Actually, it means you finish running a circle by using exactly 8 steps. The turning of you foot by 45 degrees allows you to circle around your opponent's blind side very quickly.
Interesting to see a master of this style and see the actual movement and form. You can see the simplicity in his natural movement. To get to at this point it’s very hard work. As for the opinionated comments thinking they know better: “maybe you’ll come around” if you get my drift :))
Recently, I been experiencing many unfortunate events. The negative energy I was receiving from others or life events had really put me down. I had walked at the beach multiple times in hopes of taking the pressure off of me. One night I watched an old video from Jet Li. I was fascinated by the style he used. I decided to look it up. Until I found out, I did more research on it. Aside from the aspect of combat, it has other benefits, which I found could really lift my spirit up and reduce stress. I hope that by incorporating Bagua Zhang into my daily life, not only would my health would improve but my mood as well. It is the first martial arts system that will be introduced to me. Without further hesitation, I would do what it takes to change my life to betterment and rejuvenate the healthy and joyful state I used to have. I just purchased the bundle from your website. I will train religiously beginning today. I am happy that I have access to the books to get started. I will wait on the DVDS. I will also purchase the Bagua for beginners 2 once it is released in May. Thank you Chen Sifu for making this training available online.

No, its the other way around. Emei Bagua is ancient. Sun style was created by Sun Lutang in the early 1900s and incorporates some Bagua moves and principles.
Walking the circle with that wu shu style step is no way to train proper Pa Kua Chang alignment or coiling. If you don't learn how to step correctly (either lion or mudwalk step) then you are truly missing the forest for the trees.
@@Ymaa_Publication_Center Can't learn this from books and videos. I have a few of Dr Yang's books from years ago. No disrespect. They're wonderful but quite useless, at least to someone like me. lol.
@@Antraeus Its true, everyone learns differently. And everyone learns better with a teacher in person. But for some without a qualified teacher on the subject within miles, an instructional video can for for you as a very helpful few hours of private class in your living room to refer back to.
so Bagua Zhang uses nature, and by extention, history, repeating, to predict the future, should no actions be taken to subvert this future, if any actions can be taken, interesting
No, that would be Taekwondo, a martial art originated from Korean. Bagua Zhang is Bat Quai Chuong in Vietnames, it is one of the 3 major style in Wudang martial arts. Rough translation to English is Eight Trigram Palm (Ba = Bát = Eight, Gua = Quái = Trigram and Chưởng = Palm)
Sounds nice, but is there any evidence at all that he actually knows how to fight? Most martial arts masters can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. Forms don't cut it, we need real proof that he can actually apply the things he teaches in real-life combat.
As much as I'd love learning Bagua Zhang, I feel the DVD would not be as helpful as actually finding an actual teacher. A teacher is still the best way to learn. With that being the case, at least a teacher can not only answer questions, but can also correct any incorrect movements and hand/body/footwork errors. Don't get me wrong. A DVD is great for having someone introduced to the practice, but it has its limitations.
YES. This is true of all martial arts. But most people don't have a qualified teacher within 50 miles. So, we make our videos extremely detailed with instructions you can actually learn from, taught by the best teachers in the world.
In real fights The spining shpuld be used like kentic linkage in boxing .and only at the proper time .and not like a flashy dance moving without purpose .
Upper body angle is insufficient. Rear heel lifts, and foot turns which is a sport Bagua modification. If the master was European, all this would be immediately obvious.
Actually, you might be surprised to learn that Master Chenhan is now president of Shou-Yu Liang Kung Fu school. GM Liang learned this Bagua during childhood growing up on Emei mountain where the form was originally created, being taught by his grandfather, one of the earliest legendary martial art masters who taught and popularized Baguazhang. So...yeah.
I wouldn't say watered down, but it seems to me that all Liang guys are "disconected", for lack of a better word. It's like pure dance, only"form"; the movements are correct I guess but you don't feel this monolithic power you see in the old guys. Compare the Liang performances with a guy a like Bai Yucai, it's looks like a different martial art togheter, or tbe more precise, Bai Yucai's looks like a martial art, this looks like dance or gymnastics.
