Great to see them Eddie! Lost track.but in the great scheme of things..I was very lucky! Could never push in any further with that first one in the video..far too low in the bramble!

Once again tremendous amount of new nests and updates! Great job :) Those Whitethroats are growing like mushrooms! About the Bullfinch nest, I really with I could find one, but I think that in Bulgaria I'll need to go up in elevation in order to have any chances.

Great videos. Do you use a thermal scope often, is it successful ?

It's easy to lose track of the nest development, but recently the temperatures have improved, combined with the long days, those chicks have been fed a lot of insects.

nice to see youre still being so productive. You'd have wasted your money if you had bought a Thermal - not much use at all for bush bashing for passerines at this time of year :-) need to go through your other clips & see if / how the wet weather affected things

@@thegeordierambler4373 half the worlds birds are passerines, perching songbirds - as opposed to waders or gulls or falcons etc

I guess the nesting season is starting to slow down but at least birds have had a 2nd or 3rd chance to reproduce….so sad though when predators destroy them

i think what GR's clips demonstrate is the opposite, that the nesting season continues apace & will into August. What changes is the vegetation & observers levels of effort . :-)

Call me old fashioned but the increasing use of thermal images to go nesting is in my opinion wrong it's only trying to big the person up and make them look better than others who prefer to do it the old way who go for a walk with a stick

In fairness, I think the tool being used for population studies etc. is invaluable(great work in this area) As for nesting in general, in my opinion, yes you are right..a numbers game!! Watching/observation is not so important when you are going for a record, or trying to get 2 more than ‘John’ It’s a shame really. For me there is nothing better than finding a nest at the very earliest of stages, and watching the development from there.
The products being produced are becoming better and more affordable. Soon the penny will drop and the marketing of the big guns will move away from hunting and into birding, photography etc. 🤷‍♂️ Not for me tho!🤣😉
