My hatred for big oil has eclipsed my hatred for the final seasons of GOT.
The biggest mistake people are making, is thinking "big clean energy" is any different than "big oil". They rape the earth just like big oil does and they use oil and coal to produce their "clean" energy. What do you think clean energy is doing now? They are buying up politicians and also bending science for their own profit.
And this isn't some defense of big oil. People throw their fists at big oil, and don't realize they are just propping up the second version of it. The real problem isnt big oil, but society's habitual lifestyle. Everything on this planet is reliant on oil and coal. From production to shipping it to you. Everything. The device you used to watch this video and make this post, is tied to big oil. It would be less tasking to name things NOT reliant on oil and coal, than naming things that are.

In the middle section where he mentions "Solutions" -- those of us who have been on the front lines of climate communication for a decade now realize that tweaking the edges is no longer enough, the only way to pull out the root of the problem is to nationalize the energy sector, seize the assets of the fossil fuel industry, indict their CEOs, boards and investors for Crimes Against Humanity, and create a public works program to insulate all the old housing platts, increase energy efficiency, and make energy affordable and clean for all.
So…I guess I'm with Jon Snow on this one!
They have too much money and power, I wish this was possible but as it stands we’d need a revolution of some kind, cause god knows the dingleberries in DC won’t accomplish anything close to this in the time we have left.

You live in a fantasy world. The clean energy you talk about is reliant on oil to be produced. The device you used to watch this video and then comment, is reliant on big oil to both produce and transport it to you. How do you think these "clean energy" companies produce their energy? With oil and coal. I agree that every home being properly insulated would greatly help. But then how is that insulation produced?
What you say is noble and sounds great, but it's delusional. The absolute FIRST step is to find a middle ground, that's based in reality. The main problem with "activism" is that it is more based in hating something, rather than solution. If you just simply "hate" oil, rather than comprehending it's importance, further steps will be illogically taken and the result could be even worse than where you started.
@@yourwrong6861 and oil was reliant on bamboo stocks, leaving the idea of a giant drill to be a pipe dream (pun intended) and gone are the days of carrying oil with buckets, as we have gas guzzling transportation as well! Oil became reliant on oil. Seriously though, It could be a pretty quick transition to 100% renewable energy if our global leaders could get it together… especially with the technological advancements we have today, it’s sad we’re not reaching our full potential because the clock is ticking and we really don’t have long. I mean, we’re working on nuclear fusion ffs, if you think we can’t use solar panels, wind mills and electric vehicles to power the resources needed for renewable energy, you got some more thinking to do. Even if they were reliant on oil for a bit, manufacturing renewable energy sources takes up an incredibly minuscule fraction of global carbon emissions, if that was the only thing we used oil and gas for during a short transitional stage it would still be HUGE.

No one technically should go without food either. Good luck getting that to happen, which would entail greed being wiped from the equation. Like I told the other guy, until someone gets a grasp of actual reality, and a grasp of human nature (greed), the things you suggest are as real as fairies and wizards.
All these "moves to clean energy" proposed by politicians, media, world economic forum, etc...are mere plays on society. It's just moving product in a different way. The things you suggest of course would work. It just wouldnt work for the powers that be, because that would take money & power from their pockets.
And electric cars would absolutely not be a good alternative. There are going to eventually soil the planet in the opposite direction. You should research the mining of the product needed to power electric vehicles. There are also studies coming out showing the adverse effects of solar farms.
The planet is going to have her way with us, no matter what we do, or dont do. It's a noble thought, but completely arrogant and naive at the same time, to think we can alter or control here. It's laughable really.

Great video! 😂 One thing eyes pointing out that is that “reducing pollution” sounds great and has obvious benefits. But there’s also a drawback. Pollution (smog, soot, etc) consists of tiny particles (“aerosols”) which reflect some sunlight, thus actually cooling the Earth. This “making” of heat is probably 0.5°C - 1.0°C. So as we reduce pollution, the making will lessen and heat will rise.
Sure, and slavery was bad but had benefits...
There are easier solutions to that problem than to the problem of continued greenhouse gas emissions accumulating in Earth's atmosphere.

The warming of our planet isn't "life-murdering." Rainn conveeeeeniently fails to mention that planetary leaf cover has INCREASED because - surprise! - plants breathe in CO2. A small increase in CO2 has apparently made it a bit easier for plants to breathe, which has spurred their growth.
What eats plants? Animals as well as we humans. What eats the animals eating the plants? Other animals, and of course, ME, because steak is awesome.
Leaf cover isn’t the only life.

I still think the message is a bit vague. It should be (1) stop emitting CO₂ (2) do not _buy_ anything at all that uses gasoline (petrol), diesel, n̶a̶t̶u̶r̶a̶l̶ ̶g̶a̶s̶ fossil methane, oil coal, or wood (3) if offered in your area, switch to renewable electricity.
No such thing as renewable energy. Look at the wind turbines there burying in Wyoming, solar panels decay, and lithium mining for batteries isn't green.
There’s a long list of the “how”, even beyond that.
That chart was a bigger piece of fiction than all seasons of GoT combined.
