“There’s no substitute for hard work” -Zakk Wylde Beast video and I love you that you essentially demonstrated a lesson on what it looks like after practicing transcribing for 10,000 hours! Very much appreciated video. It’s humbling, and now I know that I need to get to work!
It's worth noting for the audio import and tempo matching, that some songs, especially older songs, often don't have a fixed tempo. Tempos can change for verse/chorus, but also, can be more groove based. Drummers can give the song some energy by speeding up gradually before a chorus etc. Or slowing down for a verse. That's how music was played before the music industry quantised, or locked everything to a grid in pro tools etc. So just be aware, if you set up a tempo at the start of a song, if it goes out of sync later it could be that the song tempo has actually changed or isn't consistant.
If you watched the video rather than trying to appear smart, you’d see that you can drag the markers in the audio file to line up transients to account for increases and decreases in tempo…
@@LeviClay Isn't Marty's comment just complementing your demonstration of the tool ? As like, don't be surprised if your song's tempo fluctuates more than a few %, it's the band playing whit out a click and not GP8 being buggy. This comment makes you appear kind of passive-aggressive, which I'm sure you're not, so that's sad.
@@LeviClay why are you being such a dick to someone whos clearly trying to help your viewers? hes just saying that people need to be aware. douchebag, was interested in your videos but now ill go to someone else
@@LeviClay I agree the tempo should stay the same, its not that the industry has quantised anything - its just that musicians generally play in time whichever era they are from. lining up the transiants and choosing the right note length works for me - also the time signature can change from bar to bar like in anything off "and justice for all" for example but the tempo will stay the same I think. Any way I am loving GP8 game changer for me a newbie to transcription trying to move away from dowloading tabs to learn songs. cheers.
Been using the audio import for a while now, massive feature, made teaching songs much more engaging and a big help for transcribing. One issue I've had is that is after importing a track, syncing it all up tempo wise once you start start transcribing, if a repeat marker is put in it doesn't compensate for that on the sync points and just adds extra bars which is annoying from the standpoint of making it a cohesive easy to read score, the only other option is to have no repeats 8 pages of tab
It's important to note that if an audio track is not perfectly consistent during repeated sections, such as verses or choruses, or if it includes a "go to coda" in the score, syncing the score with the audio throughout will be unfeasible. This is because a performer may vary the timing slightly on repeated song sections. Therefore, even if the first verse is perfectly synced, subsequent repetitions may fall out of sync. A workaround is to create a new GP8 file without any repeats or "go to coda" sections in the score. The song should be written out completely from start to finish in an uninterrupted score. This approach may extend a 3-page score to 6 or 7 pages due to the absence of repeats. However, this method ensures that once completed, the score remains in sync throughout the performance, regardless of repeated sections. As of June 2024, GP8 does not offer the feature to mark audio sections according to the number of times they are played in the score. It would be beneficial if future updates included this feature. Until then, for songs with timing variations in repeated sections, the score must be laid out in a single, continuous sequence without repeats. You are welcome. 😋
One of the best thing guitar pro 8 could add is a feature that record or write the audio file notation in the music staff while it is playing. Because when you don't have a solid music theory background it could be tough to transcribe exactly note by note on the music staff. That feature would be the best.
Also , using a backing track it would be cool if you could drag chords and scales that can be transposed onto the transcript and manipulate to taste / and arrange notes /riffs accordingly - is this possible I wonder ?
This feature alone sold me GP8 (I had been using GP6 until recently). I transcribe a lot of Old School Death Metal, and tempo-wise, it's all over the place. It used to be quite the chore to tempo map everything even half decently, lol.
Would love Guitar Pro to have automatic transcription! You play in the audio... and voila! the tab is done! :D of course, some tweaking would always need done though, but wouldn't that be awesome?

I remember back in the mid 90's when I used to go out and buy tab books, it was sooo cool, being able to learn how to play your favourite songs, or in some cases, at least *see* how they're supposed to be played 😂 Then later with software like GP, I transfered several from the books and I could actually play them back. I do! So often they were done by piano players, they could hear the notes… kind of… but a lot of the time it was notated in notation, then the tab was automated. You need to be a player, and in the mind of the person who played it to know how to finger stuff

Actually you can slow it down ! Cool
It is
@@LeviClay Yes I clocked that towards end of video .. a great learning tool
hi friends, how to make guitar fingerstyle slap technique in guitar pro? I hope you are willing to help me
Hi, I want to purchase Guitar Pro 8 but when I tried download it its giving me an error, app wont open cause its missing a file.
My biggest question is, if I purchase GP8 can I still use GP7?
yep, they're different apps
My GP7 is crashing when I export audios (MP3 and WAV). Does anyone know how to fix it?
Can Guitar Pro files be exported into a DAW like Logic, ProTools and Audio Evolution?
You can export either midi or audio and import that
Is real-time note detection from midi (note lengths) an option yet?
Never tried gp8, Can i import some tabs from paper song books like a kind of ocr and use it in the software ?
No
Great video. I don't do any transcribing , i just download tabs and load them up. I'm guessing you won't be able to download GP files with the audio included?, i'd imagine there would be copyright issues with that
Correct.
But technically speaking there are copyright issues with tabs, so I’d expect some people just just put the audio in the file anyway
Thanks for the great video. Is it possible to share files on my gp8 to iOS gp. Thanks.
Makes transcribing with ADHD easier when you don’t have to switch back and forth to Transcribe 😂 Just wish I could filter as well as Transcribe, but baby steps.
Edit: just found something I wish it could do… add multiple audio files. I transcribe worship tunes with multiple layers of the same instrument and kind of wished I could flip between them as I go. Ah well, nothing’s perfect.
How did you know it had a triplet feel?
by knowing what a triplet feel is and hearing it
I have a problem when I export .gp file to midi and load it to my DAW the time is off , example I have a GP tab that's 4:37 in length I export the midi and load it to my DAW and the file is 6:10 ! Help !!!
Midi files have no length. They are tempo dependant
@@LeviClay .gp exported midi files do look it up .
How can I transpose chords in guitar pro 8?
Very helpful.....can you compose on the bass clef with this software?
Yep
@@LeviClay awesome I'm learning the bass guitar.
I still can't do that
Hi there! Thank you for such a good videos.
Can l do the same with drum transcribing?
Yeah, I have videos on doing drums in guitar pro
@@LeviClay , thanks 👍 I will check ✔️
Before this there was.... Rockmer a great transcription program for FREE.
And before that, there was paper. Progress is awesome.
I hope thes is not the latest version cause free apps can detect tempo and pitch even along the whole song, and separate each track (drums guitar bass etc)
yes, and they're all trash. Bring able to work out the difference between vocals and drums? bravo. But software can't listen to three guitars playing and discern which guitar is which. Why? Because computers don't LISTEN.
But I'll tell you what... you stick to your free software, I'll stay over her and keep making good money doing what I do. All these silly people out here paying me 1000s a month when you can just do it for free online eh? ffs.
@@LeviClay logic converts stems for free, they sound very good too lol beat detection, pitch detection, sorry jack, your behind the times!
@@OfficialFatLip again mate, I promise you I'm not. One of us is an expert in the field, and one of us is completely unskilled and is mistaking an impression of what they can't do for the real thing. Good luck though.
@@LeviClay your certainly not the expert lol
@@OfficialFatLip dude.... my business makes 100k doing this. I'm one of the most well known for it in the world. I promise you... I'm the expert.
Good luck fools!!!
I can imagine Stevie Ray Vaughan fiddling around on the computer for 3 months to get 2 chords.
And yet.. here you are, watching and commenting. Unable to transcribe OR play like SRV 🤷
Levi, so to be clear, I can't just drag an audio file in and it will transcribe it for me? Like Melodyne for instance? I was really hoping it could do that, would have bought it immediately!! I had hoped to use it to learn the leads and bass lines in Classic tunes. I guess that ain't happening with this software? Other than hiring a guy like you with a perfect ear, how would I go about achieving that?
No. It’s not magic. Do you think there’s a magic way to do that… and yet people still pay me to do it?
@@LeviClay Wasn't expecting magic, but I thought from your video that, that's what it was doing. Because that's how it seemed in your video. Anyways, moving on....how much do you charge for your Service? For a 16 bar lead for example? Or is there a place to buy pre-made transcriptions of famous songs?
@@robjames6653 you can buy transcriptions in guitar pro’s “my songbook”, I don’t do anything that short anymore as I’ve got full albums on the go
@@LeviClay Thank you Sir......on my way!! Oh sorry, one quick question will those transcriptions from my SongBook load into Guitar Pro 8, seamlessly?
@@robjames6653 yep!
Kevin Owens t shirt 👍
and then there's me still running GP4 😅
Does guitar pro 8 have dark mode version for a dark sheet?
I’m not actually sure on that one! I’ll have a look. Though I can say you can export tabs as transparent pngs, essentially allowing you to use them on any background you’d like
@@LeviClay thanks for the fast response! that's great, it would be cool if you could use all those cool features with a fully dark mode to work late at night
has anyone noticed how badly it glitches when you use repeat markers with an audio track?
seams it happens if you add alot of extra bars after it and then do something like x20 on the repeat, it will try play it all at an insane speed
Can you open or import a mp3?
Yep - that’s what I’m doing
Eager to see the rest.
For now you still can't move grace notes and you still need Transcribe...
You don’t NEED transcribe, you CAN work in just GP. I just prefer using transcribe. And yes, you can’t move grace notes… which sucks
😎lol me too.

There’s some of you!
I learned exactly zero percent of what I wanted to learn about Guitar Pro.
Fuck...I wasted 70 bucks. Bought this cause I thought It would help me transcribe songs :( Like drop a mp3 file in load it and it would build the songs notes......doh, maybe they will refund me.
Or… you could learn!
started playing guitar in 79, music lessons on acoustic ,sheet music the whole shabang. Just never clicked, that didnt stop me tho. I have spent 40+ yrs trying to learn :) btw they did refund me @@LeviClay
