I have no doubt you have heard the negative feedback on this company. I admire your willingness and ability to give them a chance and go in with an open mind.
Thanks for the video Dan! I have heard reviews of Manscape and seen their clippers in Target and other big box stores. Always good to see a review from the Trusted Teacher.
I got the lawnmower 3. The sub wasn't difficult 2 end. I go thru about 3 guards when fading my sideburns. Never wanted a beard trimmer cuz I've always had clippers. But that guard system looks like a time saver 4 sure
My only criticism would be their commercial, as a non-sports guy, I had no idea who the golfer in the ad is, let alone his reputation... But anyone with a beard the size he has, in my opinion, shouldn't be trimming his neck like they show in the ad... I instantly had a bad impression of the product, add that to the already bad feeling from the "Lawnmower" and... Meh...
I haven’t seen that ad yet, but sounds like really valid feedback. Marketing departments have often had some negative impacts on companies all over the place, in my opinion. It is sad when that happens!
Would this make a good all-around stubble and short beard trimmer? I would use the low settings on the adjustable guard to maintain stubble or short beard and the base blade to edge. My only concern is the bulkiness of the guard and getting in the tight spots like under the nose. I’ve been struggling to find one for this use.
Great job. Interesting that they have a “T-Blade”, which I don’t see often on beard trimmers. It is essential for ear trims like you did, and some mustache-trimming techniques.
Good point, that is true! I like the Tblade for those reasons and for the detail work. This was right on par with the other dedicated beard trimmers out there for me
I have the 2.0 not the hedger and was automatically signed up for the replacement blade subscription. Was easy enough to cancel and I haven't needed to replace it over a year later
How long did it take to grow your majestic Viking beard? I started my beard journey a month ago and it was out of control and I decided to run it a little bit did an awful job. I was trying to shave it evenly but left half an inch. I think I'll be ordering this one that looks easy to use and keeps the length I desire.
Can you please talk about finding the perfect barber. You know how many times we have grown out sweet as beards and trust someone to completely fuck it up. Fail to understand what we want trimmed up. I was at 6 inches and now I'm at 2 I'm sad say a prayer for me 😂😂😂😂😂. All I could think is dude why....I think it would be a solid video...thanks for all thr time you put in on these videos I appreciate you.
Before buying my new Brio V2, I looked at bunches of trimmers. I saw a few different brands that had incorporated a similar, adjustable guard system. Seems to be a popular design. Also, great to hear your thoughts on the Manscaped products in general. Thanks for putting that out to the community!
Do you like what you have the V2 or whatever, I looked it up and just from a quick look seemed nice but idk I just want something that's gonna workwell
Ive never tried this one because of having the Brio, but i would probably upgrade in the future to the Bayliss like you have. Great video and review Dan 👏
Great vid! The guard system seems to work better that I had envisioned in my mind. For shorter beards or someone who does a lot of fading could have potential to be handy. When it comes to subscriptions I’m totally “that guy”. My first experience w anything like that I had purchased a weed eater. Month or so later I get replacements and a bottle of crop duster (now 100% my fault for not reading what I’m clicking on, and keeping track of emails etc). Anyway I hadn’t realized I had signed up for it and paid for product I would never use. Made me feel like I got hosed. Then when I go to re order I have to reset password cause 🤷♂️ who knows lol then make sure I go back in and cancel. Would much rather just order when I need or want was a absolute deal breaker for me. Type of person that doesn’t mind doing something until you tell me I have to… an option to subscribe or one time purchase would bring me back until then….🍻🍻🍻
You brave...you brave."-Hector (FnF1). I have their Lawnmower 3.0, which isnt all that bad. My mom once gifted me a Noreleco Multigroomer, which the various attachment guards. Ironically, as an influencer for Manscaped, I was a bit disappointed that I never received one - especially considering that I was one of the first ones to bring up beard grooming up in the Facebook group a few years back. It IS nice to see that they're testing the waters, but I'm not sure if they're in it for the right reasons. Might get in trouble for saying that, but I do love the products that I DO use from them, which is why I still recommend some of their products to people I know or ask me about them.
I would assume they are in it to make money, that is what business is all about. What would be the right reasons and how would they be wrong with this? Sorry they didn't send you, but that shouldn't take away from your thoughts on the possibility of the product and its quality.
@Dan C Bearded - Oh yeah, no. I didn't mean to come off as negative about not receiving the product or anything, lol. I'm disappointed, of course, but nothing more! I'm glad to see more companies stepping into the beard-care world! I'm even happy, if not surprised that they've stepped into it. I suppose, ultimately, if there would be anything negative, it would be between myself and the "behind the scenes" agreement I've had with the Influencer Team/Higher-ups.
Interesting! That guard system is actually pretty cool. I hate having to dig around in my storage container for the other guards, whenever I use a clipper. Good to know it doesn't bog down any either. If I am ever in the market I might have to try this one out. Have you tried any of their other tools out?
Interesting design, as someone who fade his hair a lot, that integrated adjustable guard system is very interesting, would save me quite some time and hassle switching back and forth between guards; just need to switch it up a notch gradually as you're going and that's it! Is it easy to accidentally put the wrong length adjustment though? Because I already tend to put Brio's double-sided guards on the wrong side for some reason, I always need to double check to ensure I'm not trimming to 3mm instead of 6 for example 😅 Messed up my hair so bad a few months ago because of that
The clicks are very secure and numbered clearly. My BIGGEST flaw with Brio is the guard system sucks. They click in spot is awful. My babyliss guards are much easier and more secure.
@@DanCBearded yes totally agree with that, you really need to align the guard grooves with the two little notches... Once happened that they weren't perfectly aligned but the guard seemed well clipped and secure... then it just jumped off the clipper mid trim, digging a clipper line into my sideburn... That's definitely something they need to work on, even the run of the mill Wahl I was using before had a better guard system.
Use to have a Manscape v3 and it worked pretty well Haven't tried their Beard trimmer but their subscription is really easy to cancel or change the date of your refill if you are eventually wanting to get a new blade

@@DanCBearded I am thinking about trimming to 6 inches. That couples comps I have done have taught me that I can't compete in the 6"-12". We will see how I feel....
Manscaped is definitely one of those brands that you're paying a premium price for the name. But personally, I'm a sucker for a brand name, especially on something I'll be using for years to come. My past trimmer was a Philips from Walmart, and it actually had the same adjustment guard system that this uses. That trimmer lasted me a solid decade so I'm quite adjusted to having that quick convenience. Was happy to see you had a review on this Dan and now can be more confident in dishing out a hundred bucks on something I know isn't going to be complete garbage 😅
I know this particular company doesn’t have the best reputation within the beard community, but this product seems decent enough! I have a backup Phillips trimmer with a similar adjustment mechanism that I recently obtained while visiting family overseas. While it would never replace my Beardscape, it does what I need it to do!

And that is awesome Steve, I for sure will meet you there. Please be sure to say hello and mention this comment so I realize. Lots of new people to meet so it can be tough to keep it straight lol let's have a great time!!
@@DanCBearded I am thinking about trimming to 6 inches. That couples comps I have done have taught me that I can't compete in the 6"-12". We will see how I feel....
Awesome!
Absolutely understand all around!
I know this particular company doesn’t have the best reputation within the beard community, but this product seems decent enough!
I have a backup Phillips trimmer with a similar adjustment mechanism that I recently obtained while visiting family overseas.
While it would never replace my Beardscape, it does what I need it to do!
Good feedback!
