Currently an External 4 TB HDD. Western Digital brand. It’s good enough for all my PS4 games. I’ll probably just buy a big SSD for my PS5 for using it internally.
@@BryanTechCorner mine filled up within days! 😂 I had a lot of PS4 games on it so I just moved them to my external drive. I really want a 4 TB SSD but am hesitant to spend $600 to $700 for it.

Very useful video and I just bought 2 Samsung hard drives for ps5 and ps4. 2 TB each and 4 TB will be enough I hope. Sony keep on giving small storage for their ps4 and ps5 consoles as launch ps4 had a huge 500GB which sony knew its too small then ps4 pro 1 TB but even that's not enough. Ps5 is a great console but it's weakest point is it's small storage. It annoys me that Sony are forcing gamers to pay their storage when Sony should be doing it. If ps6 comes with small storage then I'm not buying it.
Yeah you have a good point. Games are not going to get any smaller. I see this being a problem because everything is so expensive and console have always been a reasonable price. Will see if things change.

It will work. Not sure how long the videos you are going to make. The best way to record gameplay with a capture card. Like elgatos hd 60s. That’s what I use to record longer videos.
try to format the HDD on your PC. look - maybe - at invisible partitions. from 4 To to 980 mo .. there is a problem !! Or..... you bought a fake Seagate HDD... I'm sorry for you !!

@@HoodieDime start with your ps5. Go to storage and see if there is anything under usb extended storage. If there is you can look for the three dots to reformat as Exfat file. If not you can do it through the computer but its a bit more complicated
Can you plug an external hard drive into usb type c port for ps5 and also have one in usb type a port on the back and transfer a copy of one hard drive to another
@@BryanTechCorner ps5 keeps saying you can't have more.than one damn external at once which makes me very hesitant about my 3.5 tb If I plug the empty one in first it will show that one or vice versa but either way I want a copy do you know if the internal called console storage on the ps5 is able to copy game data

I wanted to up grade to the 2TB WD My Passport external drive but now the shops here in Thailand, JIB and BananaIT, are telling me these are only for the PC? What has changed since last year? 🤔🤔🤔 Thank you for any advice and ideas.
If it has a USB port you should be able to plug it into your PlayStation and re format the drive. Most drives will work with both pc and PlayStation. Not sure when they are saying it only works with pc.

YES, I'm doing it right now ! As usual : the system will install PS5 .. on the internal SSD and all the PS4 games, on the external HDD (if you don't change options...). My advice : if you are playing "action" games like uncharted, infamous, ... from PS4 era, try to transfer the game into the SSD of the PS5 : quicker access data and loading !! But the external mechanical HDD is a good way to "stock" our PS4 games.

I used the cable that came with the external hard drive which is USB type A. Never heard of an error message like that one.
when i go to format the extended usb storage it says ill loose everything does that mean i can redownload my games or what does this mean
When you reformat you can lose games but you can redownload them if its on the cloud or the console itself.

exFat files are the good because there are not any restrictions. I would try to reformat it through PlayStation settings

Yes reformat it to exFat. Then you should be all set to start putting everything on the drive.

Once you have the ps5 game downloaded go to your game you want to move in the game library. Hit the option button and you select move games and apps.
