Wow, It does`nt get much better than this, All things Kites and beautiful. What an extremely colourful video. I was very close to coming over there for a few days, But was`nt sure about accommodation. There is a lot of work gone into this video and it is much appreciated by us all, Thanks for sharing, Brilliant.
🧠 Blown. You really know what the best angles and setups look like. As I'm viewing these I am blown away at your remarkable editing talent. My dream= one day to meet you at a festival friend!
I hope so too Amy. Part of the secret is to have lots of footage, know your audience and tell a story. Avoid excessive zooming and firehosing/ swishing the camera.
Some great video there, Glenn - mostly by Cherie, I'm guessing, as you would have been busy flying kites. Greatest impression is of the amazing number of kite arches, kite trains, windsocks, line laundry and ground items which filled every inch of space. And particularly the enormous number of Brasington kites, which looked superb. I see you've gone into the advertising business again. I hope Premier are paying you handsomely; I've had too many problems with them to want to promote their kites, although my videos do that to an extent. I wish Washington wasn't so far away!
+Jim Nicholls I too wish that you and the "boys" in our group could attend. Then again, with the amount of kites we all tend to launch at any given time, even Long Beach might seem compact! Cherie did a superb job of showing WSIKF at its windy best. She didb't show the dawn patrol, night kites or the ascensions that were compromised by inclement conditions. Still, there was no shortage of kites and kiting. There was a real homage to Brasington this year. His honor is no doubt reinforced because he teaches a class at their annual kitemaking conference. I have had good luck with Premier. Some of my best built and most useful framed kites are Premier products. I am delighted with the spectacle of the Premier Promo kite and the Killip 90 kite. Those kites are "business in the front, party in the back" kites for sure! Keep in touch, it's good to hear from you.
Premier have made some good kites to be sure. I haven't been impressed by their quality control in many instances, nor by their (lack of) customer service, which is no doubt partly due to my distance from their base. I'm also unhappy that they are discontinuing so many good kites and with others are replacing attractive applique designs with nasty printed fabrics. I know I'm not the only one to feel that way.
+Jim Nicholls I recommend the Killip Foil. it would make an excellent companion show kite to your giant fish Kites. Once you get one, immediately buy a shaved ice snowcone maker. People will assume a festival is going on, so you might as well cash in on it!
EPIC ! What a week of all things kiting. There seemed to be a mix of some very original crafted kite designs and a sky full of "Brasington" kites. Lovely to see so many children enjoying their kites. A wonderful mass Cody collective. Tell me who is the H A H N camp with the impressive tent and banner set up? Thanks Glenn & Cherie for this video record. Spotted your kites among the the sky full.
Carl, the HAHN group appeared mid week and seemed to be a German kite club. Their shelter had a tubular aluminum framework and color coordinated canopy and banners. Although I did not speak to any of them, it was apparent they came to play. I wouldn't be surprised if they were not Rev kite devotees. there must have been a half dozen people in the cohort.
+Kite flying DownUnder.... Carl Gillard Glad to oblige Carl, I am still in recovery mode from the experience. I was on the beach daily before sun up and the sands were loose, having not been wetted by rains for a while. It was a push, so I am glad you appreciate the video.
Glenn, Thanks for this amazing video. It's such a cool kite festival. You did justice to the grandeur and festival of colors, patterns, geometric shapes... so cool.
The spiky ball with legs was a Gomberg Kite accessory item. Try searching Fun with Wind kites or Weifang New Sky Kite factory for something similar. Remember the fun is in the chase,
You are certainly welcome. Until such time as you master the daisy chain , may I suggest you sleeve the multiple bridle lines ? Also , consider securing the end loop to a tassel or sleeve to prevent it falling back into the bridles. Hope to see you and the missus on the 'old trail sometime soon. Glenn.
That is really amazing. WOW! There is some really creative things flying there. Did I see Superman up there at the 16:20 mark? Really cool. They are going to have a festival here in Two Rivers WI on Labor Day weekend. They always have a Kites Over Lake Michigan on that weekend. I going and I'm flying some of my planes.
It is not a DC kite. It may be a della porta variant. It was a home built kite and rather heavy. If you are looking for a DC kite, hurry to Gomberg Kites factory warehouse web page. Great prices at this time.
WSIKF has a night fly, check the Washington International Kite Museum website for a schedule. It will likely be Friday night. I also believe that the AKA convention in Seaside Oregon will host a night kite fly in October. Please understand that it is likely that coastal night kite flights and pre-dawn kite flights will be complicated by fog, wet and sloppy. Even a light mist will be a sand magnet. Therefore, carpe diem, my friend and fly when you can. I posted a couple of night kite videos on my channel flown at home. Regards.
Another great video and kite flying! I really have to spend the week there when I go again. 2 days just wasn't enough last time. What's the deal with the Premier foil? Did they send that to you to replace the other one?
Green is an underutilized color and is spectacular in the sky. WSIKF is where serious kite builders strut their stuff. There are definitely not a simple weekend kite constructions. For some the attention to detail is almost obsessive compulsive. Few if any will ever go into production.
Hi, yes many of them are. There is actually a judging event for several types of kite styles. People may work up to a year getting a piece ready. Those who don't finish or won't finish will sometimes offer up their UFO, unfinished object at a fundraising dinner/auction. It is common for kite clubs to host a make and take workshop during the year. The finished works are brought to WISKIF to be appreciated. Regarding purchased kites, Gomberg's kites are in abundance on the giant kite field.
+Robert Aldrich You will not be disappointed, Robert. In fact, when the other giant kiters see how efficient this kite is to transport and fly, there may be a line forming.
NotnaRed Please consider this NotaRed, 1. the video is not monetized, 2. Production music costs money, 3. UA-cam etiquette calls for a two to one ratio of constructive comments to critical ones when commenting. 4. You do not have to say everything that comes into your head. Please try harder to be civil in the future, we would all appreciate it.

It was a peak experience for Cherie and I!
4:00 What on earth is that guy? I’ve never seen laundry like that! I like him! How do I look it up? What’s it called? Who makes it? Thanks!

Love that IBM "Kugelkopf" Schreibmachine at the beginning of your video. I use to repair those in the good old days back in CH...
Hi, its a fun animation and takes many of us back to the good old days of correction fluid!
Yup... I feel our "pain"...... LOLOL
Great video Glenn. Fantastic collection of kites.
It was a sight to behold! Now, I'm home in recovery mode, but working on a new kiting skill. More as that develops, later. Glenn.
Hi Glenn wanted to say thank for helping me on geisha moon kite at the kite party in HB dave.

I sure will.
2:55 name of kite? And flyer?
The kite looks like a chinese dragon, or centipede kite of a custom design. I think Rick White is flying it.
3:50 is thata Delta Conyne Kites

I've both😀
Well at least this one flies.
+Nick Taylor It is a jewel, a rather big one, but a jewel!
The Tri-D / Delta Conyne Hybrid at 14:45 is Amaze-Ballz!

Are any of these kites handmade?
