Took me ages to find cave sulphur too.
Best advice is - scan everything, and read what the databank says about it. So much information....
I would love to see the uncut version of this gameplay. The struggle to get going :D
@alfandreasstrayrambo I think the raw footage was about 2 hours, alot of it was just me silently swimming around 😅
@@victoriaspongecake2 Nothing swimming around i did ALOT of it, played this in early access back in 2018-2019...
Your PDA is google for this game. It just doesn't have google maps. Scan everything and read up on it. Reading that the creepvine is edible could have saved you. The only other advice I'll give is to build every single item in the game and use it. Thanks! Good luck!

I wish it had some kind of map mode that would cartograph the place as you went, or developed a scanner to do that
I love to watch new playthroughs of subnautica. I absolutely love this game. And it's so great to see it played differently. Amazing video Victoria. Also it was shocking that you don't have deep thalassophobia.

One tipp: You swim faster when your hands are empty.
To switch batteries in the tool you're holding press R, then you can switch the battery.
PS: If you die and loose stuff you can recover it at the location of your death - the items do not despawn.

I've posted this comment on every video I've ever seen of people's first time, so here we go again. Most games just say no when you try to do something. Subnautica says yes. If you can squeeze it, if you can bull shit it, they let you do it. So I hope you continue on. Because it's going to be a hell of a ride. And one that will ACTIVELY REWARD YOU, for using your imagination. So have fun, good luck, and live the journey! ❤

scan and read everything
I should mention in case you weren’t aware, Subnautica has no auto save, so save the game before you do anything risky! Back in the day when the game wasn’t as stable as it is now, I lost many hours of gameplay from it crashing without me saving. It doesn’t crash much these days, but better safe than sorry!

I've only played Subnautica Below Zero. This looks very very similar and just as fun.

I think if you want to charge your items you need a battery in your inventory and press "R". If it doesnt, try to right click on the battery from your inventory.

Yes, you can press R to remove or replace a battery in any tool. Which means if you are out exploring and your flashlight runs out, you can always borrow a battery from another tool. ;)
I’ve loved this game since it was in beta. And I love watching first play throughs and I look forward to following you on your Subnautica journey!
After you finish the game, you should check out some of the early beta play throughs to see how far the game evolved to its current finished form. You can also check out Subnautica Below Zero - sort of a continuation of the storyline.
Also, the devs are currently hard at work on a new Subnautica 2 (they don’t consider Below Zero as number 2, lol) so lots to look forward to!

Since this is a blind playthrough: Do NOT, for your own sake, pick up any time capsules. Many contain heavy spoilers.
I had my first playthrough of Subnautica completely ruined by a time capsule I picked up in the early game. I didn't know what they were, and didn't know to avoid them. And now I can never get the experience of playing unspoiled Subnautica back.
Ohh okay thankyou! I find one in a session I played the other day but luckily nothing crazy was in it, so might avoid them for now from now on!
