I would like to thank you. I learned from you what I did not learn from professionals. This is because you and I are new to using this vehicle and have never driven a motorcycle. Thank you very much.
You are so welcome! I actually had to throw in the towel and install a short reach handlebar after-all. After I made this video, I took an even longer ride and my back still hurt. The new handlebars are much better for me but I still need to test them by driving to Rhode Island again
I live in Australia where we drive on the other side of the road which means you would have to reverse these things. When turning right it is usually a full 90 degree turn so you need to lean your body forward and to the right to counter the force that wants to push you left and back on the seat. Turn your head fully in the direction you want to go. Equally push with your left hand pull with the right - do both gently. Now if you're turning left the camber of the road and the fact that you don't always make a full 90 degree turn means you do the same things but to a lesser extent. The bike will go left with a gentle push on the right hand and pull on the left and you'll need to lean to the left but not as much as you would turning right. I don't know if your machine has cruise control - mine does and I encourage you to use it whenever you can so then you're only needing to concentrate on the steering - you can relax the grip of death. I had come from riding two wheelers and I still have a two wheeler but at the moment I'm riding the Spyder the most so I had to learn these skills and forget what I knew about riding a two-wheeler. I have to do all the leaning since the bike can't lean. Mine is a 2012 Spyder RT Ltd.
I totally agree with you, now I'm learning to use both arms to steer and lean. I ended up getting the short reach handlebars and they help, but I'm still favoriting one side as I steer. It's my upper back and shoulders now that hurt. I'm trying to relax them as much as possible, like I'm carrying heavy suitcases, I just have to let them hang. I had no idea this would be an issue. My biggest fear was driving with no "cage" around me but I'm not at all worried about that anymore, it's more about making sure my back don't hurt. And I do have a "grip of death" that I'm constantly correcting myself as I see myself doing it. I haven't integrated the cruise control yet but I'm sure I will on the really long rides. Thanks for the comment!
@@vagabondmel The best advice you'll be given is relax. As you become more confident riding the Spyder you'll be more relaxed and then hopefully the pain of the grip of death will lessen. I feel very safe on my Spyder but I know I'm more vulnerable than in my car. The one thing we k ow is that any machine is only as good as the "nut behind the wheel/bars." Ride to your own abilities and to the conditions weather and road. Have fun and be safe!
You can get an 2” extension for your brake pedal , I have it on mine for my wife to be able to reach it. Easy to fit just remove the bolt & pedal add extension & refit using longer bolt provided. Regards Stephen Alberta Canada.
Sometimes board members get kickbacks from contractors. So they pay nothing. Make sure they get 3 quotes from different contractors. The siding might be needed, but it can also be painted. And sometimes only the south side needs it. You might want to talk to a contractor and even get a bid and submit it to the board… The parking lot could wait for sure…. PLUS … these sound like maintenance items and your HOA fees should cover it…
I just got an email from the HOA and they say we should hear a verdict sometime today. I didn't know about those kickbacks, thanks for the heads up! The parking lot looks fine to me, no pot holes, just a few cracks here and there. I also received an email yesterday that most of the board members are stepping down, which I'm confused about. They didn't give us quotes from other contractors. I think the majority of us put up a real stink and that's why they're stepping down, but we'll see. I'll keep you posted.
you only live once, do not regret getting your trike...last year i had a stroke and realized life can change in a heart beat.. after my recovery, i traded my adventure bike for my ryker and had to put 2,000 down on it to get it. sometimes i wonder why i did it and wonder how much better financially i would be with that 2 grand more in my bank... , but then i ride my trike and love every second of it more than i ever did my 2 wheel bike. life is too short to 2nd guess...it sucks that this is happening to you, i would rather have a bear chew my arm off than live with an HOA...lol Hope it works out for you.
Thanks Frank! I still don't know the verdict yet. They say September 20th they will tally the votes and today is the 19th, so we'll see. Either way, no regrets.

@@rogersmith5371thanks Roger 😊 I sure wish I can live in Australia for the next 4 years. Pray for us Americans 🙏

Thanks Stephen from Alberta :)
Your video just came up today. So what happened with your HOA on your $30K special assignment?
I'll know in 8 more days. It won't be the end of the world but it'll set me back at least 6 months. I'll have to put off my epic cross-country trip
