Thats a really clean vehicle. I can appreciate the effort to preserve it. I wish my father cared more about his mustang. He took such horrible care of it. My dream is to restore it because i could totally afford it but i lack the time, workspace and tools.
#LS302 here. Red key provides no lift shifting? Is that true? I never heard that before. I can’t even imagine no lift shifting in a boss. Trans can’t handle gentle shifting. Mine trans blew up at 1500 miles. Best thing about the boss is ford covered the drive train warranty on the track. Drag or road course.
Impressive numbers. I fall into the category of driving these cars and putting some miles on them. That's what Ford built these cars for to be driven and enjoyed. Just my opinion though.
160k on my 2012. Running strong as ever. Literally Only problem I ever had was water pump went out on me and this was about a month or so ago. Fixed it same evening and back to perfect
i agree. but it is nice to occasionally see a nice preserved one example, especially in older cars. its a nice reminder of what exactly the cars looked and felt like when they were new.
@Carbine Element I like seeing that to every once in a while. The lowest mileage car I've ever seen was an 85 LX 5.0 coupe that had only 181 miles. The center caps were never installed, still in the bag they came in from the factory.
That "red" trackey has NOT been activated on that Boss. The display on the video shows mileage, when using a active trackey, the display does not show any mileage. If the trackey was active, the display would have shown "Trackey Active" and "For Track Use Only" alternately every 5 seconds. As for power increase, Edmunds dynoed a Boss with Trackey activated, they then displayed the dyno sheet at the end of the video which showed 416 hp to the wheels.
James - Thanks for the comment. You can click the "reset" button on the 2012 cars which will clear the message center of the TracKey notification. Also, every dyno and car is different. I see variances like this quite often when comparing dyno runs. -Landan
Is it the dyno ? Don’t some dynos read higher or lower than others? my old regular 2012 gt made the same numbers pretty much unless I had a factory freak
The dyno itself and ambient conditions play a role in horsepower and torque variances from car to car. At the end of the day, the primary intention of a chassis dyno is a tuning tool. -Landan
It’s a gen 1 engine. Parts from the road runner engine were used in the gen 2. We are now entering gen 4. Gen 3 made more power than the road runner. Great for it’s time. But nothing compared to the direct injected, higher compression gen 3 yote’s. I disagree with all of y’all.
Those wheels do nothing for the car, sometimes the Retro throwback design doesn't pan out and Ford should put more thought into it. At least they didn't have the wheels pinned in, riding on Pizza Cutters, so their Mustang looks like a fat lady walking on spindled legs and feet - looking back to the SN95 Mustangs, especially the New Edge's will conjure up nightmare images of this feature! 🤮
@Lil' Ike most people actually don't. But yes you're right on the travels miles, I miss interpreted it, as I was listening not watching. When someone says it's got xxx amount of distance on the car they usually abbreviate the overall travel distance as just the first 3 numbers in my country, bit of a lazy habit.
My 2012 Boss 302 just passed 71,000 miles. I drive it as often as possible. Love that engine!
Hell yeah, mine just hit 30k miles and i thought that was low. Keep showing the boss cars.
Rolled over 29,900 on mine last week! Fabulous driving car…
Landan, can you double check the "no lift shift" that you mentioned....I didn't know it was one of the track key features...thanks
nice! miss my 13 boss, mine made 386 hp and 344 torque at 30k miles, but it also had the side pipes open with aluminum 1 piece driveshaft
They are making a come back everyone wants one 😊

If you don't want to purchase the things necessary to restore your pop's car, you can always rent the space and the tools to do it and make time.
Just a awesome car, It does need to be driven though, it hasn't been broke in yet, with 141 miles.
Too cool, I love the BOSS! Keep em coming!
I always wanted a boss 302. Such a cool car.
If I remember correctly all the Boss 302 engines were built with upgraded internals. Like pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and bearings.
Are the 12 different frm the 13?
@@SilentMovements305 Mechanically, no
that engine still needs more break in miles
Crazy to risk damaging an engine on a dyno that wasn't broken in yet.
Another AWESOME dyno!! Those numbers are still very impressive!

Don't think so, the 1le however does provide no lift shift in the 5th gen camaro
Well if u think its a lil low keep in mind it only has 181 miles on it so its a fresh engine needs to be broke in and I bet it will make a few more
This is badass. Put mine on your Dyno!!!

@wynn10 Thats awesome. At the end of the day mileage is just a number, as long as you take care of it properly it'll probably go another 160k.
@@Wynn253 107k on my 2015, same thing with a water pump and that’s it.

Thanks for the tip, so, you reset it before the dyno. Your video is top notch.

My dream car right there 🔥
Still want a white 2012.
Pretty close to what my dads 2012 Boss 302 put down as well within a few horsepower
Can you do that red key with a regular 5.0? I have a 2015 would be dope to say I have a red key! 🔥
Nope, only came on the boss 302😥
Just put red stickers on an 18+ key, yes you can program and 18+ key to a 15-17.
Lmaoooo
How does that key work
Man that's sweet
Engine hasn't even broken in yet.... she'll loosen up once you DRIVE the car!!!

2012 tires too lol

Not quite, the Boss 302 holds it own quite well
Roadrunner engine is the best of the 5.0 displacement engines, bar none. Boss 302 alllllll day.
I would disagree. The Boss is lighter and the road runner is just as strong.

You sure about the no lift shift?
yes it i did it in my boss once, it still isnt good for the tranny but the computer lets it happen, pretty sure it wont let you without the red key.
First I’ve heard of it. I know it disables the skip shift on the 12’s.
@@kevinawptistic1979how did it act when you did it?
Fords states engine power figures, not wheel.
That car has 141 miles bro not 141000 miles lol. We know Ford and every other company rates hp and tq at the engine.
