@@LXT43 I sharpen my bel air as needed; it's not as difficult as you think. You don't need power tools; you just need a good abrasive. If you're trying to go at it with a traditional whetstone, you'll have a tough time because steels like this are where you should consider diamond-plated or resin-bonded diamond stones. Sharpal makes an amazing budget dual-grit (325/1200) diamond plated stone, and it'll sharpen magnacut at any HRC with no issue. Finish on a leather strop with some decent compound, and you'll have a great edge in no time. You can get everything (the stone, strop, and compound) for less than 100 dollars, and it'll last you years.
I didn't see the last comment before I read your comment. I was confused, thanks for the input. Would you skip straight from 300 to 1200 though ? I'm kind of weird about never going over double. I'd need a 600 in between those too. Currently I use a 120, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000...I usually don't go past that but I have stones up to 10k. They're not all the same brand. I have some shapton pro, glass ...those obviously aren't diamonds but then I have some venev and some ruby stones in the finer grits. Honestly , I good toothy edge usually does me best in most steels for my job. Thanks again 😎

63.5 on a black washed Magnacut blade is actually very good Better then I expected I’m sold, picking one of these sons of guns for my old man, he likes the smaller knives like this
Kershaw has upped their HRC game ! Noticed a few you tested. They must have heard about more folks having testers ! In spite of the negatives of yt, it looks like yt knife channels have pushed some makers to do better. Anyway that's my take on it.
Magnacut knives at 61 to 62 have been may favorites. My spyderco magnacut was awful. Best ive had was tactiles edc fixed blade. That tanto. Not sure what hardness that is but it is the shit. I actually hate most of these super high edge retention high hardness knives. I think balance is more my thing. Recently bought into the steel snob thing again and got that rex 121 sage 5. Absolutely hate that knife. Never again. Im fine with nitro v or well done d2
Further proof Kershaw is doing things in the right direction. Thanks you two!
@@MitchBollig you bet sir !
So glad to see Kershaw is getting the heat treat right. I'm going to have to pick one of these up!
That's pretty good, Kershaw has really stepped up their game.
Agreed
Wow 63.5 is not bad at all
@@StoneHands25 i ain't complaining
I could live with that 63.5 not to shabby
@@kellyweaver1389 I've never seen it done higher myself. It'd be interesting to see how it performs vs CRK 63
@apex_alchemy_knives that would definitely be a good comparison I'm kind of interested in seeing the results of that
can you sharpen it? Most people can't. A chip on that hard edge is pretty much unfixable without power tools.

appreciate the info , been eye ballin one of these ...... you going to review the knife sometime ?
@@anthonyrollins9825 we can do that. 😎
Ah, i fell for the clickbait title. I was thinking it wasn't going to be within spec, but i was pleasantly surprised. Love my bel air.
Someone told me to change the titles up to see if they got better views. I don't know what I'm doing...I like the straight forward approach myself.
Would other Kershaw Belairs bethe same or close? Do you have tests of Magnacut from other company knifes?
