This album is masterpiece. First time i heard it it das in 1973, I was 16 years old and i was impressed by the songs, the vocals and specially the twin guitars by ANDY POWELL and TED TURNER. The cover art is brilliant and, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful album cover. 50 years later, I still listen to this album as I was in 1973... it's magical for me..

I remember reading Storm Thorgerson's account of the cover art. Privately, he acknowledged that the much anticipated photo of the sentinel at the gorge of Verdon in France 🇫🇷 could just have easily been snapped in Blighty owing to the fog. An amazing album from one of my favourite rock groups. I was pleased to meet Andy Powel and Martin Turner when they played in Waterford Ireland in 1996. Martin was filling in on bass at the time for live shows. Great review as always Pete.

Still one of my most beloved albums, especially side two. It's nice, frankly, to hear Martin get some much deserved recognition on the channel by you. Yes, you had Andy as a quest a SoT fest, but there are still two versions of the band, just that Martin has to use ex, in the title. His bass sound and nimble playing are still a joy, and his remix is a reminder of how much a potent creative force he was- it wasn't all about twin guitar sound. And yes, this will feature on the best/favourite 70's prog albums- catch both versions of Wishbone Ash if you can

I will never ever get tired of listening to this absolute masterpiece. All tracks are brilliant. 'Sometime World' is just so completely awesome. Part 2 features just the most fantastic guitar solo I will ever here. And the album closer 'Throw Down The Sword' is THE best album closeout track I have ever heard. The very best example of their twin lead guitar sound you can find.

Thanks for reviewing this beautiful box-set of a wonderful album. It looks stunning. However, there's a discussion to be had here, perhaps in your Friday show with Martin, about the price of some of these high-end releases and who they're aimed at. I'd love a copy of this one but there's no way I can afford to shell out for it. I'll wait for a deluxe CD release - if there is one. It's still easy to pick up music at very comfortable prices, but there has been a trend for a while now towards big ticket concerts and lavish vinyl releases for those with deep pockets. Your thoughts Pete ?
