I'm really happy with this wave. I immediately need about 3 more Orcs for sure. DST should just release a box set of 3-5 orcs, because they also had an alternate head with hair, the shield, etc. Aragorn is a huge step up from the limited articulation for Legolas. I'm hoping they revisit Legolas from one of the movies with archer-worthy articulation.
Nice review and comparisons Thanks. Would have been good if the Orc came with an extra scowling head (with hair), as originally revealed a while back. Perfect army builder.
Hi, nice review. Indeed toybiz made this version of Aragorn with gauntlets, trench coat and cape. Check for the Aragorn & Brego deluxe horse and rider set from the two towers.
Aragorn indeed was done with the gauntlets and trench coat in the Toy Biz line. It's in a Two Towers deluxe package that comes with his horse Brego. He also comes with a cloth cape.
Did anyone else receive a Sauron mace with a warped shaft included with your Moria Orc? I was thinking I did it, even though I'm always careful to cut figs and weapons out of the plastic-- wired in or no, but looks like this has happened to a few reviewers on UA-cam. Hair drier mixed with straightening the thing doesn't seem to be doing the trick, so I suppose I'll buy another Moria orc or two to try my luck with maces.
I just finished collecting the 3rd set to finish the baf. But I do have to say I'm sold on diamond select doing lotr . For the most part they do go well with mythic legion figures
That was my one complaint that the DS sauron didnt have the engravings, my favorite thing about saurons design actually get all up close and personal and dudes covered in fine art. I can also promise you that saurons helmet does have kinda a beak to it, you should check the 1/4 scale replica.
Nice review and comparison to the Toybiz figures. I hope Diamond Select starts producing these figures at a faster rate so interest interest in the line doesn't drop before they finish the fellowship, at least.
Of all the Toy Biz figures, Aragorn is the one that needed an update the most. As a kid, I actually passed on getting an Aragorn because all of his figures just looked terrible. Legolas was the best of the Toy Biz line, at least as far as the fellowship is concerned, and ironically I think he's the worst of this line. Seeing this Aragorn standing next to the Toy Biz Legolas really makes me happy.
Yes, Aragorn looked pretty crazy in some instances and just nothing at all like him in others! I thought the one with the glowing torch was alright, but the glowing torch feature really limits what you can do with him.
I’m gonna add my Strider’s sword slashing figure cloak awesome review 😎 also I think diamond select went for inspiration from Fellowship of the Ring& Return of the king adding Anduril (path of the dead sequence love it tho disappointing is that he’s bow and quiver is missing just like the way Legolas is missing he’s knives.
Yes! 1) Legolas has the right arm and leg, 2) Gimli the Head, 3) Nazgul the hips, 4) Frodo the upper torso and cape, Aragorn the left arm and leg, and the 6) Moria Orc has the mace.
HI, can you please tell me what part of Sauron was in pack of Moria Orc? I can see from only packaging that the mace was in it, which package had the shoulder pads?. Unfortunately the moria orc is not available here, I already have Gimli, Legolas, and planning on buying Aragorn, the Ringwraith and Frodo, but if some critical part of Sauron is missing, then I'll think over it. Nevertheless the head sculpts are pretty effing great I must tell you, much better for Aragorn and Frodo then on the prototypes, I really did not like them, but these are perfect. The review is awesome, thank you for showing them!! :)
The Moria Orc just comes with the mace, that’s it. The shoulder pads come with the upper torso that comes with the Nazgul. They just fall off really easily so they seem like separate parts, but they’re not. I imagine many people are going to army build the Moria Orc, so there’s sure to be many Sauron maces up for sale on eBay soon.
True, but if you see the figure it’s the same height as Frodo...I don’t think of women as being Hobbit height. As you state they should be shorter I’m just saying not that short.
You’re right, I should’ve said “roughly” the same height. I guess when I watch the movie I feel like the Moria Orcs should be short, but closer in height to humans than hobbits, but the Diamond Select Moria Orcs are the same height as Gimli which in my mind is too close to Hobbit size. It’s really hard to gauge because the Moria Orcs are all crouching or moving quickly. I wonder if my problem is actually that the humans and Legolas are too tall- because I have the same problem with the Diamond Select Uruk Hai who I think is too short as well. I’m going to have to dig around to see if I can find some behind the scenes footage that will settle this for me.
Is that the talking Sauron? The talking one is larger I believe. Diamond Select looks too gangly. IMO Toybiz is easily superior. No hate to Diamond Select
At 14:12, that is the talking electronic TOYBIZ Sauron on the left. He is larger than an ordinary figure by a bit, but still shorter than the Diamond Select on the right. I gotta say in person they are both pretty impressive- I can see what you mean by the Diamond one being gangly, but I think if it was posed more naturally than just having his arms at his sides, it would look just right.
@@noskillcustoms I would definitely look into Diamond Select. The thing is I'm currently invested in Toybiz with quite an expansive collection. Also some POTC figures. Also comic books lol
With the Aragorn figure, it's one of those rare cases where the final head sculpt is better than the prototype pictures.
I feel like the same is true for Frodo, too!
If you have the Star Ace Aragorn, you can use the cape from that and use it for the Diamond Select one. The figures are about the same size
Dude, that’s a great idea, but pretty “pricey”

I couldn’t agree more! All your points are right on!
Nice review and comparisons Thanks. Would have been good if the Orc came with an extra scowling head (with hair), as originally revealed a while back. Perfect army builder.
Yes! I forgot all about that!
Hi, nice review. Indeed toybiz made this version of Aragorn with gauntlets, trench coat and cape. Check for the Aragorn & Brego deluxe horse and rider set from the two towers.
I have Brego, I don’t know what happened to my Aragorn, because now that you mention it I know I had that figure!
Aragorn indeed was done with the gauntlets and trench coat in the Toy Biz line. It's in a Two Towers deluxe package that comes with his horse Brego. He also comes with a cloth cape.
You’re right! I know I had that figure but I don’t know what I did with it! I might have sold it by accident!😟
The Toybiz Orcs were way too gigantic lol. I still loved that line, though, lots of fond memories
Maybe a little too big, but I still love them!
Did anyone else receive a Sauron mace with a warped shaft included with your Moria Orc? I army-built Moria Orcs, and one mace was decent, but the others were curved- not the worst, but noticeable.
I just finished collecting the 3rd set to finish the baf. But I do have to say I'm sold on diamond select doing lotr . For the most part they do go well with mythic legion figures
Each wave has been better than the last! The lack of capes does drive me nuts, though!

Agreed! I feel like the toys should honor the craft and detail that went into the film, and TOYBIZ already proved it was possible!
Nice review and comparison to the Toybiz figures. I hope Diamond Select starts producing these figures at a faster rate so interest interest in the line doesn't drop before they finish the fellowship, at least.
You’d really think they could make like 12 figures a year, no problem…but lately it’s just been crickets!
Of all the Toy Biz figures, Aragorn is the one that needed an update the most. As a kid, I actually passed on getting an Aragorn because all of his figures just looked terrible. My Left hand was also loose. I just pushed the hand back into the arm and it fixed the loose hand.
Thanks! I tried and it didn’t work for me, I’ll think of something though.
Hope we get an isildur figures now
Yeah, that’d be cool, maybe even some prologue elves!
holy crap thanks for the Sauron cape tip xD
Thank you for the detailed commentary. Your opinion is helpful.:)
Textures in Toybiz one is unmatched it is a piece of art even if the proportions are a bit wrong. Nevertheless I would buy both of them
If only the sculptors of the Diamond Select one had paid closer attention- it could’ve been the winner for sure!

That’s a perfect choice for the cloak! I still think he’s great, but the omission of the bow & quiver was disappointing for sure.
I will get a toybiz witch king figure today
So soon we will get the Uruk-hai , hope he won't be too big compared to the ToyBiz figures. I got this orc to be my troll handler.
So how many figures are needed for Sauron only 6??
Yes! 1) Legolas has the right arm and leg, 2) Gimli the Head, 3) Nazgul the hips, 4) Frodo the upper torso and cape, Aragorn the left arm and leg, and the 6) Moria Orc has the mace.

@@noskillcustoms thank you so much for the reply, Iam humbled. :) wish you great success with your channel.
What in the world will Gandolf come with???
I couldn’t find a packaged shot, but he will not have a Build-A-Figure part. He does appear to have his staff and sword.
The Moria orcs in LOTR: FOTR are all played by women who are on average allot shorter then men.
True, but if you see the figure it’s the same height as Frodo...I don’t think of women as being Hobbit height. As you state they should be shorter I’m just saying not that short.
@@noskillcustoms Really? Because my Diamond select Moria Orc sure is taller then my Diamond select Frodo. Although admittedly not by much.
