I’m going to call my ass out. I have been doing CrossFit for years and I still don’t have double-unders. It has been the most frustrating movement for me. I will get them this year. Thank you for this video!
same me
have you got them ?
Wow, the “jump, spin , spin” without a rope made total sense. I totally feel the rhythm now. I kept thinking I had to jump faster and higher in order to keep up with a fast rope. That advice is gold!
Called me out on everything I was doing wrong lol. Thanks
I got you! 😉
same, this felt like a personal attack LOL
E Mola me too 😂
Lol this felt very personal hopefully i can get it now
OMG THIS IS MY CURRENT SITUATION AHAHAHHA I HOPE I GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME
This helped me so much, after watching this video I got it down in one day. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH.................... Jump, spin, spin Jump, spin, spin Jump, spin, spin Jump, spin, spin Jump, spin, spin
I practiced everyday until I got them. Now I have shin splints in both my legs. Success.
Quentin Randis literally the same. I can’t do a workout with doubles without it ending in shin splints. Never got them until the day I said “I’m getting doubles”, 40 minutes later, I got shin splints for the first time.
@@shainkidd2116 Yes the first weeks of practice are awful. To be faire, I'm now a lot more comfortable with them, practicing less, no more shin splints or anything, and got 17 rounds pretty much unbroken on 20.2. Practice makes perfect hey. Good luck bud!
.. Ahajaj!
Hey, do tibialis raises, if you can't find them online, reply to this comment
😂😂
Cole, I’ve been attempting to do double unders for several months with some minimal improvement. I tried using a Rogue speed rope and then progressed to a quarter pound rope. I finally was able to do double unders consistently on every other jump, then you crushed my world by saying that leads to poor timing. 😢Finally give it another whirl by using your “jump, spin, spin” technique and voilà. Unbroken 25 double unders using a quarter pound rope for the first time in my life- multiple times. And I’m 40!!!! You’re the man. 👍🏾Thanks much. Now HSPUs.....🙄
Absolutely LOVE hearing this!!!! So glad that cue worked for you! Thanks for sharing this with me. And remember to engage your lats and back on the HSPU 👍🏼
Been trying to get DUs for the last 4 years. The spin-spin queue was a game changer! Stringing together 20+ DUs just a week after watching this... HUGE THANKS!!!
Awesome!!! Nice work 👊🏼 thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for this video! I need to get 25 straight double unders to pass my conditioning test to be a personal trainer and this has been no doubt the toughest and most frustrating thing I've ever done in the gym. I hope these tips will help me!
Good luck Cody!! They will help, but you gotta practice every day... multiple times a day! It will come!!
I’m just coming to this video now. Did you get the the 25 done?
@@Nick051967 ofcourse he did
I learned by listening to my feet, listening to my rope, and adjusting my timing based on how fast I was jumping and how fast I was spinning my rope. I remember when I was learning, sometimes the music in the gym was too loud and I'd lose the sounds and trip. Great video!
Love how quick and consistent you are with tips after the announcement! I really take your guys advice into account, and it’s so helpful:)
Wow, thank you Olivia! We really appreciate that. Good luck this weekend!
Dude I gave up on trying to do them.... and that's mainly because what I was being taught was LITERALLY everything you were saying NOT to do. I'm not exaggerating. Everything my trainer was telling me, the piking, the slight bend in my arm, slightly lean forward, jump higher, start out bringing my knees up and when I get my timing down I'll be able to do it without that, try to do one double under every 5 or 10 single unders and when I get in the habit of doing one, try to do 2 in a row, then 3, and so on, ... these are LITERALLY things I was being taught. I have this video saved. I plan go back now and add this to my daily routine until I get them with all your tips. THANK YOU. I'll try to remember to come back to this video in a months time with my results
The tip on keeping my arms more to my side took all burn out of my shoulder and made it a much smoother exercise ;) thx friend 👊💪
Great tips, especially “jump, spin, spin”. Watched this right before a WOD involving 400+ DUs and RX’d them for the first time! It was all because of the “jump, spin, spin”. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Hi Cole, I couldn't agree more with you. I often see people using their entire arms to produce the revolutions on the rope when it's all about efficiency. The more efficiently you jump, the more you can jump, and the less tired you get.
Watched your video and bam, the next day I was able to get my double unders. I fixed the length of my rope and kept reminding myself to relax my body and use my wrists. Thanks for your tips!
Awesome! I LOVE hearing that! Nice job! 👊🏼
Getting a jump rope delivered today & challenging myself to learn double unders during lockdown! So glad this is the first vid that comes up! Wish me luck🤞🏼
Good luck! You got it!
Thank you for this empathetic and humble video
Great..thanks... I'm off to the gym this morning and will be practicing 😊👍
Gracias cole, mañana los pondre en practica. Espero me salgan PRONTO. Muy buen video. GRACIAS por los tips. Jump, spin ,spin. Go
I’ve been really working on my DU in the last couple weeks and definitely was exhibiting some of those common errors in my practice. Yesterday I was finally able to string 10 DU when I could previously only do about 2. Doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s a huge step for me and they are exhausting to boot.
Nice! That's some solid improvement right there!
This is the best DU advice I have seen! Watched last night and tried out the tips this morning. I went from 2 to 15 in one session. The best tip for me was keeping the arms straight/relaxed. I was too focused on keeping elbows bent before. Thank you!!!
Thanks for sharing your tips!
For now I'm in the Double, Single, Single rhythm.
I'm gonna try your Jump, Spin, Spin rhythm and hopefully link more dubs together.
Thanks!!
Oh great! Keep me posted on how that goes!
Hey Cole!
thank you so much for putting this video out!!! I first watched this video to correct my own technique. I saw a much bigger improvement in my form and stringing together more doubles in the next WOD that had the movement. today I helped another woman who is new to my box with her double unders describing to her everything in this video and she went from 0 to 2 to 5 to 10 doubles in a row in the same day!!!
Hey Jen! Thank you so much for sharing!!! That is SO awesome to hear!
I have the tired shoulders problem...I will definitely practice more using your advice. Thank you!! Love your videos!! 🤘🏼
Thanks Amber!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Jump, spin, spin! Jump, spin, spin! Ok got it, I’ll try that! 🤦🏻♀️ 🙌🏻
My wife has been working on these FOR EVER, your advice to keep her arms straighter and noticing your hands are even a little below your hips instead of high up seems to be making a huge difference for her. Crossfit championships (age group...) here we come!
I got my first double unders because of this vid!!! Thanks for that!
Lovely tips. Also breathing normally instead of holding it is also very essential
Hey Cole, this is great advice. I have a hard time with a lot of these points. I think my biggest problem is keeping my arms straight and staying streamlined. I'll have to implement these tips. "Jump, Spin, Spin" "Jump, Spin, Spin"
Ha! Jump, spin, spin! You got it!!
Good luck with them! 🙌🏼
Double under is the one thing I can’t do for the life of me. Mostly because I never been taught how to do it properly. Thx for the tip Cole!
Jump, spin spin, jump, spin spin, jump, spin spin, jump spin spin.... that's my new mantra! Love it!!
Man, this guy’s good. Great teaching. Thanks!
Thanks man. Got my first solid string of DUs today after watching your video for the third time. Especially the jump spin spin tip helped a lot.
Thanks for the video. I will try the jump spin spin rhythm.
Thanks Cole, I will try your advice after my knee op.
Good luck with your operation!
ur tips is so cool!!! I already got my double under yesterday with the idea jump spin spin!!! Good luck in ur rogue competition this weekends!!!
I love hearing that!!! Congrats!! Keep working hard!!
Thank you. I am going to try the "jump, spin, spin" tactic👍👍
I watched this video and then got my first double under yesterday from your tips! Thank you!
Awesome! Love hearing that! Congrats!
YESS!! Thanks to your spin spin jump I can now do 30 in row DU. I only make a jump.. jump.. jump of it, but it worked! Big thanks Cole
Super nice guy, his personality shines through . Look forward to more content from cole
Best advice video yet ! Did 50 today unbroken! PR
Awesome! Love hearing that. Congrats!
I went from 2 consecutive to 30 in about 15 mins after watching this.... THANK YOU
So awesome! Nice work!!! 🙌🏼 Thanks for sharing!
This is a great video, helped me a lot. The only thing I would add is that it also helps to see yourself in a mirror or even to see you shadow to make sure you are practicing with the right form.
Thanks so much cole. You are such a good guy. This video has allowed me to sleep at night.
hahaha! I love it! So glad you got some rest! ;)
Thanks, i m from Santa Catarina, Brazil
Nice video. Thanks Cole.
Sensacional!!! Finalmente um vidro que sai da caixinha!!! FANTASTIC
This is so weird to me. You'd think it would be such a simple concept to understand, but instead, I'm having so much trouble getting it. What I think will really help me next time I try it was watching you perform the "jump, spin, spin". I'm confident I will get it next time I try it.
Oh I hope you do!! I got faith in you! Keep me posted in how it is coming along!! :)
Yeah, I'm still stuck on doubleunders. You're video definitely makes sense, it's just me and my lack of rhythm. I'll keep practicing though.
Thank you so much for this video. I literally was doing all the bad habits😂😂 gonna go practice now!!
Cole, you are a lifesaver! I just did 10 double unders in a row, instead of 4 or 5 max, using your tips. Still, my legs / calves are tired pretty quick after that. Guess I jump a bit too high, still.
Ow, it also seems you use a bit more elbow every first spin, might that be correct? For single unders I just use my wrists, but for doubles I kept losing the position of my rope. Somehow, using a bit more elbow every first spin actually helps to keep the rope at the right speed.... Still a long way to go
Erik, that is great observation! I do use a tad more elbow on the first spin, then for the second spin rely on my wrists to keep the momentum of the rope up. Keep working on it! Glad to hear you are improving, friend!
Going to go and practice them now! Thank you so much this advice is so helpful, never heard about having the rhythm of jump spin spin before so going to implement that into my practice for sure! Love your videos :)
Great content! I just bought a speed rope to practice DUs. You helped identify some mistakes I was making, esp the double to single. And a great tip with "jump spin spin." Will definitely try that.
Great video, very good advice, I was making all of these mistakes
Thank you for this video, sir Cole! I will apply the things you said! 💪🏼🙏🏼
Wow these are really helpful. Thank you😊
So glad you find it helpful!! 😊🙌🏼
Thanks for clear and concise tips! I will definitely work on establishing good rhythm (no more 'single : double' attempts) and practice jumping right without a rope. Wishing you a great Easter weekend!
Thank you for the happy Easter wishes, Stuart! Hope you had a great Easter as well! Let me know how the Dubs are coming along!
Cole Sager Hi, thank you for taking time to reply! I am just back from a week long 'training vacation' with CrossFit Enköping (Sweden) - we were in southern Spain at CrossFit Torremolinos/La Roca. I practiced dubs for the free warm-ups and made some progress ... okay very limited progress but definitely heading in the right direction. Your advice really helped, especially thinking about the jump/spin spin rhythm and body alignment. Your tip about straight/relaxed arms made me pay attention to the rope length (as well as my arm position). My rope was far too long when I had my arms straight so I guess that was creating problems too!
I've still a way to go but it feels like a mind body connection might be just around the corner.
Thanks again for great and clear coaching. Wishing you and Genasee a fantastic day, all the best!
This video really help me, thanks sir!!!
Watching this after the ending of lock down makes me start to focus on them again which I was good at back in May hopefully next time am in the open gym then definitely keep on working on them m
I legit learned after watching this video thank you
Thanks Cole it was very helpful!!
Just wanted to say a massive Thank You!!!! Your video made me get double unders! Awesome 👌👌👌. Thanks once again 😊😊😊
Yes!!! rhythm is the key
Mate you should release a video on your neck workout, also your info is on point. Thanks
Great video !!!! Good explaining !!! Good in-front of Camera
I prefer the jump and "tap tap" method slapping your quads w/o a rope. You get the added bonus of hearing the sound and developing the rhythm needed to go unbroken.
Thank you for this! This is extremely helpful and I’m excited to try double understand again 🙂🙃
Super helpful stuff - do you have a vid of you just doing them for two mins so we can listen to the rhythm?
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for the tips!
Hey Cole! VERY good piece of advice! I consider myself particularly great at D.Us but still watched it. Totally worth it! I’ll be sharing with my friends who struggle with doubles. When I was trying to learn them I watched a lot of tutorials but none as good as this one! Thanks
Glad to hear that! Thank you!
I'll try to remember your advice on rhythm, thanks!
Got a few in a row today! Thanks Cole!
How do I go about measuring the length of rope I should use?
Great video and tips.
These videos are fantastic. Thank you.
Good points! How do you determine the right length of the rope? Help.
such insightful logical tips, thank you! really hope I'll get a hang of them now :)
omg this is so helpful
Thanks very much, Cole. 👊🏽🤗
Some great points! 👍👍👍
I finally got some double unders put together thank you so much
YES!!!! Congrats!
first tip.... relax. very useful!!!
The word rhythm is a good idea
Going to try that next time
Thanks for the tips
Great tips. I lost my DUs about 4 months ago and have been struggling to get them. Any tips on how to breathe?
That’s a great question! - remember how I say in the video that the rhythm stays the same no matter the speed of your DUs. “Jump, Spin, Spin” never changes. SOOOO... about every 10-15 DUs I will take a couple bigger jumps and slow my rope speed down a little, allowing me to grab a deep breath in the air. Then I will settle back into a faster pace.
I think at this point though, I would take a big deep breath before starting your DU attempt, exhale all the air, and then stay calm and relaxed, breathing naturally, and see how many you can do.
@@ColeSager great! Will try this! Thanks!!!
@@ColeSager also I wanted you to know that you give the best tips. My first open was last year and among all the videos that put up tips I like yours the best. I like that you also keep in mind the ones doing the scaled options. All the best!
Thank you! I really appreciate hearing that!
Tryn to get them for 2,5 years now. I'm totally lacking of rhythm all my life(over 40yrs). I started unable to do 3 SU in a row. It's very frustrating. I'm average practice jumproping 4 times a week. I try to implement jump, spin, spin now, maybe I get there 2019
😐
Martin Hardi I wish you the best of luck!!!
Awesome guide. and thanks to 2:21, we now all know how to spot you on the street.
Great video mate
Well tomorrow I will try the jump spin spin!
thank you! It was amazing
Magnificent! Thank you!
So good and soooo helpful!
great video :) New sub...I haven't checked out your other videos yet but your genuine personality and helpfulness sold me. I am NOT smooth at my double unders. I'm wondering about rope length..would you recommend a rope on the shorter side so you can keep your hands lower and closer to your body?
Honestly every over video did not help and now I can do it thanks sm
NEED SOME TIPS ON MUSCLE-UPS PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
Here are my tips on ring muscle ups: ua-cam.com/video/zCNJN2NTum8/v-deo.html
Somehow the jump rope manages to clip the family jewels at least once per session. What should I do?
Good tips mate thank you. This has been the Bain of my life to crack.
Thanks cole👐🏼👐🏼👐🏼
Great advice!👍
very great advice!
