I didn’t make the basketball team this year so I joined a rec league for basketball and started watching your vids and am doing much better I have been using this and my points boards and steals have all gone up. Thank you
My dad also played at Colgate 96'-99' and we watch your videos every day when I come home from school. We both love the videos and we also think that it is improving me a lot. I am 12 years old and when my dad and I shoot, he says "remember what Richardson said". Thank you so much for these amazing videos. I also really want to see your Finland games!! G🏀 Raiders
Ur awesome man, I have learned more about basketball from your channel than all of youtube combined. Keep doing what your doing, your gonna blow up soon.
I am in 7th grade... i had 3 games this week alone, i didn't do well in 2 of them. it's hard for me to put my head up. but i train every day, not only in my teams practice, i wake up early and i work. i hope to use these tips in my games! thanks for the sick video
the thing that helped me most about this video is "it's just basketball, have some fun." currently am 12 years old 5'10 220 lbs and on a team and I struggle with pressure and knowing how to actually understand things on the court like press and defence or where am supposed to be at times. Since am a bigger person then my age group I fall into the center or power forward category. But I am a lot better at shooting, step backs, ball handling, and just passing. Your videos have helped me a lot and I appreciate you passing on your advice and information you have gained through all your years of your basketball carrer. I'll keep all these methods in mind when my next practice game arrives or even any game in general.
You should not be putting pressure on yourself at 12 years old to do anything. At that age, it is about finding your love and passion for the game, and working everyday to improve. Seems like you are on the right path!
Bro your vids are actually so useful damn, I don't watch them all the time but when I do I learn so much, cause of them youve helped me to make a national team in England. 🙏
well I may be 9 months late but watching this video really helps me know what to do to make my team next year and how to play at higher levels so thank you
Although its been tough getting skill and improving my game on the two ways of basketball, I've realized a lot with this video, specially my willingness to hustle for rebounds, boxouts and blocks while still playing high level perimeter defense, which I think marks a new era in my playstyle as a wing. Great vid and thanks for the tips
Great video man! Going to be a junior in high school next year and I am going to need to fill the role of the #1 guy. Appreciate the tip, i’ll try to apply them more though out the summer in summer league and camps etc.
man I have a teammate who yells at me when i make a mistake or a turnover even know no one says anything about him when he makes mistakes, it just kills my confidence when i get yelled at for a single turnover. what do you recommend i should do?
This is such a tough situation. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. One thing you can try doing is to ask your teammate to have a conversation about the issue. I know this can be difficult, but in the long run it will help you and you will learn the skill of having tough conversations. Just tell them where you are coming from, that it is affecting you, and you are trying your best to help the team. Again, I know that conversation might be tough, but you will be better for it in the long run!
@@TuckerRichardsonnah thats pretty bad advice, a conversation isnt going to change shit. This is basketball not school, if he is better than his teammate then he should just tell him to stfu but if he is worse then he got some work to do. And btw the problem is on him, his confidence shouldnt be affected by something like that.
It's difficult I had that problem with a coach where even my teammates started to mention it to me, until my teammates mam told me to stop carrying just do me it was difficult but I kept trying to focus on that it took a while but it worked
I'm just writing for myself lmao 1. Interact with everyone 2. get right up 3. cheat on defense 4. play outside you position 5. Do the all little thing 6. Play with emotions 7. Be tge loudest talker on the court 8. Being able to shoot
Awesome... I've been putting my strong guards in the post when I see a mismatch, just for one play. They first looked at me like I was nuts, but they usually score or draw a foul. I call "PA +name" for Post Advantage. I probably stole from another coach but either way, the Guards love to get a post play called for them. They may get to flex as well... I may roll my eyes but I'm getting old and have to let the kids flex a bit.
Haha, the younger you can get kids to play in the post, the better! I wish I had been posting up in high school, especially at my size. But I just never really learned that skill, which I regret!
I just got into special Olympics playing basketball last I played basketball for a team was in 8th grade and it’s been fun to get back into the game of basketball last time I was with a basketball team it was in high school as a sophomore and I was a team manager and my goal has always be a head basketball coach one day
When you said about the loud voice on court i new exactly what you meant. One play a little while ago i was annoyed that nobodg was moving on offense when i brought the ball up so i shouted out 'MOVE'. One of my mates was guarding me and he nearly fell over laughing cos of how loud i yelled. My teammates did move tho 😂😂😂
I am a 4 in 6th grade who is a very good ball handler (almost as good as our pg) but only a few of the coaches I have had in AAU or school, have noticed this. How do I get them to notice my skill more?
I’m in 7th grade and I’ve been playing well in my games and am the leading scorer in most of my games but we usually lose and if I don’t get a really high scoring game we always lose so what should I do to change that and win more games and not have empty stats
que buenos videos haces hermano, estaría muy bueno que tengan subtítulos en español así pueden llegar a más gente. son muy valiosos y me ayudan un montón.
I'm a young player and I can't even score while my teamates are averaging 30... My coach tells me to go get rebounds even though i'm not that tall. I also struggle with confidance so I pass the ball as soon as I get it
Hi man I am a young hooper in a new team and I only have one friend I’ve been watching you for a while but I don’t have the confidence and I don’t get the ball a lot can you help me pls
Confidence comes from the work you put in. Keep working everyday to improve, and your teammates will eventually have to take you seriously. However, that is going to be a process, and certainly won't happen overnight.
on my team all the point guards are all ball dominant and will not pass. I get open, and talked to them about it but i never get the ball. what do i do?
I don't have much of an answer to be honest, this is a hard thing to deal with. I will say, there are ways to get the ball in your hands that don't have to do with your teammates. You could get a rebound and dribble it up the floor. You could get a steal and go score on the fast break, or fly in for an offensive rebound and get a bucket. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities.
I think it depends, but for the most part I think younger players should take more risks as opposed to playing it safe. That is the only way to really learn what you can do!
Is it better to have good form but less range, or bad form but more range? I personally have decent form with a high to mid set point but less range than my peers. Although their form isn't as good as mine, they have a lot more range. I'm am aged 13.
I'm not sure what you mean by bad form. If your shot is going in consistently, then that is a good thing. Especially if you can make shots from 3. For instance, I barely shoot any mid range shots, but take a ton of 3s. So each player is going to be different, but I personally value 3 point shooting the most.
Okay then yeah, that probably won't be good in the long run. It is hard to be a consistent shooter if your shot has those traits...@@bardiamahvebeydokhti847
Such an interesting question. I think the game continues to develop in new ways, almost every couple of years it seems like now. One thing I can predict almost for sure is that positionless basketball is going to continue to become more and more common. Most players are going to need skills like shooting, dribbling and passing to succeed. But in 30 years?? I have no idea haha. What do you think?
@@TuckerRichardson I think that it will become more pointless in the next 10 years but over the long run things like hand checking might return; a big complaint fans have is that defense is too soft. Top programs of smaller conferences like Drake, Vermont, Dayton, VCU; Gonzaga Saint Mary's might leave their conferences for money. Clubs may become big in the US and it could dethrone the monopoly college has on amateur to NBA pipeline. But yeah centers having to shoot threes will exist forever because it opens up your playbook exponentially.
Those are actually some really interesting ones. I'm worried about how NIL is going to affect college basketball but I do think it might settle down a little bit so that kids aren't flying from program to program quite as much as they are now. And yeah expansion of the NBA seems inevitable. @@811see
