When I'm in Aussie I fish the same very shallow water but mostly with surface lures. The fish I catch aren't feeding off the surface but the lures induce strikes. I use lures like the Bassday Sugarpen and MMD Splashprawn. You would have to take the silly little trebles off and put on stronger singles. Real exciting when they bow wave in on the lure.
Remember when casting, the prey doesn't chase the predator so try not to reel the lure into the fish. Awesome footage, well done that man.
