Nice sounding hi-tech euro engine. Sure, I love the rumble of a traditional sounding V8 (AMG road cars for example) but, it's nice to have a different sound among the Holdens and Fords in this race series
Honestly why are flat plane cranks not usable for a 10? Firing order? All I know is flat plane crank's rod attachment points are 180 degrees from each other and not 90-ish like most other cranks.
Because the crankpin configuration with an even firing 10 cylinder engine is determined by 720 degrees (4 strokes 2 crankshaft rotations) divided by the number of cylinders, which would be 72, a 72 degree offset on each crankpin. For a v8 it would be 90 degrees, but since 90 is a multiple of 180, 180 can also be used.
arguably the best sounding v8 supercar ever!
Sounds crazy, like a proper V8 but also with a proper howl too
God I miss this era.... Take me back to 2014!!
IKR, its so weird now
Best sounding V8 Supercar ever made. Would love to buy one of these things some day as a track day toy
But remove the wing
@@thatonenigeriansformulawhat a daft comment.
@@ozPanzer i just dont like the wing all that much
@@thatonenigeriansformula it's a race car haha. I'd put a bigger wing on it for faster lap times 😉
@@Matt_Rides race cars dont have to have wings
It is a flat plane crank, but in a 5L V8 :D
What a shame we won't hear these again!
Oh, why not?

There are no Mercedes cars in V8 Supercars anymore. Their sound was rather unique.
I got that bit but why aren't they racing anymore?.

I guess it was too expensive for the private team to develop and improve this car.
Oh, makes sense I spose. Unfortunate none the less, they sound amazing.

Those cars sound amazing love them. In v8s im a holden fan but I do like the new mercs and they do sound the best.
120deg 5L v8 n/a Sounds like a beast!
Amazing to think this is just a short-stroke flat-plane crank in a very slightly overbored (0.49mm) M156 block...
that's right sound for race car!!
That's what the future sounds like.
Sounds similar to the last W203 and first W204 DTM Mercedes 🤩
Best looking and Best sounding car out there :) Although im still a FORD man lol
Sounds like a Mazda 787b 4 rotor :)
More like the old jordan chassis F1’s
best supercar sound
yes, aarnots at eastern creek sydney
M8, great sounds... :-O
Shame they weren't competative
Sounds like a low revving f1 engine
134 judd is a monster
The series has gone backwards since they dropped these.
That is the best sound. They sound like they rev far more freely that the Holden and Ford engines. Gonna be very interesting in 2013.

Sounds like an old F5000 car.
Got it, thanks
F1 ran flat plane crank V10's for a long time before turbo engines were intorduced. lol.
Sleeved 6.3 I believe (down to 5L). N/A engine.
YES 100% and destroked
6.3 or 5.5 Bi-Turbo????
Sounds like a flat plane crank v10 more than a V8!
It's as un-Australian as a Japanese car being made in a America, but...
sounds today, not 1950s
lets just hope they sound like a formula 1 and not drive or have the speed of one
formula one???
this is un-australian
No just no
