The beauty of making hst’s eight-at-once is that all outside edges are on the straight of grain. If you start with large squares a little bit larger (1/4”) than called for, the hst’s will be slightly oversized and can be trimmed to perfection.
Dear Donna I so loved your Chain Link quilt and the beautiful fabrics you chose to work it in. It so happens that they are my favourite colours. Thanks for the way you always explain the method in such an easy to understand manner. God bless you always xx
Man! I wish I could have won that hugs and kisses! I remember when you made that. It was when I first started watching you! It's absolutely GORGEOUS!! 💓💕❤️💕💓
I have never made a quilt, but want to so much, awaiting now in Melbourne for our Premier to announce in 10 mins time if we will or not be let out of lockdown. We have been in total lockdown from 6th July and I have crocheted my way through a lot of my cotton yarn doing Amigurumi for Christmas presents. If he allows the shops to open again, the first place I am going to is Spotlight for new yarn and cotton fabric. I have watched you for so long, I drool at your beautiful fabrics, we don't have the same selection here, so I am going to start buying on line. Thank you for making lockdown easier as I think I have watched most of your videos, I have been subscribed from the start of the year. Thank you, you make my imagination run riot!! love from Melbourne, Australia, xxx Doreen
As a new quilter/sewer I truly enjoy your tutorials. Others can be instructive but oh sooo boring. Your positivenes and natural charm is very refreshing. Thank you.
Thanks to you my 17 year old granddaughter want to do patchwork so thank you I am teaching her how to sew she is doing quite well just got to stop her running before she can walk
Hi Donna, this quilt is beautiful! Using the 1 yard fabric each is the best, quick simple piecing brought it all together. To make a masterpiece. Love watching u put it together 😍
The color palette is so subtle. This quilt seems zen. Might make a good gift for someone going through a rough time, such as an illness. Thanks, Donna.
Beautiful quilting again Donna, the blue and cream is absolutely stunning and the hugs and kisses as usual is lovely just right for the starting Christmas 🥰
I think this is my favourite quilt out of all I've seen..the colours are so calm and beautiful..and Donna your nails were my favourite too so far.. beautiful 😍💅🇫🇲
What a great quilt. I will be relocating to Tin Can Bay in Queensland, Australia I do not know of any material shop in the area. I will have to keep looking. I probably have to travel about 2 hours. You have inspired me, I am really enjoying my sewing now. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Donna & team for all your great videos & down to earth teaching. I’m new to quilting, started in lockdown, & your videos have ‘saved’ me LOL. Got a couple of projects planned thanks to your fantastic free patterns. But this quilt is just so Stunning ❤️ that I’ve got to put it to the top of my list. Thank you, Hannah, England
You are the reason i want to quilt. And what i love most about it, is you make it easy to understand, and include the little things that make you successful with your first project. Thank you.
Love that you are doing kits of your videos. I’m a kit person and this is a perfect way to complete your amazing videos. I would love for you to also offer the suggested backing as an add on to the kits. Thank you so much.
Donna, that blue and cream makes a beautiful serene quilt.....also, love the Christmas hugs and kisses too. You are amazing and I enjoy every tutorial! Thanks
Thank you, Donna (and crew!) I always learn something new from you and I just love hearing you teach. This quilt is lovely :-) I love the fab five concept too!
Good morning Donna and all at Jordans, This chain link pattern would make a beautiful baby quilt that could last them longer than their baby years. I have been trying to find a pattern that the 5 meters of fat quarters i have would work for my special baby granddaughter and this is just perfect, She is my special granddaughter because i am her mum's step mother and have been for the last 33 years since she was 6 weeks old. I was so, so chuffed when she told me that i was going to be her granny fee and what better a compliment can anyone get given. I have made my first quilt and that was for my grandson because of you Donna, i just have to finish the last 2 rows of in the ditch quilting and put on the binding. It is a disappearing nine patch done in Toy Story 4 materials that Harry(5) is over the moon with. It is 86x96 and has been quite a challenge getting it quilted with my 7 inch throat sewing machine, lol but it's on the finishing leg and it overs his double bed and he can get a cuddle from me any time he needs it. This new one will be slightly smaller in ambition but will still be a good size to get a granny fee cuddle anytime Scarlett wants as well. Thank you so very, very much Donna for giving me the confidence to try quilting, for giving the encouragement that we can do it by breaking it down into doable segments and for the continuous ideas for reaching those impossible goals that we set ourselves in the way of new designs all the time. Have a great week flower you and all at Jordan's, sending crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland
Norah McPhee, I not only love this quilt pattern, I love your comment even more. I have a little Scarlet myself and I want to make her a quilt she can wear when she curls up on the couch. It’s a funny idea her dad came up with when he was young, but I thought it was just a joke. Now I have seen on you tube that you can sew a wearable blanket, so why not a quilted one.? You have a great day. And thank you Donna for helping us and inspiring us every time you make a video.
Grand babies and quilting are what keep us going. Don't give up finishing your quilt as it will be cherished for years to come. I have been making baby quilts for 35 years and I still have people tell me how much they love their "baby quilts" and are still using them.. I almost always make them adult throw size without juvenile themes.
the quilting machine is probablly my most favorite part. yeah watching the whole process just to get to the quilting is worth it. very nice quilt and color choice.
Merci beaucoup Dona vos vidéos son superbes! On a les goût de touts les faire. Fabuleux Vous enseigne très bien, avec vous tout paraît si facile. Merci encore.
The pattern and the selection of the colors of the fabric could not be better not to mention what an excellent Coulter you are everything looks so easy when you do it LOL thank you so much for your videos you are most inspiring
Watching your video today (as I do most days) and you made me flinch. Your fingers came very close to the needle while you were sewing several times. But I saw no liquid red stuff anywhere, so I know you were OK. Just reminded me that I hadn't said hi and that I enjoy your emails and videos and thanks for being here. ❤
Absolutely love the colors of the fabrics you selected. So beautiful and calming. I'm thinking it would make a wonderful wedding quilt or babt quilt. It would be great to see it made up in the pink fabric group you had picked out.
Donna this quilt is extremely beautiful. I would love to see it in burgundy and mauve colors. Thank you for sharing this with us! Have a wonderful day!
Donna, using your finger pressing method is working well for me. Bim making the Bento Box quilt, and finger pressing each block before I iron it really helps. Thanks for all of your videos.
Once again excellent tutorial Donna, thank you for showing every single step, and not skipping steps like so many others do. Beautiful quilt! Love it👍👍👍👍👍
