I lived 20 minutes from Englishtown drag strip in New Jersey and got to see Prudomme, McEwen, Shirley Muldowney, and Don Garlits, among others, race. It was how I fell in love with cars - racing cars, specifically. Muscle cars, blown engines, rat rods, etc. Dad and I used to go to the NHRA's Summernationals. But I began seeing "The Snake" when he was sponsored by the U.S. Army, after his yellow car days. I have that Army funny car and McEwen's silver Corvette funny car from when my father bought them for me new. Thanks for the great memories, video and, as always, build. Best to you and Petra! The Ford Mustang Funny Car casting is kind of looking like a Ford Mustang had a baby with the Bat Mobile. Seen this casting also recently laying around at our local Aldi Süd but not the treasure hunt. Didn't know that these Funny Cars are a real thing for drag racing. I was thinking it is a fantasy model. Although I was shocked when you was stripping the treasure hunt but I must say the result is looking definitive better than the original.
Oh yes, the Funny Cars were a big deal on the 1/4 mile strip. Lots of fun. I have great memories of watching them peel off the line. Glad you enjoyed this one. 🍁☕👊

I've been on a big drag racing/NHRA kick the last few weeks, doing lots of research on the early days of Funny Cars, so this was a real treat to watch. Would love to see you modify a standard factory car into a Altered Wheel Base drag car at 1/64 scale! Excellent work and thank you for sharing this build.
@@MapleLeafCustoms Hot Wheels makes a few Altered Wheel Base cars like their Nova and Coronet they've put out in the premium lines many times, probably the coolest gasser casting to customize imo.

I mainly use Thingiverse while hunting for .stl files. Problem is, once I find and download them, I've renamed the files and organized them, making it hard to find exactly the same file again, at least online. Easier on my HD. If you let me know which ones you're after I can send them directly to you, with designer's names. I'll just need an email address from you. Keep in touch. I'm here for the long haul!
