    I’m going to call my ass out. I have been doing CrossFit for years and I still don’t have double-unders. It has been the most frustrating movement for me. I will get them this year. Thank you for this video!

    Wow, the “jump, spin , spin” without a rope made total sense. I totally feel the rhythm now. I kept thinking I had to jump faster and higher in order to keep up with a fast rope. That advice is gold!

      Quentin Randis literally the same. I can’t do a workout with doubles without it ending in shin splints. Never got them until the day I said “I’m getting doubles”, 40 minutes later, I got shin splints for the first time.

      @@shainkidd2116 Yes the first weeks of practice are awful. To be faire, I'm now a lot more comfortable with them, practicing less, no more shin splints or anything, and got 17 rounds pretty much unbroken on 20.2. Practice makes perfect hey. Good luck bud!

    Cole, I’ve been attempting to do double unders for several months with some minimal improvement. I tried using a Rogue speed rope and then progressed to a quarter pound rope. I finally was able to do double unders consistently on every other jump, then you crushed my world by saying that leads to poor timing. 😢Finally give it another whirl by using your “jump, spin, spin” technique and voilà. Unbroken 25 double unders using a quarter pound rope for the first time in my life- multiple times. And I’m 40!!!! You’re the man. 👍🏾Thanks much. Now HSPUs.....🙄

    I learned by listening to my feet, listening to my rope, and adjusting my timing based on how fast I was jumping and how fast I was spinning my rope. I remember when I was learning, sometimes the music in the gym was too loud and I'd lose the sounds and trip. Great video!

    Dude I gave up on trying to do them.... and that's mainly because what I was being taught was LITERALLY everything you were saying NOT to do. I'm not exaggerating. Everything my trainer was telling me, the piking, the slight bend in my arm, slightly lean forward, jump higher, start out bringing my knees up and when I get my timing down I'll be able to do it without that, try to do one double under every 5 or 10 single unders and when I get in the habit of doing one, try to do 2 in a row, then 3, and so on, ... these are LITERALLY things I was being taught. I have this video saved. I plan go back now and add this to my daily routine until I get them with all your tips. THANK YOU. I'll try to remember to come back to this video in a months time with my results

    Hi Cole, I couldn't agree more with you. I often see people using their entire arms to produce the revolutions on the rope when it's all about efficiency. The more efficiently you jump, the more you can jump, and the less tired you get.

    I’ve been really working on my DU in the last couple weeks and definitely was exhibiting some of those common errors in my practice. Cole, you are a lifesaver! I just did 10 double unders in a row, instead of 4 or 5 max, using your tips. Still, my legs / calves are tired pretty quick after that. Guess I jump a bit too high, still.
    Ow, it also seems you use a bit more elbow every first spin, might that be correct? For single unders I just use my wrists, but for doubles I kept losing the position of my rope. Somehow, using a bit more elbow every first spin actually helps to keep the rope at the right speed.... Still a long way to go

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  4 роки тому +1

      Erik, that is great observation! I do use a tad more elbow on the first spin, then for the second spin rely on my wrists to keep the momentum of the rope up. Keep working on it! Glad to hear you are improving, friend!

      Cole Sager Hi, thank you for taking time to reply! I am just back from a week long 'training vacation' with CrossFit Enköping (Sweden) - we were in southern Spain at CrossFit Torremolinos/La Roca. I practiced dubs for the free warm-ups and made some progress ... okay very limited progress but definitely heading in the right direction. Your advice really helped, especially thinking about the jump/spin spin rhythm and body alignment. Your tip about straight/relaxed arms made me pay attention to the rope length (as well as my arm position). My rope was far too long when I had my arms straight so I guess that was creating problems too!
      I've still a way to go but it feels like a mind body connection might be just around the corner.
      Thanks again for great and clear coaching. Wishing you and Genasee a fantastic day, all the best!

    Great tips. I lost my DUs about 4 months ago and have been struggling to get them. Any tips on how to breathe?

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  5 років тому +2

      That’s a great question! - remember how I say in the video that the rhythm stays the same no matter the speed of your DUs. “Jump, Spin, Spin” never changes. SOOOO... about every 10-15 DUs I will take a couple bigger jumps and slow my rope speed down a little, allowing me to grab a deep breath in the air. Then I will settle back into a faster pace.
      I think at this point though, I would take a big deep breath before starting your DU attempt, exhale all the air, and then stay calm and relaxed, breathing naturally, and see how many you can do.

      @@ColeSager also I wanted you to know that you give the best tips. My first open was last year and among all the videos that put up tips I like yours the best. I like that you also keep in mind the ones doing the scaled options. All the best!

    Tryn to get them for 2,5 years now. I'm totally lacking of rhythm all my life(over 40yrs). I started unable to do 3 SU in a row. It's very frustrating. I'm average practice jumproping 4 times a week. I try to implement jump, spin, spin now, maybe I get there 2019
    😐

    great video :) New sub...I haven't checked out your other videos yet but your genuine personality and helpfulness sold me. I am NOT smooth at my double unders. I'm wondering about rope length..would you recommend a rope on the shorter side so you can keep your hands lower and closer to your body?

    Somehow the jump rope manages to clip the family jewels at least once per session. What should I do?
