured the zeitgeist of the time it was written very well.
There are 3 reasons why I do not believe Adieu is the end of Rammstein (I mean technically 2 good reasons and 2 half reasons but that is like 3 reasons!)
1. The 2023 Europa Stadion Tour coming this summer. But no UK dates this time (sad face. Still overoptimistically hoping they'll shoehorn one or two dates in, but...) so if Rammstein won't come to me, I'll go to them. But yeah, they're touring again this year now, I keep forgetting it's January again
2. At a 'meet and greet' during the 2022 European tour apparently Paul responded to a question from a fan about if this song meant the end of the band, saying that they weren't planning on stopping and still were having fun with the band
0.5a. The first song on the album Zeit asks us in the lyrics to come with them (the band), to fall in line and walk in step with them. They then proceed to take us through the album, and the last song is Adieu, where the lines with the parts about 'the last way you must go alone but we are with you' could be interpreted as simply being that they have taken us through the journey of the album Zeit
Run out energy
The last music is teary
US Army Infantry guys get it
And this particular video has a part of the "Zeit" and "Germany" in it. That made it that much more touching. ..even when I'm a Finnish guy.
I've started putting your reactions on "in the background" while I work. Such great music that you cover, and your chatter (and occasional crying, ha ha) feels like good company.
This song make me tear up too, some songs just do it. I don't know why.
But I have to mention, I saw Rammstein live the summer 2022 and it was just pure magic. This was their ending song and I had never heard it before, but it was perfect for a ending on a live concert! It almost sounded patriotic.
..probably somebody answered already.. In principle, is a goodbye to the old Rammstein musics, yhat fans kept asking them for, in concerts.. But also slowly preparing to leave.. I believe it was said last tour this year..
Mind blown! This video is a work of art! I have probably watched it about 100 times! Chills everytime!
What a sympatic & onest Reaction👍 That Song was played at the Funeral of my very best Friend/Soulmate, a view weeks ago🙏🕊🙏May he Rest in Peace🙏🕊🙏

Watched you today ❤ seriously you are a very special person…. When you cried I had to cry too 😪

I understand you so much ❤️ this song makes me feel the same as you bc reminds me of my grandpa who passed away 4 years ago on this day
Don't ever apologize for getting emotional. Rammstein has the ability to make you cry, angry, scream, laugh... They are one and only to me. And this song is emotional to me too. I cried hundreds of times listening to it. At first I thought they were saying goodbye to us, their fans, but then it turned out they didn't. It is just a ferwell song to a loved ones. But still those lyrics get me because I know one day it will be the end and since Rammstein mean the world to me it is very hard to even think about that. And it might sound silly, I know, but there is not so many more important things in my current life than their music.
I’ve watched many reaction videos and your videos seem to be the most genuine. Keep it up 👍
Thank you so much 😊
Catching up on all your content brother! Seems like we’re on the same wavelength!
This legend right here
That one scene when they were all falling with the red laser looking light it looked like could be falling up or down the light dividing up or down heaven or hell or there equally the same. Full of ambiguity.
I lost my dad on the 12.october.2023 and this song helps me to get through the griev😢 danke rammstein für dieses lied! Greetings from schweinfurt germany
I had the exact same reaction. RAMSTEIN does get the feelings going for sure
At first some important references in the video for interpretation:
-References to religion are present throughout the video. The costumes that the band wears, the purification by fire, the scene where the band flies away in a whirlwind;
-The scene where Till passes his head outside the truck resembles one of the scenes of "Batman: The Dark Knight". Paul has a "Joker" badge on his jacket;
-The truck's plate reads "LI FAD 6", a reference to Rammstein's sixth album;
-The guard passing through the window has a "Universal Music" badge. The entrance to the Opera House (Opéra Garnier Paris) also says "Universal";
-The fight scene has several "Matrix" references;
-It is written "Mutter 22" next to the armored door of the chambers room. Flake's computer program looks like the artwork from the Mutter album;
-The busts used on the artwork of Video 1995-2012 are visible on the screens next to the caissons;
-On the gas can, a flower can be seen like on the album Herzeleid;
-The scene where the band floats in the sky is a reference to the movie "The Immortals";
-The red lasers (time beam) are of course the same as the ones in the video Deutschland
-Flake's (Keyboarder) notebook seems to contain his secret thoughts that no one should know, because he rips the notes out of the notebook and eats them. In one interpretation, the secret thoughts revolve around either Rammstein's music, which Flake often found too simple at the beginning of Rammstein, which is why he couldn't really identify with Rammstein at the beginning, and in the other interpretation, the announcement of the end of Rammstein , the exact date is still secret.
At the beginning, the band sits heavily armed in a troop transport as a kind of special task force and drives through a city at night while Till Lindemann sticks his head out of the window - just like the Joker in the DC film "Batman: The Dark Knight". The goal seems to be a red cone of light (time beam) that shines out of an opera house into the cloudy sky. (The opera represents “Universal Music”) The many Christian symbols that the viewer can discover in the car are striking in the first few seconds: a crucifix on the mirror, a Bible from which one page is torn, crosses as tattoos on the faces of the band members. A nod to the religious worship of rock stars and the great expectations of the band , which has always been very distressing for Rammstein. They celebrate the last supper - with cigarettes and liquor from a hip flask, similar to how Rammstein always does before they start a concert. The van stops, the band storms into the Opera/Church/Cathedral which is the powerful headquarters of Universal Music, to which Rammstein is contracted, while the car's license plate clearly reads "Lifad 6" - an acronym for the sixth Rammstein album "Love is for everyone" (Album „Liebe ist für alle da“).
A wild shootout begins. The band fights their way to a heavy metal door marked "Mutter-22". This is also a reference to an earlier album of the same name. In addition, the band obviously wears their style of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Till Lindemann, with black make-up and a mohawk, guitarist Richard Kruspe with jet-black hair that hangs in his face.
As the band members enter the room, they find their own bodies preserved in cryochambers. They mourn briefly and set the room on fire, apparently an older version of themselves. Her appearance is strongly reminiscent of the cover of "Mother".
The time around this album "Mutter" seems to have been central for the further career of the band. In several documentaries, the musicians stated that they almost broke up during this phase. The USA tour at that time was canceled - allegedly for health reasons. The main reason for the dispute was the different ideas of how one wanted to develop artistically. At that time, Till shot the video for the song “Mutter” (Mother) alone without the other band members. The band was about to break up and started doing therapy sessions together.
It also fits this picture that the band in the video for "Adieu" finds itself in a cage in the form of a Rammstein logo, similar to Till Lindemann in the video “Mutter”, besieged by hordes of zombie-like creatures that are apparently supposed to represent their fans - trapped in the Success.
After being overwhelmed by their "fans", the band members ascend to heaven. You can see her now, except for Lindemann, without make-up, freshly styled, apparently content. In exactly the same way, they throw themselves into the abyss (hell), from which the red cone of light shines. In Hell, they free themselves from the chains and thus free themselves. They crumble to dust and break out of the cage they were held in
The band addresses their career and the "turning point" after the album "Mutter", which almost led to their separation from Rammstein. In the video, this change is probably symbolized by the fact that the "new" version of Rammstein, who storms into the opera, had to kill the old one, because otherwise she would have perished herself.
The band members are preserved in the "Mother" room and their current versions march in and torch their clones with a petrol can. Are they not saying goodbye to the band, to themselves, as many believe, but to the idea of disbanding? It's an interpretation that also fits with a statement by guitarist Paul Landers:
When meeting a fan before one of the concerts on the European tour, he stated that "Adieu" was not a farewell because all members still had a lot of fun with Rammstein. Rammstein never thought about quitting. The songs on the new album „Zeit“ are based on experiences and losses that the band members had to go through. Now that they have reinvented themselves and have all the freedom, they are able to face the pressure and expectations and break out of the "cage" on their own.
The footage of the video, in which the band members are shot dead on the ground, shows Rammstein what would have happened if they hadn't managed to reinvent themselves. If the musicians hadn't managed to get into the room marked "Mother" and self-destruct there, they would be dead by now. So if they hadn't settled their disagreements at the time, Rammstein would have been long gone. Rammstein has overcome the times when there were many thoughts of quitting.
The other interpretation, which seems also very obvious: The video actually announces the approaching end of Rammstein. The Rammstein members break free from themselves in a painful process and die as seen in the end credits of the video and are released from all the star hype and expectations and can start a new life.
Fantastic reaction!! Somehow society has made it that if your a man and cry it makes you "weak",I beg to differ The only band thats ever made me cry is Rammstein. They write and perform classics that touch your soul.I cried like a baby watching Zeit and at the credit roll on this one as well Thats what music is supposed to do .touch your soul. Thanks again
Aw this has to be my favorite R+ reaction ever! I am now all teary eyed with you because I get it. I'm so glad you understand!!! Till really is such a poet. Totally underrated lyricist.
The video is usually interpreted as them saying goodbye to their old selves. Some fans say that the album "Mutter" was the last "real" Rammstein album. Rammstein seems to say goodbye to these fans with this video.
It is also interesting, when Richard lights a cigarette at the beginning, the door frame says "Universal" and the guards have the "Universal logo" on the name tag. It looks like Rammstein had a score to settle here.
Nothing wrong with crying dude 'hugs'. I was a blubbering wreck at the end of this video and that hasn't changed no matter how many times I watch it.
Again.. Thank you for what you do. This is breathing
What a lovely reaction!
So apparently you understand german that’s cool ☺️ this song gets to me too. greetings from Switzerland.
Right there with you dude amazing video again from the guys as per usual and a awesome reaction from.yourself too as always big love to you man and by the way hope you didn't get dribbley snot on that awesome band maid top eh !!!!😄🤘🤘
I love that they have chosen Zeit for the credits. A perfect circle of the time theme.
Nothing to excuse. Zeit made me cry too when i was in the same mood.
Love that you at least share your emotions...because I had those silent tears running ...and I didn't know really why ! There are different opinions about this video. To me a key scene is the last, the outro. They are lying dead in front of the Chamber , so they had a plan to fight to free and stop what is in the Chamber, the present (Mutter 22). I think they are trying to get those days in the beginning back, where there was the focus on the music, more pure. THE past has to rest because you can't change it ..but the memory will always come back and try to fit in the present... it's not working, they tried..! The lyrics of saying goodbye but "you will always be with us" ... Always remind yourself where you are coming from. The song itselfs hurts deep inside, thinking of all people I lost in the past and others who are sick and fighten for more time.
Music and band of my life..♥️🖤
I understand what you felt. I have the same emotions seeing this video, really the same emotions. Okay I am German and RAMMSTEIN-Fan, but this song is epic for me. Best regards...Oliver from Berlin/Germany
Rammstein has been through alot through the years. Lots of ups and downs. But very successful. It's one of two things. One it is showing them offing their former self to break through the cage they have been going through. Secondly it's also a goodbye to the cage they have put themselves in and a new chapter in their lives. To me it's not a farewell message to the fans it's a message to their former selfs. Whether they do split up which I don't see in the future but we all can't predict that. It's a new chapter new challenges in the bands live they have to face.
Thank you…..when I first got the Zeit cd. ….. and this song played, I cried and had a big hole in my heart. Still cry……. Ja.
Tearing up with you. Lost my whole family in the last ten years. Grandparents, parents, my two brothers. This year my wife left me after twelve years and took our son with her.
All I have left is to say Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen. I hate thinking of X Mas this year, all alone. Fuck it. Music makes it a little easier.
I send you huggies bro. I feel you. But the only thing that matters now is you. Be kind to yourself. Never give up. Nobody is worth it to give up. And christmas will be there next year and the year after etc. And yes, music helps a lot.
@@OneLifeIsNotEnough-d9p Thx. bzw. Danke.
@@elricofmelnibone8256 Gern geschehen. Ich fand deinen post sehr berührend deshalb hab ich geantwortet. Dir auch einen schönen Abend.
Kopf hoch
@@waheschau6864 Danke.
Don't think you can help but feel emotional to this song, it's beautiful, epic and an anthem. So powerful. I felt so emotional hearing it at the end of their concert. No one can pull you in like Rammstein. Will have this played, very loudly, at my funeral 🔥 when the time comes......
Good to see it's not just me that gets emotional listening to good music. I speak german, so maybe I can reassure you (somewhat). The song is not about the band quitting, it's about death. Maybe Till lost someone close to him recently, but there is no hint of anything personal. More likely a realization that he is passing from middle age to just plain old. I'm in the same boat, so the songs touching words give pause for reflection. Stay emotional chum!
Don't worry. Till has said that they will only stop when someone of the band dies.
Let's hope that they all have a long life ahead...
They saying Goodbye to old Times and death Friends
Don't sry for tears...the song catch you in youre own way and thats the best thing ever music can do.
And i love to see that real reaction.
This song and video is addictive, i watched it 100 times and i want to hear it more, and it's not only about the music but also about the message.
A song to say goodbye to the ones who have gone before us.
Thanks for this beautiful reaction and your emotions in it! Don't worry about them going. They won't. They announced their tour in 2023, so :)
Good reaction!! Nice sound! Thank U!
This is a goodbye to the old Rammstein, it is a sad song as they have to do awy with themselves, so to speak, but we know that their music has changed in the last couple of albumns, they are more mellow, do more fun stuff, but it is still Rammstein. I would like this to be played at my funeral, cremation, just as in the video. You are so right, listening to the song brings up those emotions.
I love youre reaction ❤️ warm greetings from germany..
Awesome reaction man, thanks 🙏
That was my first reaction. Don't speak a word of German but when I realized Adieu, Goodbye came in I was like WHY? NO WAY! and started tear up because it's RAMMSTEIN.
Chief, it is very reasonable and understandable to have such a purely Human response to music with this much power, never apologize for your feelers.... :) And btw, You really want to get messed up by Rammstein, watch Ohne Dich, I've seen it 3 times and cries each time, it's amazing.
I want to hug you sweetest soul ❤️
