- The Captain heads across the ditch to catch up with the Surtees Boats crew in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty. We meet the legendary Neil “Surts” Surtees and check out some of his crafty creations.

I got the 750 game fisher and while I do apologise to bar crusher for making great boats , direct copy of the surtees I would rather support the kiwis being an Aussie because I don’t like crooks .
However the 750 game fisher is built tougher , thicker bottom and are better looking then a barcrusher .
Surtees 10 year Hull warranty barcrusher 5 years speaks for itself !!
Great boats I am testimony to one one of these beasts best alloy trailer boats on the market hands down or up there with the best bravo 👏 great build mate ..

Love my 5.5 work mate, second-hand Surtees are like hens teeth in Australia because of the quality, lots around but not for sale. Great story and tribute to a great boat builder and gentleman. As for barcrusher, shit form guys, probably bowl underarm too. No surprises who gave a thumbs down to the vid.
Even before watching this I would have chosen a Surtees over a Bar Crusher because the build quality of the Surtees is just awesome 🤙
I like Neil, seems like his boats reflect his personality. Tough, reliable, no nonsense, practical, and just clean and honest.
Will never own a Barcrusher because of this and the man himself was even to gentleman to name and shame. Would so love to own one of these gems though!!
Would be good to hear Barcrusher's response to this claim...

Bar crushers and his boats do look very similar makes sense now!
have a Surtees Gamefisher 700, its awesome, looked at the Barcrusher but they were too arrogant at the boat show.

I remember when I saw these boats back in Nz back in the 90's I was hooked but didn't get a chance to have one...then I moved to Australia 20 somthing years ago...brought a haines hunter and had her the whole time I been here...then 2 weeks ago this 2013 5.5 Workmate pops up on boatsales....now I own a surtees on the central coast of Nsw....Chur my bro...keep building your mean boats...those aussie boys enjoying your porridge 🤣

Mate you may want to check out Moda boats, SeaAdex and Riptide to name just a few. Plenty of good custom Aussie boats but yes I do like the Surtees as well. Good boats.
Im a kiwi living in perth i wanted a kiwi boat but found a genesis craft an never looked back.. some serious boat builders over here razerline, genesis coraline are a few...

@@kiwioutdoors3427 nah its allgood mate i was the same and i still think the same i frofth it when i see a mean as senator or white pointer over here but pretty happy with my boat. I do think kiwis know how to build an epic boat tho but the aussies are catching up some serious rigs over here in w.a for long remote trips to the islands in the north west 👌👌

They are Cairns Custom Craft copies from the 90's, built and designed in Cairns Australia great boats, not an original NZ hull design. It up there with the great Pavlova debate. Kiwi Aussie all the same in my eyes, as long as we keep making world class boats, and having a light harded dig at each other.
For the uniformed, could somebody tell me who the Aussie company who ripped him off is?
Barcrusher
Surteez seems like they still have a small home business approach. If been through Barcushers factory..they use robots to have 1 continuous weld from bow to stern. No human error . Sad to say this... but move with the times or be pushed aside.
welding robots are great, until they aren't. Meaning, they need to be programmed by a very good welder in the first place and the QC to make sure they don't go out of whack needs to be there, too. A good human welder can adjust on the go, catch errors before they creep up, robots can't, yet.
Plenty of robot welded bike frames have broken - probably because the factories thought robots meant you didn't need good human welders and tough QC anylonger. So, it all depends how Barcrusher does that part. Point being, a robot welder doesn't automatically equal better quality.
This is why you couldn't pay me to buy a Barcrusher. That aside, the Surtees is a far better boat. Shame on you Clelands
