Agreed. In fact, I know Stacey has already done several songs from this concert, but IMO, this is where she should stop and just run through the whole concert from start to finish in order. (Not necessarily in one video, but definitely need to do all the songs!)
I loved seeing you give Jukka, the drummer, so much credit. He was a fantastic drummer and a consumate showman. His severe insomnia made it impossible for him to continue drumming, but his replacement, and friend, Kai, also does a fantastic job. Emppu, the guitarist, can shred with the best of them, but he plays for the song and is a total team member. Marko and Floor do make a fantastic team. They are two great vocalists, and they harmonize so well together. If you really want to see what Marko can do, watch their video from the End of an Era concert "High Hopes". I love that you picked up right away that Marko immerses himself in the music, and becomes part of it.
@@jonathanratliff4780 i dont think they will ever eclipse Wacken 2013 it was the perfect show. They are only going to get older and less energetic (almost 30 years of performing as Nightwish for some of them so far) but they have left a legacy that puts respect on their names.
You're starting to sound like one of us when we tell people about Nightwish. Welcome to the army 🤗 You are 100% correct about drummers, there's a reason that it's the hardest spot to fill in any band. Also yes, yes she can, do anything.
Great how you picked up on Floor's trademark vocal timbre (3:15). I think it's got to do with a number of things. First off, she doesn't flip into full head voice but uses what's been described as a "modified classical style" that always stays "connected". Secondly, the harmonics she's always been able to produce are rich and well rounded This is where not only her vocal folds but also her vocal tract plays a huge role (which is anatomy & the reason why Floor always had "it" i.e. she's built for this sound, like her sister). The pitch/overtones that get produced by the folds in her modified way will resonate within her vocal tract i.e. the sound waves called "formants". Third point is the way Floor is able to modify the interplay of harmonics/formants in ways I can only guess. A mystery she'll no doubt be able to explain as the professionally trained vocal coach/vocal nerd that she is. The interaction of Floor's harmonics & formants is what you've probably picked up as reminding you of a soprano and an alto "feel". Great stuff (and I'm only 3 minutes in). Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
If you want to see Marko “look” different while singing, check out Ghost River, same show. Has so good back and forth between him and Floor. Also there might be more energy for the opening song, understandably, Dark Chest of Wonders.

That was a 3 octave glissando that Floor did in tandem with Marko. A Tarja era song , only Marko's 2 octave slide is on the studio version. Emppu doesn't shred like that often, they all play what the song needs. You love when Marko sings? Then we recommend you watch him sing lead ,on the cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from the 2005 Helsinki concert (End of an Era DVD), same show as the Phantom of the Opera video you watched. 🤘🤘.

The short vocal "stabs" is called staccato. Floor is a dramatic soprano, the most powerful type of soprano, but she's performed as an alto as well. Her performing "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" with Epica's Simone Simons is one such occasion - I highly recommend checking that one out, by the way. Thanks for another great reaction! Oh, and as a drummer I agree with you - we are a hard-working breed! 😁
Welcome to the entrance to the rabbit hole, Nightwish has been around since 1995 with a lot of different and beautiful songs composed by "the Mozart of metal" TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN If you like Marko's voice you need to listen to High hopes tribute to Pink Floyd. Great reaction 🤘
Marko has already worked well with the other two singers. He complements well with female voices. The latest example, only one month old: Exit Eden - Run! Feat. Marko Hietala (Official Video) | Napalm Records All players must be good in metal bands. The motto of the metal heads is faster, harder, louder. They want to drive themself and the instruments to the outermost. The mood in the band is special. This tour was about to demolish because there was no more singer. Tumas said the band was in survival mode. You can see that in the first picture of the band with Floor. Floor saved the band and tour. Floor says about the band that she found five new brothers. Tuomas says she came home. You can feel that too. Decide yourself, Floor with rock'n'roll ...: Northward - While Love Died (Official Music Video) ... or growl ...: Revamp - Disdain Live at Graspop (2010) ... or pop: Floor Jansen - My Paragon (Official Video) Seeing Nightwish Live is impossible in the near future. The new album will be released next Year and there will be no tour. Until further notice, we will no longer see them. But Floor will probably no longer just limit her solo program to Europe, Marko has already appeared in South America: Marko Hietala - Dead God's Son (Official Lyric Video)
Great reaction Stacey! You're catching on to this whole Nightwish thing beautifully. I finally found them in June of this year, and my life hasn't been the same - for the best of course 😊 Addicted? Oh yes 😊 More Marko? Marko and Floor together? Please please check out Ghost River from this same concert, and you must watch Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from 2018 Buenos Aires. So awesome, so fun! Peace and love to all from Wisconsin! ✌️❤️🤘
Great reaction tx, you also have to see and react to floor singing the phantom of the opera with henk poort in a program called "Beste zangers 2019" best duet ever :) greetings from Holland
Floor's husband is the drummer for Sabaton, a Swedish metal band that does songs that tell stories from world war 1, 2 and other times. Check them out when you have the chance. Best thing about them is that each song mainly sticks to telling the unit's / soldier's story, not the politics behind it.
Love your comments. The Valkyrie Goddess is a Dramatic Colorartura Soprano and she has a range of 5 or 6 octaves. The Wikipedia has not been updated. Hail the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy and her Brothers 😇 🙌 ❤ Jukka aka Pirate is the 🥁 drummer
@@tamasloki6456 agreed. Although I don’t particularly like Mariah Carey she has the widest known range of 5 octaves. Even Lisa Gerard, with her amazing low range only has about 3.7.
I know some consider it heresy to stray from Wacken 2013- it was a perfect performance from start to finish- but none of those songs were written for Floor. You really ought to look at some of the recent shows that correct that- say, Deichbrand Festival 2022 or Hellefest 2022. Great reaction, btw!
Having heard the version from the album with Anette, being at this concert and hearing Floor's version was a real treat. You should definitely check out Ghost River.
Emppu (guitar) like Dany (guitar, lead, backing vocals from The Warning) do the same thing. They play what the music needs, no more, no less. NW is a unit and they all play to serve the composition and lyrics, and engage with the audience.
if you want to get a better idea of Floor's range in a single song, then react to "Disdain" from her previous band, ReVamp. This was her band, she was the management and the driving force behind the music. So what you're hearing is what she wrote for herself, rather than singing someone else's music. ua-cam.com/video/iNSf64M9uA0/v-deo.html This was her "angry Floor" stage.
I can really recommend watching the whole show from Wacken 2013. its on UA-cam. Not as a reaction, but just for fun. Floor still says it was their biggest and greatest show for her since she is in the band. At the end of the concert the drummer and floor are almost crying and hugging the rest of the band in awe, Marco also emotional after they saw what they just did there in front of over 80000 from all around the world at a festival in a small village in Germany. You can see in the eyes and faces the "WTF this is great what have we just achieved" look. I play guitar and have played in very small places, but I think everyone can kinda see what it must feel like to play in front of so many people and with floor being newly into the band and you know if you played a great concert. if everything goes so smotth it must be magical to interact and see the reaction of the audience.
the entire show is on DVD, and UA-cam, titled "Showtime, Storytime"....also, for other shows; "End of an Era", the last show with original singer Tarja Turinen, a double DVD set "Vehicle of Spirit", 2015 shows from Wembley Arena in London, and Tampere, Finland, finally "Decades" from Buenos Aires, in 2018.....plus, with you being a former athlete, check out her biceps and delts.....
I will recommend two Nightwish songs that you will like . 1 - Lips are Still Red . Live at Wembley 2015 2 - The Greatest Show on Earth . Live at Wembley 2015
So, a 70’s kid here. I subscribed to your channel because you seem like you want learn. Great reaction. Nightwish is a great experience, this from a Led Zeppelin dude.
Yes, Marco has a fantastic voice. If you want to hear Marco take the lead then react to While Your Lips Are Still Red live from Wembley. It’s such a beautiful song. If you want to hear Floor do real growls then react to Yours Is An Empty Hope once again from Wembley.
Romanticide just flat rocks ! ! I read a couple years ago where Marko said in an interview - since Floor joined Nightwish, he didn't have to hold his vocals back - he wasn't puttin' Tarja or Anette down, he just meant with Floor, he could let his own vocals rip. If you want your mind blown, find and listen to Pink Floyds "High Hopes". Then watch the Nightwish tribute to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from the End of an Era concert. There are no words. Enjoy - - - - - - BTW, check out "Nemo" from that same End of an Era concert. WHOA
Nightwish - High Hopes Marco sings alone. You want a singing drummer? Here is a 3 sister rock band. The Warning - Dust to Dust (live Teatro Metropolitan)
Hey Stacey - There are a lot of songs with Marko doing the complete vocals!!! Check out "High Hopes" live, or "The Islander" live from Tampere. or for a ballad "Kiss while your lips are still red" live from Wembley - just to mention three of them. >>> And Floor growling? "Yours is an Empty Hope" Live from Wembley 😄
Bass & drums are the heart of a band. And drummers are the hardest working member. At the end of a night our drummer would take his T-shirt off &"wring the sweat out like he was doing laundry.
That was pretty good! Marko will surprise you as to how many different vocal styles he will bring. Marko loves to sing. He was the lead singer of his previous band. Correct Stacey. Drumming is a physical workout. The engine of the music.
Maybe as a streamer, you can do a live react to the whole Waken 2013 concert (there are some extra in between songs), then cutting into parts for this channel ;) Also, you can watch a performance with only the boys, with the very special Hugh Hopes, a tribute to Pink Floyd (also a special evening as after this special concert they fired their first singer Tarja, leading to the drama which in turn leads to the creation of The Poet and the Pendulum -- also Marko was sick and Jukka had a massive headache, but they performed as true professionals, only music, emotions, and a story to tell and feel). The rabbit hole is really deep :D Keep enjoying listening and feeling Nighwish.
Here for some Romanticide 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻👌🏻Check out the Islander from the Tampere concert to hear Marko. Or While Your Lips Are Still Red from the Wembley concert 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Floor Jansen, when she sings she expresses her emotions and at the same time moves our emotions, for that reason she is the Goddess and the best. Also, Floor and Marko are some of the best singers in metal. Unfortunately, Nightwish doesn't do this song anymore since Marko left because no one else can equal his voice.
For Marco singing in the spotlight, you should react to "The Islander" from The Tampere 2015 show (and for his softer side, "While Your Lips are Still Red" from Wembley 2015). A great example of Floor and Marco harmonizing, check out "7 Days To The Wolves" from Wembley 2015, and the best example of Floor growing is "Yours Is An Empty Hope," also from Wembley 2015
If you're not already familiar with it (I'd be shocked if you weren't), you should definitely do a reaction to Danny Carey's drum cam of him playing "Pneuma" live. This song (by TOOL) builds but the poly rhythms this man has dreamt up (which are most pronounced mid-way through) and is able to sustain is mind boggling! The dude is a living legend among drummers and non-drummers.
Hi Stacey, question / remark: If you like Floor (Nightwish) and Simone (Epica) Than I have something for you ! Check Ayreon !!! Begin with: Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017) song / composition 13min (sort) with 11 main singers also Floor and Simone ! After that Check Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe) LIVE also with Floor ! I'm very, very, very sure you will like and love it ! And there much form Ayreon. It's Prog/ metal / rock of the highest level. all songs are a story line. So when you dive in not the order of the song ! If you want to see and hear the composer / creator, Arjen Anthony Lucassen then check the song: Ayreon - Garden of Emotions (Electric Castle Live And Other Tales) LIVE ! The first singer is Arjen ! If you want to see Marko (from Nightwish) Check Ayreon River of time (Universe). You Will LOVE it and want to see more and more......and more ! THIS NEW FOR YOU !!!
nightwish is amazing, first came tarja turunen who create nightwish style. then come anette olzen who singing still nightwish best song meadows of heaven. then come floor jansen who bring nightwish to super state status. i really hope, before nightwish end, we can see these 3 ladys and marko also, same stage and orchestra of course. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful christmas.
If you like the call and answer between Floor and Marco, try Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018 (if you havent yet). You also get to see Jukkas friend and successor as drummer, pkaying some pretty incredible drumming. (c.f. Weak Fantasy at Tampere 2015) Also, BA 2018 is an even better show IMO
This song is Like a Coffee with Red Bull .... On Steroids 🤘❤🔥🤘. The “scream” at the end is called a glissando, going from low to high and back, for classically trained singers this is an exercise to warm up the vocal cords, so Floor will do this probably every day before breakfast . NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
If you want to see the best days of Nightwish, and the best performances you have to see 2005's End of an Era with Tarja, especially "Slaying The Dreamer" and "Ghost Love Score"... you will be feel the metal
Stacey you may or may not have noticed most nightwish songs have at min one time change within their songs. I cant wait til you do Devil and Deep Dark Ocean and Weak Fantasy amongst many others. love your reactions
When you watch these recordings of Nightwish's Wacken 2013, you think that if time travel is ever possible, how many time travelers are there in the audience.
For more Marco and Floor duet madness, it would be rewarding to check out "The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean", by NIGHTWISH Live in Buenos Aires 2018. That song is one long, intense dialogue between the two leads. AND it is one of their early songs resurrected, so you are discovering the band's roots as you go!
Epica - Sancta Terra with Floor Jansen, other great symphonic metal band with a great frontwoman Simone but this time with Floor in duet. These ladies are best friends, they lived and studied together you can see their chemistry on the stage. Try this one Stacey, you won't be disappointed 😊
The drummer is the hardest working member of any and every band. Ours used to take his T-shirt off at the end of the night & wring it out like wet laundry.
Funny how people can say the same things I was thinking a couple of years ago. After watching a gazillion vocal coaches reactions, some even shoving camera's in throats to watch the vocal cords, I kind of picked up some stuff. When singing there is a pitch (frequency) produced by the vocal cord, then the shape of the mouth and tongue distorts the sound to give it (color) and then you have the effects like rasp, grid and growl. I think you were looking for the words "high pitch" but with "a dark color". The brain automatically connects dark tone (or rasp for that matter) to low pitch, but with good singers those can be disconnected entirely. Marko in the end of The Phantom was in fact singing extremely high...but with rasp. Hard to interpret for the brain, because it is a bit unnatural to pull it off. But now you know as well.
Hola.

Seeing Nightwish Live is impossible in the near future. The new album will be released next Year and there will be no tour. Until further notice, we will no longer see them. But Floor will probably no longer just limit her solo program to Europe, Marko has already appeared in South America:
Marko Hietala - Dead God's Son (Official Lyric Video)
Great reaction Stacey! You're catching on to this whole Nightwish thing beautifully. I finally found them in June of this year, and my life hasn't been the same - for the best of course 😊 Addicted? Oh yes 😊
More Marko? Marko and Floor together? Please please check out Ghost River from this same concert, and you must watch Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from 2018 Buenos Aires. So awesome, so fun!
Peace and love to all from Wisconsin! ✌️❤️🤘
If you want to love hearing Marko sing even more…check out While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley…you will be very pleasantly surprised! ☮️
I was waiting for this one. So glad you enjoyed it, was great to watch. Probably my favorite song from them. Great reaction.
Floor's vibrato is what gets me. In the prelude, you'll notice each of her notes has a tiny bit of vibrato in them. Her vocal control is outstanding!
Yes, not too much vibrato, like some others...
great reaction, I will be waiting for more :) I love watching when people discovered Nightwish
Stacey you are correct about the Drummer. There is no harder working member than the person behind the Drum kit.🥁☮☘
their live performances are mind-blowing. They bring so much energy on stage 😍
Great reaction tx, you also have to see and react to floor singing the phantom of the opera with henk poort in a program called "Beste zangers 2019"
best duet ever :) greetings from Holland
Floor's husband is the drummer for Sabaton, a Swedish metal band that does songs that tell stories from world war 1, 2 and other times. Check them out when you have the chance. Best thing about them is that each song mainly sticks to telling the unit's / soldier's story, not the politics behind it.
This is without a doubt my favourite NW performance, it’s stand up and smash the cymbals great 😎🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your comments. The Valkyrie Goddess is a Dramatic Colorartura Soprano and she has a range of 5 or 6 octaves. The Wikipedia has not been updated.
Hail the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy and her Brothers 😇 🙌 ❤
Jukka aka Pirate is the 🥁 drummer
Dude, stop, almost noone has 5-6 octaves on this earth...
@@tamasloki6456 agreed. Although I don’t particularly like Mariah Carey she has the widest known range of 5 octaves. Even Lisa Gerard, with her amazing low range only has about 3.7.
@tamasloki6456 Ask, the Charismatic Voice or the Big Brain operate singers
Almost no one. Dimash has a 7.7 octave range now. @@tamasloki6456
With this song I am awakened in the morning.
And I have energy for the whole day.
Rock and Metal Forever !!!
Stacey, your reactions are the most the beautiful ones.
Thank you ❤🤓🎸📢🎶
She is a force and presence on the stage. First time I ever heard this band was "Last Ride of the Day" and I just fell in love with her.
if you want to get a better idea of Floor's range in a single song, then react to "Disdain" from her previous band, ReVamp. This was her band, she was the management and the driving force behind the music. So what you're hearing is what she wrote for herself, rather than singing someone else's music. ua-cam.com/video/iNSf64M9uA0/v-deo.html This was her "angry Floor" stage.
Dark Chest of Wonders! Best show opener you will ever see!
I play guitar and have played in very small places, but I think everyone can kinda see what it must feel like to play in front of so many people and with floor being newly into the band and you know if you played a great concert. if everything goes so smotth it must be magical to interact and see the reaction of the audience.
nice reaction, greatings from the netherlands.
Great reaction, Stacey! I agree...this is a fantastic song and one of their best IMO. The Islander is a good song to hear more of Marko.
the entire show is on DVD, and UA-cam, titled "Showtime, Storytime"....also, for other shows; "End of an Era", the last show with original singer Tarja Turinen, a double DVD set "Vehicle of Spirit", 2015 shows from Wembley Arena in London, and Tampere, Finland, finally "Decades" from Buenos Aires, in 2018.....plus, with you being a former athlete, check out her biceps and delts.....
Glad to accompany you down the rabbit hole!
7 days to the wolves at Wembley is good with Marco singing as well
I will recommend two Nightwish songs that you will like .
1 - Lips are Still Red . Live at Wembley 2015
2 - The Greatest Show on Earth . Live at Wembley 2015
I agree, it was incredible, from beginning to Finnish. 😏
Lock at to " high Hopes" 2005, Marko at leed vocals 😊
WHOA
Youlike Marko .....try the islander
Yessss indeed:
"The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 🇫🇮
Another example of his vocal skills is:
"High Hopes" (End of An Era Live 2005)
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙 🎶💯💥
Nightwish - High Hopes
Marco sings alone.
Another amazing reaction! (Wish i had an angel) from this same concert is a good choice for your next reaction 🙂
If you think this crowd is high energy, just wait til you get to the Buenos Aires gig.
The notes you sang, actually sounded pretty good 👍
Floor Jansen, when she sings she expresses her emotions and at the same time moves our emotions, for that reason she is the Goddess and the best.
Also, Floor and Marko are some of the best singers in metal. Unfortunately, Nightwish doesn't do this song anymore since Marko left because no one else can equal his voice.
I don't believe they did that song after that tour, even though Marko stayed in the band for several more years.
She is great…the best…that is always debatable
For Marco singing in the spotlight, you should react to "The Islander" from The Tampere 2015 show (and for his softer side, "While Your Lips are Still Red" from Wembley 2015). A great example of Floor and Marco harmonizing, check out "7 Days To The Wolves" from Wembley 2015, and the best example of Floor growing is "Yours Is An Empty Hope," also from Wembley 2015
Dark Chest of Wonders , this show starter , is my favorite. Seen them live twice here in Finland.
I concur :-)
nightwish is amazing, first came tarja turunen who create nightwish style. then come anette olzen who singing still nightwish best song meadows of heaven. then come floor jansen who bring nightwish to super state status. i really hope, before nightwish end, we can see these 3 ladys and marko also, same stage and orchestra of course. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful christmas.
Nice reaction. Greetings from Mexico City 🇲🇽
Floor CAN do anything ❤ she has done a TON of covers that includes Frozen....
If you like the call and answer between Floor and Marco, try Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018 (if you havent yet). You also get to see Jukkas friend and successor as drummer, pkaying some pretty incredible drumming.
(c.f. Weak Fantasy at Tampere 2015)
Also, BA 2018 is an even better show IMO
I 100% concur
This song is Like a Coffee with Red Bull .... On Steroids 🤘❤🔥🤘.
The “scream” at the end is called a glissando, going from low to high and back, for classically trained singers this is an exercise to warm up the vocal cords, so Floor will do this probably every day before breakfast .
NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
Stacey, as I said before, you are already in Nightwish army, dosen't matter if you you wannted to. You are all in to it !!! :)
More please! Cheers. I want my tears back-Somewhere in Argentina…
Hola.
Haha, your cat came to chill just as guitar solo began, on the low right corner of your video 😆
New follower here! you have seen nothing yet, there is so much songs to see that I cannot wait to watch you discover so many other songs, Greeting from Montreal
Thanks
100% agree with you that the drummer is the backbone of the band
