I was considering the Smart Plug also but just couldn't swallow paying that much money. I used this plug on our last trailer and now on this one we have now. Its made very well and you can feel the quality difference when you hook up your cord, the connections are nice and tight....not like the one that comes with many RVs from the factory. Thanks again for watching and commenting. www.youtube.com/@thetraveltrailerguy/videos
Another helpful and useful video Michael. I like that you can use your existing power cord with no modifications. The threads on the 30 amp outlet on our Lance are difficult to engage, so this is a mod that I will definitely make in the future. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome Henry, this one is built much better than the ones that come with most trailers. Hello Mike :) I The adaptor is nice to have, I use it to charge the batteries; to cool down the refrigerator before camping; to run the heater blower. The extension cord has never got warm at all, I don't use it to run the air conditioner or the microwave (but maybe it would be okay to do). We have used it at camp grounds when we don't need the air conditioner. Its a lot better than pulling out the big cord when running the generator too. 90-Degree Dogbone RV Adapter 15-Amp Male and 30-Amp Female with Twist Lock and LED Indicator - amzn.to/3Hoxd3u
@@thetraveltrailerguy I would use it at the house, RATHER than running my 30amp cord from the 110 in the garage to the camper's 30amp plug. The regular camper 30 amp cord. Makes more sense. I HAVE run the AC in the camper with the 110 to 30 amp at the camper at home, but nothing else without tripping a fuse. Oh, a few times at campgrounds, there were no 30 amp plugs, only 110. LOL I do have a converter plug. But you can't run much on 110 only in a camper. Thanks.
I have the upgraded marine plug in my camper… but I noticed that the LED light on the cover is not working. I think water got into it around its circuit board and shorted it out…the LED in the cover looks built in….any suggestions other than replacing the whole plug? Do they sell just the cover with red and black leads to the LED?
Hello Walter, thanks so watching and asking your question. I have had on a previous inlet plug the same thing happen and have heard of many others that have had the same problem with the light failing. And have not found on the internet a way to fix this problem, mine is still working and if it fails I guess I'm going to have to just live with it :( . You might try contacting the company and ask them what to do? If I find a solution I'll get back to you.
@@thetraveltrailerguy I’m afraid the solution is going to be to replace the whole assembly… but yes let us know otherwise if there is a replacement cap …when I do replace the unit, I will remove the two inside screws to get access the red and black wires entering the LED then apply some RTV to the red and black wire leads as they enter the plastic case to the LED to keep water from wicking into the LED, if yours is still working, you might want to do that as a preventative measure. If it works maybe add that process to your videos. Thanks

Looks like something I can handle. I was considering rhe Smart Plug, but it's pretty pricey. Thanks for giving me a far cheaper option.
