I appreciate the review. I can't see how you can say the two are "comparable" when the mevo+ shows consistently less carry than the the X3. Hard to know, if you only have this review, where the accuracy really is.
The mevo+ doesn't follow the entire flight of the ball, even outside, whereas the X3 does. Flightscope won't say how far it tracks it, says it's proprietary info (that's what they said on one of their videos). So environmental factors like wind, temperature, humidity, and altitude can affect the outcome. The mevo+ does allow you specify most, if not all of those items, but if you don't have it set correctly, you can get different numbers than the actual flight as read by X3. I recently got the regular mevo and have the mevo+ on order. I'm a 1 handicap and found the mevo to be accurate as long as you understand what it's doing exactly. Ball speed it gets very well...but range balls can (and do) vary widely and even a brand new range ball will have less speed than your premium ball, so the range isn't a great place to find your on course numbers. The carry number it comes up with is calculated, not measured. On the regular mevo you can put in altitude (I'm at 5000 feet in Colorado), but doesn't allow me to say whether it's 50 degrees or 100...both temperatures I play in at different times of the year and can easily be a full club or more difference. The regular mevo will read the same in both temperatures (assuming all else being equal like ball speed). I believe it just assumes like 77 degrees and moderate humidity. Not sure if the mevo+ has a wind setting but that can be difficult to match exactly anyways.
@@JRM8047 Hi Jason, would you recommend the Mevo for mid-handicapper? would i get much more with Mevo+. I was not sure as iIve seen mixed reviews on the mevo results ... let me know - thanks for this!
@@genevafrench what are your primary reasons for wanting either? The mevo+ is much more capable and can be used as a simulator, which is a big deal for many, myself included, but costs 4x as much so it depends on what you want out of it. @@JRM8047 Thanks - I know i'm going to be " locked down" for few weeks (months) in France; and i want to practice indoor. Hi Steve! Love to see the Mevo+ has landed in European hands:) But I would love to see some of the numbers from the mevo+ compared to the x3. I also heard you say it read 150 yards when your x3 gave you 169 yards? all the videos I have seen in the US has shown the Mevo+ being a lot more accurate than that? Could you please do a video where you might go through your bag and share the comparing numbers? (spin, AOA, carry, ETC) Thank you so much for making the video. I will subscribe and hope for more Mevo+ videos.
The X3 tracks the ball all the way until it lands. His range is a lot downhill which is causing the longer carry distance. The x3 read the ball speed at 119 and the mevo+ the same. The club speed was 90 on both devices. So it is really accurate infact. I received mine (I live in Finland) last week and so far I've been very impressed with it. The data is really accurate as I have compared the numbers to what I get from trackman.
@@konstamattsson That is brilliant!! Thank you for your answer. Would you like to do a video showing your findings? I think a lot of people would really appreciate it! I have ordered a M+ 10 days ago, but now it takes 8 weeks which is a bummer.
Thank you for the review, however is it possible for you to track with the three devices at the same time so that its an accurate comparison? Unless you're a robot there will be differences in every shot you hit. In other words you aren't really comparing them fairly unless they are tracking the same shot. If they were indeed tracking the same shot then for future reference please show a visual of all 3 screens after each shot as this would allow golfers to decide which model more accurately addresses the parameters they're concerned with. Thanks again for your review.
Thanks for the feedback DD. Yes if they all could be positioned in the same spot this would be the fairest. However the X3 device is very large , therefore the two smaller devices would need to be angled to the side and i didn’t want that to compromise both devices vision and trajectory of the ball.
What if you want the side spin numbers and you are at the range and don’t want to put the dot stickers on the range balls, since you won’t get them back? Can you use it at the outdoor range without the dots and get decent accuracy in side spin readout? How many dots do you get and can you order more or make your own? Thanks.
Hi Ken, It is recommended by Flightscope for accurate spin readings to use the dots. Note that range balls will also perform different to a regular playing ball. They will launch and spin differently. You get 108 metalic dots with the device. You can buy them very cheap online also.
Glove is amazing ! Love it. The mevo plus great but it doesn’t compare to my x3 and the daddy device for battery life, multi-camera integration, putting data. All things i need during lessons. I’d never give up my x3. This is an amazing device for the domestic market, ranks at the top in my opinion
Steve Furlonger Golf Performance maybe one to think about for future. My swing and iron striking has improved since my last lesson. Big stick is still the thing that’s letting my game down :(
one thing I never see is how these compare to actual distances. you're right there on the driving range did you look at where the ball actually landed and where the mevo said it landed?
Steve Furlonger Golf Performance one more quick question as I do my research. Does the unit still work if it is set on a step about 3” above the ball? I am tight on space and if I can sit it a little further back on a small step it gives me an extra foot to meet the listed minimum 7-8’ behind and 8’ in front when hitting to a net.
Hi Matty, depends what you are looking for. The flightscope mevo+ offers more with simulated software and video app via phone or tablet. Skytrak is slightly cheaper.
Thanks Steve for the valuable information.Does that mean you need WiFi on the range or does The Mrvo plus connect to the iPad Pro with Bluetooth ? Regards Richard Foster
Just to let you know - the distance difference is just down to X3 tracking the ball until it lands, whereas the mevo+ tracks it only around 50 yards. Your range is a lot downhill which causes the carry distance to be longer. The ball speeds and club speeds seemed to be really close. I've compared my mevo+ numbers to my trackman numbers they are really close.
@@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance then that is not the reason. I checked how far it should carry with the data from the mevo+ and it should be carrying about 165 yards, so X3 was quite right. The mevo+ has environmental optimizer that takes the current wind, altitude and air pressure into the distance calculation. The mevo+ can think that it is headwind because of the wind direction and the direction the mevo+ aligned. This can reduce or add distance based on the wind mevo+ gets versus what the wind really is.
Don't see how this is a good comparison if both devices weren't running at the same time tracking the same swings. Your swing looks pretty consistent, so maybe it doesn't make much difference.
So I see that it says your range is really down hill. So how far do you want to hit your iron that you’re hitting there on a flat shot? If the mevo+ doesn’t read the ball all the way then why does little mevo pick it up better?
Hi Andy, thank you for the kind feedback sir. I purchased the FS skills app if that is the one that you are refering to (this has turquoise/green/black coloured icon in the store). The FS golf app is free (this has a red coloured icon).

Firmware updates have sorted all issues. Personally I’ve not had any issues with my X3 , flightscope produces great products for the money when compared to competitors
Steve Furlonger Golf Performance understood, however that was the average, if I’m not mistaken, that’s not a misread, that’s a platform issue, either programming or radar problem. I’m sure they took care of it in an updated. Hit’em straight, or at least far!
