    OMG....that was as beautiful as I had imagined! Such a treat to see that vehicle. And, that had to be one of the best roundabouts experiences EVER! You're so fortunate to have been allowed to take it for a spin....lucky, lucky man!

    I love the old Silver Shadow.
    Mostly because new Rolls-Royces are like " HEY, I'M A FUCKING MILLIONAIRE", while the Silver Shadow is like "Yeah, I make half a million a year. Nothing special.".

    Hello from SRH 5463 1969 too. Mine is really silver shadow because "he" is really silver. Now this flying lady is in good hands after two years of many maintenances and reparations - mainly caused by lack of proper care by so many years. Soon I will complete whole hydraulic system and than we can again drive across the streets. Greeting from Poland to all and real old RR funs - I know that brand is still existing but RR is no longer produced - now it is only a BMW with BMW engines but still with flying lady on its bonnet. Unfortunately history of this car was ended when BMW bought them and Crewie team was released. Car is not a brand - car is a tradition and soul.

    I always loved these old Rolls, they are simply the most fun one can have with their clothes on... Haha
    I was lucky enough to procure a flawless 67' T1 in my favorite colour scheme. Taking it for a spin, as in your case as well, brings a bit of levity to life.
    Make note of the Gen indicator light though. Mine did that occasionally as well, it was a simple charge indicator relay fault and nothing wrong with the state of charge.

      @@MrDanSouth Ah those were the days in '60's Britain. The 6.2 and 6.75 RR V8's were absolute torque monsters. Too bad a Rolls today is just a reskinned BMW 7 series, what a pity. At least the Silver Shadow/Spirit and Spur were the "real deal". I'd rather have one of these over any new one today.

    Loved the video! Great Chippendale dash! This very early 69‘ Shadow was one of the the last made with this dash!
    Due to US safety standards which kicked in in early 1969, a lot of the wood on the dash was eliminated for padding material. So sad! I own the 3rd production Shadow ever made (1965). Absolutely love the early dash
    And the moveable vent windows in the front doors!

    Can somebody give me an indication of what the maintenance costs of this car are, estimated per year?

    • @MrDanSouth
      @MrDanSouth  6 років тому

      Apart from the substantial fuel bill, the actual regular maintenance of fluids, engine consumables, tyres and brake pads are all cheap to purchase and it is a simple car by modern standards.
      Your problem £££ would arise if the car needed a gearbox, or the hydraulic suspension units replacing.
      Still a fantastic car, though. Thanks for watching.

    • @p-g-7050

      How many times did you have to do big maintenance like the gearbox etc?

    • @MrDanSouth
      @MrDanSouth  6 років тому +1

      I didn't. Just something to be mindful of, it may be 'cheap' as a classic to run with specialists and servicing, but if something bad happens, it is a very expensive car to repair.

    My dream-car is not a Rolls! It is my Citroen DS 23 IE Pallas -74! And I do not have any problems with the hydraulic system on this car. It´s very reliable. And it does not cost "a fortune" to maintain or repair.The DS also has servo-steering (of course), and full-power brakes (just opens a valve when you lightly press the "mushroom" on the floor). Two circuit system, with load sensistive rear brakes, and much more.
    It also has constan ride hight, of course, and the best ride comfort of any car, the Rolls included!And a lot of other advanced and novel features that the Rolls lacks! (Not to mention the front-wheel drive!)
    And all this introduced by Citroen already in 1955!

And reassemble the regulator and remove the window brake reassemble it's now possable to push the window up and down manually nut because they get s.owe4 with age they stay rolled up.i had 2 shadows and removed all the window brakes.all the mods that have to be done to old Rolls Royce cars.
