Each time Chris sang this song, I was moved to tears. When I pressed play, I expected dry eyes. I was so wrong. She killed it. Her singing this song was simply fantastic.
Sorry, wait no I'm not sorry. Remember this is a spoiled brat pop singer who's dad wrote "achey breaky heart." This is a kick in the teeth to one of my favorite songs. What's next, is Bon Jovi going to sing 'they call me a dog?' F# this.
The first prechorus, "He came from an island, and then he died in the street"- on through is the hands down best attempt at ANYTHING Chris Cornell I've ever heard. I agree the fact Temple allowed this speaks volumes
To be honest I was never a fan of her. But wow!!! Every since I first heard it I couldn't get it out of my head. Makes me feel emotional. I've watched 200 times Where can I buy this track! If she did a full album like this she could be the next big thing in Rock. Just awesome.
When I first saw the title. I thought "Miley Cyrus, what the heck?" But man. She can totally sing perfectly this classic by Cornell. She totally nailed it.

Wow. I haven't been a hater, but did not expect to be so impressed. She absolutely nails this. She's a pro. Its cool to see how Chris's music was recognized, and felt by so many.
As someone who became a Miley fan late in life, I can honestly say that she is an incredibly talented vocalist and song writer. It’s a shame she doesn’t get the credit she deserves.
Sure, it's easy for us "purist rock and metal heads" to slam on Miley but if you think about it for a minute, this woman could have lived her entire life on Achy Breaky money and fame, never mind the Hannah Montana money and fame. Then she worked to step outside the Billy Ray and Hannah Montana shadow and became a recognizable pop star. Maybe not my cup of tea but I can definitely respect that. THEN, she shows up at the Chris Cornell tribute show and knocks it out of the park by delivering one of the best performances of the evening? Fuck Yeah Miley, Fuck Yeah
I still listen to 80’s and 90’s rock every day, I came across Miley doing Nothing else matters and then this and couldn’t believe how awesome she can sing! No one else could even come close to this, now I hope she comes out with a rock album, her voice is meant for rock!

She is a great artist, people misunderstands her because of how she acted on stage before but it's not your fault though. And now that you've seen this, I hope you wouldn't doubt her as an artist anymore. :)
Man, i'm a huge fan of CC songs and I have to say, She surprises me, She could have choose more commercial songs, like a stone, black hole sun, be yourself, etc... But she choose one of the most beautiful songs by TOTD, She paid two tributes, for Chris Cornell and your best friend, Andrew Wood. About the performance, powerful!!! Absolutely amazing and i'm not fan of pop singers, but she really nailed it!
I was there and her rendition of this song was probably the best out of all the other tributes by the artists. I personally also really enjoyed Dave grohl singing “show me how to live”. I think those two were the most memorable.
THIS (my Ladies & Gentleman) was a CLUTCH-Performance!! She absolutly delivered, right on the spot! In this 6 minutes she grew from a disney-teenager to an artist. She definitely earned the respect of the crowd there (you can see how sceptical they where at the beginning..). Awesome performance!!!
I can't hate on Miley anymore. She has an amazing voice, and did a great job on this. I saw her live on TV recently (some benefit concert or awards show) and thought, wow, she does have an amazing voice. Hammered it home here. Wouldn't mind hearing her do more stuff like this.
I was there last night and when she came on stage people around we're like "uhh ok". Then she started belting out and my mouth dropped in shock. She put everything into her singing and people will be talking about this moment for years.
So much weight behind this song on so many levels. I'm not sure what I was expecting here. For her to match that emotion of the song and really let it go... wow I just don't know what to say. Literally speechless.

You hit it on the head. That's pretty much all I really take from this. I guess people hearing something I don't. I think she did an okay job, I don't think she has the strongest voice, I think she did all right and I give her props for being there. I think the guys had her there for that exact reason. She's not my cup of tea I think it would have been cooler to even have somebody like Joss Stone or Jennifer Hudson do it. And I think they would have absolutely crushed it Way Beyond this. Saw all these comparisons to Stevie Nicks voice in the comments, that being said, Stevie Nicks is a hell of a songwriter, but that's another person who I just don't think has a really great voice. I will say I think Miley Cyrus has better range then Stevie Nicks, but I get the comparison.
@@EMarrs42 I thought the same thing about her performance. She doesn't have the upper register vocally so she turned it into distorted rasps (hence the Joplin comparisons in the comments to go along with the Stevie comments). This goes to show how much influence the industry has on artists. We are spoon-fed a microcosm of their talents and mistake that for their entire repertoire. Awesome job...badass depth and grit in the vocals.
Joey Diaz was right, I'm not a fan of Miley but was a huge fan of Chris and this is amazing, reminds me of Janis, I'm seriously in tears...
S Crosmun never noticed she sounded like Janis. But I definitely hear it
Been a fan for a minute. She kills all her covers.
I'm not familiar with Josey Diaz, what did she say that was so true?
she has a new song called Midnight Sky and its an 80s inspired song, you should check it out.
She put every ounce of herself into this vocal. Amazing
Each time Chris sang this song, I was moved to tears. When I pressed play, I expected dry eyes. I was so wrong. She killed it. Her singing this song was simply fantastic.
I get chills
Yeah, she got me too.
Same... She did a great job. RIP chris 😥🙏👍
Same. One of my all time favorites.
Sorry, wait no I'm not sorry.
Remember this is a spoiled brat pop singer who's dad wrote "achey breaky heart." This is a kick in the teeth to one of my favorite songs. What's next, is Bon Jovi going to sing 'they call me a dog?'
F# this.
The first prechorus, "He came from an island, and then he died in the street"- on through is the hands down best attempt at ANYTHING Chris Cornell I've ever heard. I agree the fact Temple allowed this speaks volumes
The song came right through her soul....am i the only one who cried a little???
No I cry with you
I totally cried…very unexpected. Those high notes hit right in my soul.
Nope , me too . Every time I listen to it . Absolutely beautiful . Rock on Miley ❤️
Only a little? I was bawling
she absolutely killed it, she put everything into that song,
I avoided this for days for reasons....but holy shit was I wrong, that brought tears to my eyes. Good shit Miley.
I can't believe that she just sang this song and did it justice!!
To be honest I was never a fan of her. But wow!!! Every since I first heard it I couldn't get it out of my head. Makes me feel emotional. I've watched 200 times Where can I buy this track! If she did a full album like this she could be the next big thing in Rock. Just awesome.
Leasyn I will care of you is great cover as well by her
Check out her last album Plastic Hearts it’s a rock album with a lot of rock legend cameos. Joan Jett, Billy Idol, Taylor Hawkins
It’s obvious no one can sing like the great Chris Cornell. But it’s by far the best tribute I’ve heard so far. Good job Miley 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Miley should do a Rock album
You should listen a couple of rock covers that she made, "ill take care of you" and "baby, im gonna leave you"
@@juanavictoria8163 Thanks will do sweet
Michael Tester - OH PLEASE GOD NO!!!
@@lorenp505 better then her pop lol
Michael Tester - everything is better than her...
When I first saw the title. I thought "Miley Cyrus, what the heck?"
But man. She can totally sing perfectly this classic by Cornell. She totally nailed it.
Well...... i wanted to hate this because i feel that there are some songs that need to be left alone. But damnit she knocked this out of the park. Damn good job girl.
Yep I saw her in concert with my daughter and said wow what a voice. Now she's proved it to the world of rock. Thanks Miley.
Holy shit!!! She killed it. Big balls to come on stage and sing a CC song live particularly this song.
Miley Cyrus has a new song called Midnight Sky and its an 80s inspired song, you guys should check it out. It's a banger.
This song has so much meaning to me and I’m so glad she gave it her best, RIP Chris Cornell!
she has a new song called Midnight Sky and its an 80s inspired song, you should check it out.
Wow. I haven't been a hater, but did not expect to be so impressed. She absolutely nails this. She's a pro. Its cool to see how Chris's music was recognized, and felt by so many.
If she released an album in this vein I'd buy it
As someone who became a Miley fan late in life, I can honestly say that she is an incredibly talented vocalist and song writer. It’s a shame she doesn’t get the credit she deserves.
She did the song justice...missing him still.
3:37, the exact moment the crowd accepted Miley. And well deserved. You have a new fan after this performance, young lady.
Seriously, when I read about this cover tribute I had my doubts, but she came out of that bridge like a champ.
Apostrophe Catastrophe Im thinking you are just ignorant
Miley have a Damnnnnn performance, not only on this music
@@hianaumahatia2766 you're*
From Holland: this woman is one of the best voices ever!
She Silenced an entire Arena. She did this at 26 years now old… 👀👏🏾
I would definitely listen to more Miley If she did a grunge rock album! She killed it!
Not necessarily grunge, but she's working on her rock stuff right now!!! her new single midnight sky was inspired by stevie nicks' edge of seventeen.
If you are a true lover of music you recognize the talent, even if it's not your bag! Many artists I don't care for but respect the hell out of them
I still listen to 80’s and 90’s rock every day, I came across Miley doing Nothing else matters and then this and couldn’t believe how awesome she can sing! No one else could even come close to this, now I hope she comes out with a rock album, her voice is meant for rock!
Finally people are seeing Miley’s talent! At such a young age! She’s hit every genre right where it’s loved most! And being a Chris Cornell fan I knew she would rock this out! I can’t believe people have such a hard time seeing through to the good artists and Miley truly is one with a good heart too❤️ way to go Miley!!
As a huge Miley fan, this is nothing new to us. She did some great covers ever since she started singing and her latest No Tears Left To Cry cover is just simply amazing. She is a great artist, people misunderstands her because of how she acted on stage before but it's not your fault though. And now that you've seen this, I hope you wouldn't doubt her as an artist anymore. :)
She did a duet with Billy Idol that was killer also!! She has rock and roll in her soul! I think shes great!!
Billy Idol is on her new album along with Joan Jett and Stevie!
@coyotewarchild I respect yr opinion, bro
@MorbidManMusic Maybe...
@@user-od6jn2wv3u i'm agree, Ana.
I was there and her rendition of this song was probably the best out of all the other tributes by the artists.
I personally also really enjoyed Dave grohl singing “show me how to live”. I think those two were the most memorable.
I agree. Those two put in the songs all they got, and it can be easily heard
100% agree
Chris was the best modern singer arguably. And anyone who can hold a candle to his vocals is a respectable singer.
Queen of Versatility! lover her so much
She wailed and I knew she would, I already knew she is a Hell of a vocalist. Way to go Miley
She really hit a home run here. Great cover/tribute.
luv u
Lmao, what a joke.
Sooooo. You gonna do Best to Worst Soundgarden now? (Love your channel)
Yeah...I’d go so far as to say she really came in like a wrecking ball
@@trippseven shut up
Didn't think I'd be in tears watching this. Miley def nailed it and wanted to see more.
You could hear the skepticism in the crowd’s reaction after Stone introduced her, but every single person became a Miley fan after that performance!!
That 2nd verse... goddamn, girl. Not a Miley fan but you can't deny she killed that song. Respect.
You can tell the audience wasn't that excited to listen to Miley doing a totd song in the beginning but at the end she won them over 💖 killer voice!
"Thank You, Miley Cyrus, that was fucking great, thank you!" -- Stone Gossard
Her voice has always been 🔥 people were always just distracted by behavior. I’m glad people are coming around because she really is phenomenal
My favourite Temple of the Dog track. My favourite Chris Cornell vocal. Respect to anyone that does this song justice. Miley nailed it
THIS (my Ladies & Gentleman) was a CLUTCH-Performance!!
She absolutly delivered, right on the spot!
In this 6 minutes she grew from a disney-teenager to an artist.
She definitely earned the respect of the crowd there (you can see how sceptical they where at the beginning..).
Awesome performance!!!
One of the greatest live performances ever by any artist in any genre of any era !!!!!
I can't hate on Miley anymore. She has an amazing voice, and did a great job on this. I saw her live on TV recently (some benefit concert or awards show) and thought, wow, she does have an amazing voice. Hammered it home here. Wouldn't mind hearing her do more stuff like this.
so why did you hate on her before?
this was amazing. Miley Cyrus was just reborn in my mind. wow.
I was there last night and when she came on stage people around we're like "uhh ok". Then she started belting out and my mouth dropped in shock. She put everything into her singing and people will be talking about this moment for years.
Dude Im So Jelly..Top 10 Rock Tribute Of All Time!!! Congrats Miley You Just Made History!!
Miley a beast.
So much weight behind this song on so many levels. I'm not sure what I was expecting here. For her to match that emotion of the song and really let it go... wow I just don't know what to say. Literally speechless.
I was so ready to be mad at this, but I got chills at every chorus. Simply fantastic
Emotional. She’s incredible.
Can't deny I'm impressed
Always coming bck here... Quuueeennn Miley tnx for this perf.
Double wow, I have never been a fan of Miley but man she knocked it out of the park. Girl's got some pipes!
Say what you will about her, but she took the time to come show respect for Chris. Very cool.
This is really good. 98%
I just now fell in love with her
Way way better than expected! Great performance
Sounds better than I expected. Miss you CC..
*Dirty cop Mueller, you're fired.*
Nah, anyone who knows Miley knows she can sing like this. She nailed it.
man..... I changed the way i think about Miley... couldn't believe, she made me tear up. you earned my RESPECT Miley Cyrus. will never be judging you again.
Jan Kristian Paulin thats good to know! people hate her when she’s quite... amazing!
My god..i can watch this over and over…she’s amazing and i love that she just kicks the crowds ass going from nah to whoo…i love it!
Miley Cyrus has always been the shit and unapologetically herself. Glad to see people realizing this. Check out her Backyard Sessions and other classic covers if you loved this. She's also one of the most charitable celebrities in the world. She's an absolute legend. Amazing in every way. RIP Chris
Hannah Crummett Jolene is one of my favorite covers from Backyard Sessions, she’s one of a kind, can do different genres of music. Haters are just haters.
@@eloisapantazis6232 her Courtney Love cover is my current favorite. They just get better and better. Not even a year after this performance she's got an album with Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie. She's a legend.
Trust me if you ever been a Miley Cyrus fan this won't be surprising to u trust meee!!! She always had been a great singer and improved by the years I will and always loved her since day one
Yeah it was no surprise to me that she can wail.
her cover of wildflowers from Petty that she did on Stern was awesome, too.
To those who may be wondering Miley just released a rock album like 3 weeks ago.
She's killing it.
I hate it that Chris is gone, and I listen to tons of covers & tributes to him. So far, I’ve hated all of them - except this one. I wasn’t surprised she sang well - she’s got pipes - but I was surprised that she so absolutely killed it. Awesome job, Miley (on the one-in-a-billion chance you read this comment, lol). RIP, Chris; someone finally did you justice.
macleadg Nora Jones Black Hole Sun?
Living colour..... Blow up the outside. Your welcome
This cover meant everything ❤️
Most people who know Chris Cornell's music are age 35-55. Whether you love or hate Miley on this, it helps to expose a whole new generation to Chris' art. I'm sure that's what Jeff and Matt were thinking...
It gave it a bit of oomph but couldn't really do justice to one of my top-10 all time songs.
@@EMarrs42 Exactly Joss Stone is someone else they should have considered, sorry I don't hate Miley but letting her sing this was a dick move and kind of insulting to the fans for the most part. They should have let her sing a song from one of the Soundgarden albums or even one of his solo songs. I mean was she really familiar with this album to begin with except for Hunger Strike? Starting to have my doubts!
Fuck Them. # Justice for Chris Cornell.
@@adamw116 man people are such snobs with music. get a life dude its just music. i thought the song sounded pretty good. chris cornell was just a regular dude not some demi god.
