    What's the difference between target and potential reach?

    • @IsaacJohnston
      @IsaacJohnston  3 роки тому +1

      Target is reach you can reasonably assume will happen, potential is if everything works beyond expectations or the client buys all the distribution options you can provide. Hope that makes sense!

    So ultimately, any company or brand wants to know how this will make them money, or what the ROI will be. How does this show that? Or what else would this accomplish for the brand other than having “cool photos” if they were to move forward? I get this is what you do, but a good amount of your success pitching to clients has to be the large number of people you reach, which is a following most don’t have.

    • @IsaacJohnston
      @IsaacJohnston  4 роки тому +2

      Good questions man! It does show the brand that they will have good photos, video or anything else a freelancer can offer. It’s also does that in a more professional way than just a DM or an email. Assuming that a brand wants ROI is true but misses what they really want if they buy your marketing material. In my experience they want to know they can trust you to create what you say you can create. I found that professional pitch deck is helpful to build that trust. A brand can’t directly sell your images of there product for a profit, so there isn’t a direct ROI calculation they can do. They take a chance on someone they think might elevate the look of their brand. When you take the time to show them what you want to create, it helps make it easier for them to choose you. If I just want to do promotion work through my Instagram, then yes, all I need to show is my distribution. I want to create bigger projects that are multi faceted, so instead of just showing them my numbers I show them my full range of capabilities as ideas. I hope that answers your questions!

      Isaac Johnston that definitely makes sense and answers what I was wondering. Thanks for the response!

    Thanks for much for making this video! As a Latina and daughter of an immigrant, I want to see more women in the outdoor industry behind the camera! This was very helpful. Also, what do you suggest putting in the deliverables for someone that doesn’t have social media? I permanently deleted my instagrams 2 months ago and have no intention of going back. Any ideas?

    • @IsaacJohnston
      @IsaacJohnston  3 роки тому

      Hey Isabella! Thanks for your comment. You can put whatever you make that you think the client needs in the deliverables. If you don't have a social media presence that's ok. I know many professional photographers that don't sell social media promotion.
      Your services could be high quality professional images with usage for social, web and print. Or you could list a 1 minute product film. Or a 300 word essay with 5 images to be featured on the clients blog or other outlets.
      It really is about finding what the client needs. Most clients need content, product shots, promotion or some other form of creative. The best way to know is to have a phone call before you build your pitch and ask what they are looking for. If you can make it and they need it you have a match. I hope that helps!

    Hi I'm looking for someone to do a pitch deck for a romantic comic drama? could you recommend anybody

    I'm purchasing this regardless because I just recently learned of this vs just DM'ing brands and resorts and such but like...the real question is once you've created your pitch deck and cater it to your audience...who do you send it to? you must have some kind of contact beforehand right? or just email them through the whatever public email they provide and pray it gets to the right place?

    • @IsaacJohnston
      @IsaacJohnston  3 роки тому +4

      Thanks or your question, I think it’s a important one to answer.
      The pitch deck is not designed to be your first point of contact. I used to try to send it “cold” to brands and it was just too much commitment for people to open and look at what I was proposing.
      Here’s what I recommend instead. Reach out with social media (ig, FB, tik tok, LinkedIn it doesn’t matter what your platform of choice is) with a message saying hello, what you do (photos, video, writing) and ask who you could talk to about potentially working together. It’s important that your social media shows what you are capable of. You need to have been doing the work and showing it for brands to trust that if they pay you, you can actually make what you promise. I get a reply with an email about 75% of the time. Then I email them with a short intro, ask if there is a time to set up a call and ask if I can send over a proposal for a project I have in mind. Once the call is and pitch deck is shared you will need to follow up until you get a signed contract or a hard no.
      It’s a lot of work but if you want to get paid to do what other people pay to do it takes work. I hope that helps!

      @@IsaacJohnston yes this is exactly what i was wondering the WHEN to send the pitch deck, so you gotta get in contact first then if they reply follow up with a phone call and or then send your pitch! Perfect thank you so much
