There's a very good reason why the grooves had to be added to the Digibeta pinch rollers - You could possibly find out out if you ever do any editing !
Without an ultrasonic cleaner, I've had good results cleaning serrated knobs and dials by putting some of that oxy powder laundry additive stuff in a cup, a drop of fairy liquid and hot water. Chuck the parts in and leave it in the sink for half an hour. The oxy stuff will foam over and all the gunk will float to the top. Out of interest I keep noticing that FA400 soldering fan - are they actually any use? I tend to lean quite close to what I'm doing when soldering and tend to get a face full of fumes.
The soldering fan is mainly used for something else! When I'm de-moulding tapes, some mould gets airborne. This helps capture mould particulates a treat.
Great vid which gives me the confidence to replace the pinch roller myself avoiding a costly service bill. However with my clumsiness I recon I'd drop the clip after removal. Just bought three Dvw-500p:s of which two shows the Error 96. I'm hoping that replacing the memory circuit battery might help. However the service manual advices to store all the setup data on a memory card before replacing the battery, and then reload it when done. I’m wondering what data I will loose if I don’t make the backup? Would that be all the info about running hours etc. from the Setup screen? Or would a hot swap be possible, replacing the battery with the power on?
What a nice thing to do for you :-D I also remember pushing the flap in before removing / fitting the front on some machines. But i no longer have a memory of the brands/models. (Not important to remember i suppose). I dumped all the remains of my vcr crud i had 20+ years back, so i don't have anything useful for you. Anyway, nothing i had was of the high quality machines you have. Remember the full height front loaders with a white pcb and Orion printed on them, yep i did loads of those. Rather cheap but usually easy to fix, often the ff/rew jocky wheel. I did like the ferguson videostar slim front loaders, i never saw one with a bad picture. I did hate the philips front loader with a habit of doing a full deck check when first powered up, annoying. Also the video head drum was pushed on to a shaft, plus a horrible bit of metal with a screw to lock, i stayed away from head changes lol. Ooow a blank tape played white/black random ribbons across the screen, an odd dropout detector/filler.
hi, very nice in watchers sending you the parts to complete the 7350, I just got my one down from the loft and everything works, well kinda. I have a really bad snow on playback sometimes picture jumps, also the s-video out does not send picture But the BNC 1+2 connector to composite does? It records from the s-video in fine, just the playback that lets it down. Following your videos of this machine i have ordered some cleaning fluid and going over a few times your video of replacing the caps. The audio Normal and HiFi record perfectly as i play through my pioneer setup listening with decent speakers and my AKG monitor headphones. If you could help or anyone that may know please let me know would like to restore it back to how it was. It did play ok before it went in the loft a few years ago. Would be a shame to put it back in the loft or sell it off as spares.
You'll have to use the service manual and trace where the S-Video signal is going. Snow on playback, tricky... Check that the head earthing contact is in good order. May be a difficult problem to solve though if it's in the head amplifiers. You could really use a machine to borrow some parts from so you can at least get down to board level.
@@video99couk hi yes a good time ago i could have got a few for like £15 - £30 each, wished i bought them now but as time goes by you just never know whats worth a fortune in the future. There are now non working ones selling for £250-300 i love the old tank built hardware, they just dont make em like they used to :) what would you say now would be a good newer modern player to buy as a replacement?

Digital Betacam you know there was a ad on cost of a in out video card that is hard to find yes the yellow video input cart this first time i seen a working back card i pick up a parts decks there alot of the betacam decks around i have a RCA 1502 I CHANGED BELTS the only thing can't used to deck because all the moving parts are jammed up very badly you know what i have a hell of a job to get going so beweare picking up used deck i did have a hell of time on a betacam sp that was jammed up as well all the tape handling was not going to work i fixed it in the end hell of a job i had one like this it was dead and was not power up it was fee to i did in the end use the parts to make decks that would work again the thing getting deck home is a pain
Is it true that industrial/professional SVHS/VHS machines don't have as good dropout compensator as consumer ones? Because they are not designed to play degraded tapes such as home video rentals and they can't play EP tapes.
@@video99couk EP was available also in PAL. My Panasonic DMR-EX95V can record and play VHS in SP, LP and EP. Rare, but exists, offering 12h in a 240min tape ;)
@@brunomarado890 Yes, thanks for pointing that out, I don't know why I forgot that. There were a very few EP PAL machines made right at the end of VHS. Once I received an EP tape recorded in SECAM, what was really weird, my SECAM machines couldn't play it and of course my PAL EP capable machines played it in monochrome.
hi i watch all your new video's you need some hind of lifter for the heavy betacam digi units i never seen a capstan doller that bad i have a sony that i use for parts same model
hi was on here some time ago. the thing is i was getting alot of emails about gear they tryed to sell me or free gear like techmoen and all man cave do you get fan mail i stopped making video's i was getting stopped in some of the places i shop or when i pick up gear i got asked is the man on here you all the time i know dr jake has fans

Pinch rollers might be modified to prevent cracking as you say possibly the reason it looks different. Use to have modified parts on PC Motherboards

Not as far as I'm aware. EP isn't a thing in PAL land anyway.
