    Lions supporter here, I think Nathan Buckley is the best analyst in the media at the moment, makes a nice change to some of the tripe you hear, love Bucks insights.

      Being a former player and a former coach, both at the highest level does put him miles ahead of the majority of journalists and analysts

      I do think he has some good football knowledge. Though he had Collingwood outside the eight at the start of last year. So I would take his predictions with a grain of salt….

      As a West Australian I'd rather listen to sen sport Melbourne because of the lack of West Coast talk, Eagles is all anyone in the media talks about over here, gets a bit boring

    Great coverage - I have a question - should this be about coming back when you have shown that you have dealt with the issue and proved that you have things in place for this not to re-occur? I mean you can sit out 18 games and not have learned or changed.

    Buckley’s great to listen to. Only thing I can’t go with on are his comments about Demetriou.

    The biggest change was around 2015 when teams started using a 25m kick across the body to get a player to open up the field ahead of them and beat the squeeze

    Over the years Geelong has been the masters of changing game styles. in 2005/6 there was a defensive flood, until Geelong went all out attack and won in 2007. They beat the Collingwood/StKilda press in 2009 and 2011, and then in 2022 won again by changing their own style to be ultra attacking.

      St Kilda, particularly under Lyon oin 2009 are ultra boring to watch. But that does't matter if you can win.

    I think a player with a hardness deficiency, will benefit more from exposure to the game, than being limited from that exposure. Like Jack.

    Buckley is an outstanding analyst. But jeez Bucks can we use the term 'dressing sheds' rather than 'locker room'? Thank you.

      @@johndoe5061 Its an awful Americanism. Do we have 'rooms' at football clubs. Whats next - shoulder pads, helmets and tights? As Australians our language has a heritage and texture. 'Dressing shed' is a colourful colloquialism not an architectural term FFS.But I am writing this to a Collinwood supporter so you are probably more at home with crayons than writing champ.

      @@liamloveday3571 Champ dressing sheds was widely used as a descriptor of beach and football and cricket ground facilities. I am from Port Melbourne and I can assure you that was the term widely used by the locals. Did you play for Old Melbourne Grammarians? If you did I just wasted 30 seconds of valuable breathing time.

    I also admire Buckleys knowledge but I wish that all media commentators would stop bringing in America isms. Our game is synonymous to Australia, we are not playing American football with offense & defence. Our positions are backs, half backs centres half forwards and forwards. I'm sick of media commentators americanising our game. Maybe I'm to old at 73 to change, but it's a unique Australian game stop americanising it

      There's 18 teams in the league and I think all fans deserve their team to be up and about. It simply breaks my heart to think that freo has never won a premiership and I see kids often wearing their suns shirts and I just hope they can have a really good season so those kids can be proud and aspire to go out and play like their heroes

    I think Bucks can learn from Ross Lyon. Ross exposed himself to games of football as a commentator, and obviously benefited by the buildup of exposure to the game over a long period of time. Cos, Ross ended up going back to coaching.

      All about the AFL brand. The AFL is like all corporations they, are virtually amoral, unethical and brand driven. So, the AFL will act only according to what is in their best interests, which may not be the players, the clubs or the fans, it's whatever is best for the AFL brand. The times inform the AFL that an 18 match suspension is what will get them the constant approval they need to drive their brand. Tarryn got the 18 match suspension, everyone that matters to the AFL are happy with that, including our man, Gerard.

      @@johndoe5061 That chain was greased by some of the most biased and worst umpiring seen in a finals series. Poor little Toby had to buy a whole new wardrobe of shirts as his neck size was refashioned by the most blatant coat hanger since Charles I had his neck size altered.

    I'm not as enamored with Buck's style as so many appear to be. Too hyper analytical and verbose. He waffles at times when it is unnecessary. His press conferences were the same.

      Collingwood in 2022 were picked to finish bottom 4 by nearly everybody. To finish top 4 & miss out on a GF by 1pt proved 99% of afl pundits wrong.
