I remember an interview of Israeli and Palestinians years ago. The Israelis spoke to the need to compromise and peace. The Palestinians talked of having as many children as they can, so that those children can 'become martyrs and kill as many jews as they can'. THAT is why I totally support Israel. They are against an absolute terrorist organisation that does not want to engage in any sort of peace because to do so would mean they have to let go of power.

It is hard to negotiate a 2 state solution when one side (Hamas) only wants ‘The Final Solution’. Israelis will stand in front of their children to defend them while Palestinians (Hamas) will place their children in front of themselves and use them as human shields. Big difference.
The two-state solution has already been done, there is Israel and then there is Jordan. The Jordanians kick the PLO out because they tried to take over and declare unending war on Israel.

A large majority of people lack full understanding of the history between Israelis and Palestinians. They are quick to judge that Israelis are bad people because they supposedly "occupy" Palestinian land. But, people need to go back before 1948 to see how the situation transpired up to the 1967 war and where things are today. Maybe then, they'll have a better understanding and a different opinion about the Israelis Palestinian conflict.

The oldest one went to Kindergarten and 1st grade in a Christian school in which I taught. Then, starting 2nd grade, we decided to homeschool her, her sister, and two brothers all the way through (1992-2011). One of the best and most rewarding decisions (for us and them) we ever made! Now, my four grandkids are being homeschooled, praise the Lord!

The two state solution would be great, there is nothing better that I think most sane people could think of than both groups in the area living peacefully side by side. But it has been tried multiple times and each time rejected only by one side. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire following World War I, Britain took control of most of the Middle East, including the area that constitutes modern Israel. Seventeen years later, in 1936, the Arabs rebelled against the British, and against their Jewish neighbors. The British formed a task force - the Peel Commission - to study the cause of the rebellion. The commission concluded that the reason for the violence was that two peoples - Jews and Arabs - wanted to govern the same land. The answer, the Peel Commission concluded, would be to create two independent states - one for the Jews, and one for the Arabs. A two-state solution. The suggested split was heavily in favor of the Arabs. The British offered them 80 percent of the disputed territory; the Jews, the remaining 20 percent. Yet, despite the tiny size of their proposed state, the Jews voted to accept this offer. But the Arabs rejected it and resumed their violent rebellion. (1st rejection). Ten years later, in 1947, the British asked the United Nations to find a new solution to the continuing tensions. Like the Peel Commission, the UN decided that the best way to resolve the conflict was to divide the land. On November 7, 1947, the UN voted to create two states. Again, the Jews accepted the offer. And again, the Arabs rejected it, only this time, they did so by launching an all-out war. (Second rejection). Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria joined the conflict. But they failed. Israel won the war, and got on with the business of building a new nation. Most of the land set aside by the UN for an Arab state - the West Bank and east Jerusalem - became occupied territory; occupied not by Israel, but by Jordan. Twenty years later, in 1967, the Arabs, led this time by Egypt and joined by Syria and Jordan, once again sought to destroy the Jewish State. The 1967 conflict, known as the Six Day War, ended in a stunning victory for Israel. Jerusalem and the West Bank, as well as the area known as the Gaza Strip, fell into Israel’s hands. The government split over what to do with this new territory. Half wanted to return the West Bank to Jordan and Gaza to Egypt in exchange for peace. The other half wanted to give it to the region’s Arabs, who had begun referring to themselves as the Palestinians, in the hope that they would ultimately build their own state there. Neither initiative got very far. A few months later, the Arab League met in Sudan and issued its infamous “Three No’s:” No peace with Israel. No recognition of Israel. No negotiations with Israel. Again, a two-state solution was dismissed by the Arabs (3d rejection). In 2000, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barack met at Camp David with Palestinian Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat to conclude a new two-state plan. Barack offerred Arafat a Palestinian state in all of Gaza and 94% of the West Bank with East Jerusalem as its capital. But the Palestinian leader rejected the offer. In the words of US President Bill Clinton, Arafat was “here 14 days and said no to everything”. Instead, the Palestinians launched a bloody wave of suicide bombings that killed over 1,000 Israelis and maimed thousands more (4th rejection). In 2008, Israel tried yet again. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert went even further than Ehud Batak had, expanding the peace offer to include additional land to sweeten the deal. Like his predecessor, the new Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, turned the deal down. (5th rejection). In between these last two Israeli offers, Israel unilaterally left Gaza, giving the Palestinians complete control there. It was the first time Israel had not attempted to exchange land for peace and just gave land in hopes of peace. Instead of developing this territory for the good of its citizens using the aid that Israel and other countries gave them to do so, the Palestinians turned Gaza into a terrorist base, from which they have fired thousands of rockets into Israel. They have used cement given by Israel to build homes to build terror tunnels to go into Israel and kill Israelis, they have used pipes as rocket launchers and they use all money that comes in from Israel, America, the Arab world and the UN not to build another Tel Aviv but toward Hamas’ singular goal of killing Jews. Every time they do this they use hospitals, schools and apartment buildings as their base of operations (the locations of their tunnels, rocket launchers and military). In response to this the IDF does what is known as “roof knocks” to warn the civilians in the area to leave so that they can take out the point Hamas is using to kill Israelis. They also drop pamphlets and put Arab language broadcasts out warning where they will attack. Hamas tells its civilians to stay (and sometimes forces them to stay) so they can use them as propoganda to claim Israel is killing civilians too. When you say Free Palestine you either mean Free Palestine from Hamas (and give the two state solution Israel has been attempting for decades a chance) or you mean “Kill Jews”. And if it is Israel you are directing your anger at for the plight of the Palestinian people, rather than Hamas, then it’s pretty clear you mean the latter.
Superb quick summary. Regarding those "roof knocks": one of the things I noticed in the recorded bombings of the Israeli strikes - not once, of so many videos, could I see a single person - civilian or otherwise - down on the street next to those targeted buildings. Not one. I'm not denying there may have been building occupants, but those streets were empty all around the immediate block. I interpret that as pretty effective roof knocks.

I have family (older) like this guy. While Obama was President they were assuring me that he'd never willingly leave office, but would overthrow the government and declare Sharia Law. Kirk doesn't have facts in this instance. Palestine was a territory mapped by the Roman Empire and named Philistina (Palistine). Israel was never on any map prior to 1948, when Palestinian land was stolen to create israel

The kid was focused on the fact that the Palestinians aren't allowed to be free or exist or have a Palestinian state, yet they have their own race, their own lands, their own country, they own the gaza strip, and they still claim "Allow us to exist! Allow us to be free!", but they refuse to create their own state within their own lands.
Charlie should have hammered it home that there is no such thing as an ethnic Palestinian. There is no such thing as a Palestinian country, tribe, or ethnic group, such a thing has never existed. The people in Gaza are Arabs, anyone who calls themselves a Palestinian should be laughed at, that is like calling yourself an ethnic New Yorker. They have a homeland, it's called Jordan, and the PLO was kicked out. Hamas is just the PLO under a different name.

A large majority of people lack full understanding of the history between Israelis and Palestinians. They are quick to judge that Israelis are bad people because they supposedly "occupy" Palestinian land. But, people need to go back before 1948 to see how the situation transpired up to the 1967 war and where things are today. Maybe then, they'll have a better understanding and a different opinion about the Israelis Palestinian conflict.

The oldest one went to Kindergarten and 1st grade in a Christian school in which I taught. Then, starting 2nd grade, we decided to homeschool her, her sister, and two brothers all the way through (1992-2011). One of the best and most rewarding decisions (for us and them) we ever made! Now, my four grandkids are being homeschooled, praise the Lord!

The two state solution would be great, there is nothing better that I think most sane people could think of than both groups in the area living peacefully side by side. But it has been tried multiple times and each time rejected only by one side. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire following World War I, Britain took control of most of the Middle East, including the area that constitutes modern Israel. Seventeen years later, in 1936, the Arabs rebelled against the British, and against their Jewish neighbors. The British formed a task force - the Peel Commission - to study the cause of the rebellion. The commission concluded that the reason for the violence was that two peoples - Jews and Arabs - wanted to govern the same land. The answer, the Peel Commission concluded, would be to create two independent states - one for the Jews, and one for the Arabs. A two-state solution. The suggested split was heavily in favor of the Arabs. The British offered them 80 percent of the disputed territory; the Jews, the remaining 20 percent. Yet, despite the tiny size of their proposed state, the Jews voted to accept this offer. But the Arabs rejected it and resumed their violent rebellion. (1st rejection).
Ten years later, in 1947, the British asked the United Nations to find a new solution to the continuing tensions. Like the Peel Commission, the UN decided that the best way to resolve the conflict was to divide the land. On November 7, 1947, the UN voted to create two states. Again, the Jews accepted the offer. And again, the Arabs rejected it, only this time, they did so by launching an all-out war. (Second rejection). Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria joined the conflict. But they failed. Israel won the war, and got on with the business of building a new nation. Most of the land set aside by the UN for an Arab state - the West Bank and east Jerusalem - became occupied territory; occupied not by Israel, but by Jordan.
Twenty years later, in 1967, the Arabs, led this time by Egypt and joined by Syria and Jordan, once again sought to destroy the Jewish State. The 1967 conflict, known as the Six Day War, ended in a stunning victory for Israel. Jerusalem and the West Bank, as well as the area known as the Gaza Strip, fell into Israel’s hands. The government split over what to do with this new territory. Half wanted to return the West Bank to Jordan and Gaza to Egypt in exchange for peace. The other half wanted to give it to the region’s Arabs, who had begun referring to themselves as the Palestinians, in the hope that they would ultimately build their own state there. Neither initiative got very far. A few months later, the Arab League met in Sudan and issued its infamous “Three No’s:” No peace with Israel. No recognition of Israel. No negotiations with Israel. Again, a two-state solution was dismissed by the Arabs (3d rejection).
In 2000, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barack met at Camp David with Palestinian Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat to conclude a new two-state plan. Barack offerred Arafat a Palestinian state in all of Gaza and 94% of the West Bank with East Jerusalem as its capital. But the Palestinian leader rejected the offer. In the words of US President Bill Clinton, Arafat was “here 14 days and said no to everything”. Instead, the Palestinians launched a bloody wave of suicide bombings that killed over 1,000 Israelis and maimed thousands more (4th rejection).
In 2008, Israel tried yet again. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert went even further than Ehud Batak had, expanding the peace offer to include additional land to sweeten the deal. Like his predecessor, the new Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, turned the deal down. (5th rejection).
In between these last two Israeli offers, Israel unilaterally left Gaza, giving the Palestinians complete control there. It was the first time Israel had not attempted to exchange land for peace and just gave land in hopes of peace. Instead of developing this territory for the good of its citizens using the aid that Israel and other countries gave them to do so, the Palestinians turned Gaza into a terrorist base, from which they have fired thousands of rockets into Israel. They have used cement given by Israel to build homes to build terror tunnels to go into Israel and kill Israelis, they have used pipes as rocket launchers and they use all money that comes in from Israel, America, the Arab world and the UN not to build another Tel Aviv but toward Hamas’ singular goal of killing Jews.
Every time they do this they use hospitals, schools and apartment buildings as their base of operations (the locations of their tunnels, rocket launchers and military). In response to this the IDF does what is known as “roof knocks” to warn the civilians in the area to leave so that they can take out the point Hamas is using to kill Israelis. They also drop pamphlets and put Arab language broadcasts out warning where they will attack. Hamas tells its civilians to stay (and sometimes forces them to stay) so they can use them as propoganda to claim Israel is killing civilians too.
When you say Free Palestine you either mean Free Palestine from Hamas (and give the two state solution Israel has been attempting for decades a chance) or you mean “Kill Jews”. And if it is Israel you are directing your anger at for the plight of the Palestinian people, rather than Hamas, then it’s pretty clear you mean the latter.

Regarding those "roof knocks": one of the things I noticed in the recorded bombings of the Israeli strikes - not once, of so many videos, could I see a single person - civilian or otherwise - down on the street next to those targeted buildings. Not one. I'm not denying there may have been building occupants, but those streets were empty all around the immediate block. I interpret that as pretty effective roof knocks.

I have well meaning friends just like this guy, they get all their information from left leaning media outlets and believe whatever they say. Then when you give them some 'facts' they refuse to listen. Ignorance isn't bliss, it's our downfall.
I have family (older) like this guy. While Obama was President they were assuring me that he'd never willingly leave office, but would overthrow the government and declare Sharia Law. (He was a secret Muslim who was secretly pro African and anti American, something like that). He'd also put all conservatives in concentration camps. It never materialized. Now they are saying Biden is well not Muslim but anti white and anti American, and his border policies are a secret plot to make this a brown country to make up for past white oppression, something like that. When that does not materialize they will go on to more misinformation they get courtesy of right leaning outlets.
If you think this is isolated thinking, it's not. It is actually pretty common among conservative whites in rural Georgia, which is most whites in rural Georgia. It's not saying this pro Hamas BS is acceptable. The real issue is all the people on both sides who are basically brainwashed by the 24/7 "news" on their phones and televisions, as well as social media.
