- We eliminate excessive oil combustion in 1.8 and 2.0 TSI and TFSI engines from Volkswagen Audi Seat Skoda cars. The film presents the entire process of repairing such an engine. We provide 24 months warranty. We pick up cars from anywhere in Europe and return them after repair. We provide replacement cars for all repairs.
Excellent work. My car is a 2016, so it came with the new piston design. But if I had an older car, I'd bring it to you guys for sure.
All I see is dollar signs. Crazy how a manufacturer defect is a cost upon the consumer.
And crazy how consumers are paying higher "carbon " taxes, yet manufacturers are allowed to create unreliable engines, that cause more plastic pollution and more scrap and garbage. There should be new laws that guarantee the manufacturers are not making unreliable engines.
@@sranjesuper welkom to the netherlands :D
Are you telling me I need an engine overhaul 100k km in? And that I should pay a few grand to fit it?
I'm happy driving my 15yo mercedes with 320k km, running perfectly.
Just sold my 13 yr old BMW 530D (240K km) as it's too small for the kids in the back and get a 1 year old Skoda superb with this engine. I hope it will also last 10 years! I hear you about Mercedes, I was in a taxi that was near it's 2nd engine overhaul but at 750,000KM the only problem it had was some noise from the wheel bearings that the owner knew could be changed quite cheaply. Merc's are SOLID cars. New (ish) skoda has near E-class legroom but I cross my fingers on VAG group...
I have a 2.0tfsi engine with 130,000 miles no oil consumption but i have changed the oil early since the beginning only using high quality oil. 2nd audi ive owned and never follow audi’s service interval. Always early oil changes and often. It helps a lot for these issues.
3 minutes in. Conclusion: Just buy another car.
no just buy another engine with the right piston rings
To their credit that motor is a rocket. It’s just a total pile of shit.
I wouldn’t mind one of these engines refurbed by these guys. I still wonder, why not just have an oil pan gasket instead of the good shit?
Use engine flush products with each oil hange it should do the trick.
Or better still don't buy a VAG product👏
These engines are not worth 25,000 Euros/30,000 USD!! Thats what a GTI will cost
it´s hard enough when there is a company called VAG Expert, to repair stock VAG engines.
Yes,i had one TSI. never again.
I love the honesty.
My brother has a 1.2 polo tsi, it has traveled 240 000 kilometers in 4 years. It has been very reliable and still is reliable. He has however noticed that 1st gear is not as powerful as before, other than that she still pulls hard.
you can use Bardhal additiv for benzine engine , maybe one injecter got to be lubrificated
honestly i don't think you could do a better job absolutely amazing work
That's insane the amount of work needed to repair oil burning.
The issue is actually really really small for the amount of work, it's the piston rings. Unfortunately, you need to take the engine apart to replace them so it's just better to overhaul it as you're already in there. VW upgraded the pistons and the rings after 2014.
I had 275,000 miles on my 1.8T. Great car and engine. Sold to my brother for his kids and then they sold. Never used oil between 5-7,000 mile oil changes.
That was a good engine. The tsi and the tfsi engine got the oilproblems and timingchain problems
@@Kwezeltje Yes, the 2008 - 2012 2.0 are susceptible. Piston rings wore prematurely.
I had 3 cars with tsi engines. I never had an oil consumption. Well, it wasn't 0, but maximum 0,5 liter between services (every 30000). And I have to mention that i'm making over 80000 km per year. My strong advice to all TSI users is to always keep the engine revs above 2000 rpm. It is very important! Those engines hate low rpms.
Drive them hard. It's not for GRAND M/P Sunday driving
Because secon gen of engine had burning oil problem. First and third did't.
Thats why they use rings from first or third gen to fix the burning oil.
Congratulations ! You've just spent 10k on a 8k car !

Any mechanic can do this
But at what costs?
@@dragospahontu if has knowledge , tools and is honest , but this is very rare
How I wish we had such service from some of our vw/ Audi dealers or specialists in my country 🇿🇦. An engine overhaul is very expensive in south Africa. I own a 2012 Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI with 133000 km, so far I haven't had huge oil consumption issues.
My 1.8 tfsi 2009 has been flawless with no problems at all, But suddenly at 150.000 km my timing chain collapsed. My oil consumption has also gone up. It consumes oil like I drink water.
VAG-Expect in Menlyn(On top of Glasfit), Pretoria will help.
Dealer, won't help, even if you have a warranty. You'd first have to pay a fee for an oil consumption test, then they still end up taking your car to a 2rd party workshop like these featured in this video
I'm also struggling here with my Audi , I'm basically used 4 litres oil over 1500km (ok, driving hard though) but it's more embarrassing than anything else, Clean Audi that smokes uphill
You actually better off taking your Audi to one these approved 2rd party workshops that can service or overhaul your motor and still charge on the warranty, excess of R80K
which the warranty might not completely cover
Good job , the only problem customer has to spent money but factory is responsible
Perfect add, perfect work.. what can I more say. Best Polish Volkswagen-Group experts!
poslish are doing better job than the german. 😂😂😂
Worked at VW Chattanooga manufacturing plant, bought a brand new ‘15 model Passat, and it started burning oil profusely at 80k miles. I was told that was normal, just keep an eye on it and change the oil regularly, topping it off between changes. The engine made it to 148k and blew up right before this past Christmas, lost all compression on the #3 hole. Lean condition caused by excessive oil consumption caused a hole to burn through an exhaust valve in that cylinder. Pulled the head and all the cylinder walls are trashed, the coolant that filled one of the cylinder bores leaked right past the rings and into the oil pan before it could even be sucked out with a shop vac. Sucks that we paid this thing off and was going to hand it down to our son for his first car but now it’s just a junk pile. No one wants to work in it, no one here in the US seems to rebuild these engines. All I’ve been told is to replace it with a new or used unit. Can’t see spending more than the car is worth to do that. When I look on FB marketplace all I see are blown up Passats for parts, don’t seem like you can hardly give them away. What a shame, $25k down the toilet. Should have bought another Chevy. We just replaced this car with a new Mazda today, hopefully have better luck with it.
this will cost more than the car itself.
Very expensive ... !
Agree! They are powerful engine but not reliable.
@@3kkk514
The 3rd Gen engines are very reliable, even before the piston/ring update. They don't break down, they just consume oil.

My wifes car had this same issue in a 2013 Audi A4. We were told the solution from Audi is to change the entire long block, fine by me I didn't have to pay.
We need businesses like your's in México and USA specially in Arizona.
as a owner of a 1.8tsi leon II i agree with most of the video. TBH the engine is awesome when it works fine. The oil consumption issue can be mitigated with frequent oil changes with good quality oil. I really think that VW overestimates the service intervals. 15k km is just way too much, and sometimes they recommend even 25k km. On my car the previous owner changed the oil every 10k with very good quality oil, and the first thing i did when i bought it was a oil change with a good engine flush. At 90k the car uses about 1l of oil every 4k km.
1liter per 4 km is bad ,engine is kaput !
Owners of Audi 80/100 ..4 or 5 cylinders..8v 10v 16v 20v NEVER had this issues👏👏👏..so much for new tech🥳
Yes, the engine from 80,s and 90,s was better!
Does anyone feel it might be better to take "A MATCH" to the engine if it needed all this overhaul? 🤣 Anyways, a very informative video! Thank you Vag-Expert.
you guys need to have an office in Nigeria. the market will go crazy for such expertise.
The reason I will never buy another Audi or indeed any VAG product, new or used. And I was a real fan.
Me too! I had an Audi s2 91, it was ok but it had small problems, brakes, oil and water! Now i have an Stinger and big smile in my face! :)
8 minute of the film tells you everything " 3rd generation of this pistons are good", but you have to byy them from VW, so i think VW group should change these pistons as service action, they produce shit quality engines and now they ask customers to pay for it...thank you very much VW group
buy the cars give them your money then fork out more fix it yourself all because flaw in their design..utter nonsense and they get away with it
True
I think in US they fixed them under warranty and even after under class action lawsuit but in EU VW makes the laws....
Solve the problem by buying Honda or Toyota ( Acura or Lexus ).

Wow, very detailed. I imagine that this rebuild cost almost as much as a new engine?
If only. More like half the original sticker for the vehicle
Probably more
That's a lie that TSI/TFSI engines consume oil because of pistons construstion.
They start eating oil because of too long changing oil intervals. Almost every engine will start oil consuming if you change oil just every 15 000 km.
Oil control rings and drainage of pistons just get coked. And usually professional decarbonization is enough to fix oil consuming.
Change motor oil in time (depends on your use conditions: warm/cold, traffic jam or highway and many another factors) (usually 5000 - 8000 km) and engine will work many hundreats km with no oil comsuming.
I checked it on some hundreats VAG engines with endoscope, client's feedback and laboratory and express spectral analyzes of used oil.
If the piston rings don’t get you the timing chain tensioner will
Earlier engines also have issues. We were not the only ones who had a 1.4 with pistons slapping around by 100k miles. It was properly serviced by VW according to schedule before anyone shouts that old excuse.
I have VW Tiguan 2008 tdi 140hp more than 8 years, Zero problems, only normal services.
Also have a VW CC 2015 tdi 177hp, monster car (for that level), more then 3 years, Big Zero problems..
For both I change oil, filters (Engine oil Liqui Moly, Bosch filters ) & Additive Liqui Moly (DPF cleaner, Desisel additive, etc..) each 6 months by myself.
THERE IS NO PERFECT CAR..
Just take care for her, and she will serve more..
Enjoy your car 😊
TDI is not the same as TSI or TFSI
Go to the netherlands (google for it...) and maintain the engine in case of oil consumption. Costs of about 3 K€. Now after 40.000 km I can assume no oil consumption any longer and engine runs perfectly. The question is what of these services in the video above are necessary and which of them are nice to have. Finally in my case I spent 3 k€ instead of 7 K€ estimated by Skoda and I have to admit the guys in the netherlands are experts. They do only this kind of work every day.

And they say Alfa is the one that is always at mechanic. VW, Audi, BMW owners always hide their repairs, and they always say it was never broken, yeah, definitly!
Car that never brakes is W123 Mercedes, I own one for 13 years restored it never broke and never left me on a road.
45 years old and does not burn oil.
100K and then this overhaul. I think it is a legalized crime by VAG. Designing a technical product to fail at 25% of its economical and technical lifespan should be criminal.
The only car vag was great for us with a 1.9 TDI engine. Especially those made between 1999-2004. After that was a massive downgrade regarding reliability. Such a shame.
Excellent work!
I'm my last year working for Audi I must have done over 100 of these jobs.....well pistons and rings replacement jobs.......got really good at it too ...took me 9hrs from the time I pulled the car into the bay to the time I drove it out ....each job paid 26hrs flat rate....made a ton of money but I got burnt out eventually...engine out and on the stand in 2hrs. B8 A4, A5 and Q5...did a Q7 3.0T too, that was fun as well... not
So they charged the customer 26 hours for 9 hours work?
oil consumption issue is not on audi a4 from 2013 and higher. Issue was fixed in 2012

Replacing the battery at the same mileage
My Audi engine was rebuilt by an Audi dealer at 92 000 km free of charge, it’s now 173 0000 km I suspect it is maybe beginning to burn oil again?
Makes one wonder why it took them 5ys to correct the issue. 2009-2014. I actually did a total rebuild on a 2009 2.0
Audi A4 and mow has 30k miles and no oil leak or burn issue. The number one problem is the oils change interval should never be more than 3k. The carbon in the oil does a lot of damage. They won’t admit to this but this is a key factor.

Mine, a5 b8.5 year 2015, so far no problem, no engine oil consumption
Brilliant I'll just do this quick fix in my drive.... Looks as easy as changing a wheel.... What could go wrong
My father in law is about to figure this out for himself...poor guy. First he thought it was the plugs, then He thought it was an injector and now he knows that cylinder one is toast with almost zero compression. He thinks it might just need new rings but I don't think that is going to do it. Only a little over 125,000 km and I think the engine is toast.
So, 100,000 km and you throw the car away. Nice one VW, way to save the world.
I'm trying to think of a scenario where this would make any financial sense. Got nothin'...
Start a VW engine overhaul company. Thats a lot of financial sense.
The only way i see anyone doing this is if someone has one of the more higher performance engines. They love their 300 hp 2.0l turbo so much they want it to keep going i guess? For any other one, it's probably cheaper to just buy a second hand one with lower milage.
@@willemkanon4020 ok, so let me give you an example: you have that engine issue in your Skoda/Seat/VW/ Audi and you have to do something about it. For around 2900 euro you get your engine completely refurbished + timing chain, spark plugs, engine oil and filters replaced. Basically you are getting a new engine without it's manufacturer's fault + 24 month warranty with no mileage limit for the fraction of the price of a new engine. And a peace of mind. Or, as you would prefer, you go to eBay etc. and buy a used engine (for half of the above amount), with lower mileage you have no idea what state it is in, with no warranty or if you get lucky, maybe a couple months or so with all the problems it may cause in future (and you know it will, you just don't know when), pay the mechanics to replace it and wait for that day when all the shit goes down.
I think I know what option I would go with. And it makes perfect financial sense.
@@michalbrenda7879 it's only 3k to let all that stuff done in the video?
@@willemkanon4020 Agreed no way is that much work only 3k i would guess and it is a guess at 6-8k , so example a 2012 Golf Gti + say 6k will get you a 2015 Golf Gti. No brainer

Beautiful Movie!!
Bruh, all these procedures… wouldn’t it be cheaper to get rid of the car and buy a another one! I appreciate this work tho, I can imagine how smooth it runs after this!
Surprised no one has mentioned the plastic brittle pipes, pcv issues, plastic parts and cheapy build quality in parts of the engine which end up leading to these issues, oh the 4.0TT turbo issues ranging all the way back, door lock issues, the list goes on...and even with fixing some oil consumption, they still use a lot of oil for my liking, the amount of carbon you get when cleaning is a stupid amount...
All so true! But the power and operation is nice just like BMW motors only more economical
I’m doing engine rebuild now on a 2014 tiguan 2.0 tsi, misfire cylinder 3 and a L of oil every 1300km if driven max 120kmh, if I drive more than 120kmh it burned 1L every 200-300km

Repair is always cheaper than replace. The problem in our societies is that waste has become so huge, people can always benefit from what others have discarded. If people held on their cars for life, and fixed everything until no longer possible (this is, there wasn't a constant surplus of used cars because people get bored and just decide to buy another) people would never complain of the expense of a service like this.
I live in a place with high labor rates. $100 usd/hr is a common rate for your average garage. A specialist like this could easlly charge $120-200usd/hr. For me to repair my dad's 2011 2.0t q5 would cost more than selling it and then buying a Q5 with 3.0 supercharged engine or a X3 35i with n55 both of which are more reliable than the 2.0t. Not to mention produce 100 more horsepower. We have owned this q5 for 12 years and I have many memories of it. I learned to drive in this car and I took my license test in it as well. I would love to fix it but it's just does not make financial sense.
