M1978 1978 the line that gets me is “I see your eyes behind your hair, and you’re looking tired, but you don’t look scared.” Tears me up every time. Incredible.
I just love that Brandi and the twins are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Long long long overdue in my opinion. Love what Brandi is wearing and the colour.
@@bojohnson5387 Phil and Tim Hanseroth. The three of them make up the band and have been with Brandi since the beginning. They have written several of their songs or co-written them with Brandi. Phil actually wrote "The Story" which has been their biggest commercial hit.
People are finally taking notice of this woman’s talent artistry. She’s always seeking the truth in her work. So so amazing her Grammy performance was.
When she says she came out as a teen (it was back in the 90s). Not an easy thing or as accepted as it is now these days. Love that she speaking to it, touches and is healing for so many in our generation.
Growing up in the 80s being a lesbian was very lonely because we just did not talk about it. I did wear a tux to my senior prom in1994..it is now getting better for sure
I hid unfortunately not ready to face what I feared to come. Being a teen in the 90’s was hard enough for me and I just wasn’t strong enough. I envy her strength
I am trying to remember the last time I heard something for the first time that kicked me in the feels as hard as her voice just did. I am shook. Tears pouring down my face. I can't even process how beautiful it is. I wasn't ready
I still am brought to tears everytime. I first heard the song when she was interviewed on Howard Stern and she talked about meeting this boy at a party. She was so drawn to him and his struggles. Besutiful song. Love all her work.
I remember the first time I heard this song. I just cried and cried.. I played it on loop for hours and the impact wouldn't fade. What a song.. what a voice.. what lyrics! Out of this world!
Brandi is my absolute favorite musician. Finally getting the recognition she deserves! But this woman, it won’t change her in the slightest. She’s truly authentic- a brilliant lyricist with a voice like no other!
So proud of you sister!! YOU SMILE BIG WHEN YOU HIT THEM NOTES!! 😭🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Seattle loves you girl! You have and will always melt me. Smoothest sweetest voice ever. ❤️
Nearly 62. Grew up hating country and folk music. Saw Brandi on Jools Holland's tv show. Fell in love with that voice. She transcends styles. Years went by until I bought The Story album. I cried all the way through. She and "The Twins' are special. I now have five albums of hers and I'm desperate to see her live. I don't cry so much now but I just did.
The last time I saw her live I was visiting my aunt and cousin in Asheville last year. They lost everything in Katrina. When they performed The Eye their eyes were just pouring, which of course moved me as well. They are now fans.
I was at that Madison Square Garden show. She packed the house and was phenomenal!! First saw her when she opened for Chris Isaak in Morristown, NJ right after her debut album came out. The sound system shut down mid-song and she kept right on playing. Her voice easily carried to the last row, unamplified. Was fortunate enough to get her to sign the CD I purchased at intermission in the lobby of the venue. One of my prized possessions.
Brandi should have had so much more recognition than she ever received. I do believe she has garnered much respect and awe, not only from the public, but fellow performers. That voice is amazingly beautiful. The Story is my favorite Brandi Carlyle song. She’s just amazing!!!!!
The chord progression of the melody using those b (flat)chords make it so melancholy and gorgeously bitter sweet. It's a great song to cover. Benicio on AGT just did and he killed it.
WOW! A sitdown interview with Ellen! I am so happy for Brandi and I was absolutely positive that, once people heard her on such a far reaching event as the Grammys, her popularity would soar. And so it has! Congratulations to her and the Twins. No one could be more deserving!
I swear this is the most cathartic song in the world. to listen to, to scream, to sing, anything really it makes me cry every time no matter the circumstance
She’s one of the few singer/songwriters that can still bring me to tears no matter how many times I’ve heard the song before. If you haven’t seen her live yet do yourself a favor and check her out...she’s a phenomenal person
Silent Stag She really is. I love her performance at women’s correctional center. I see them later, when they are out, and it makes me feel as good to touch their lives in a positive way
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it while watching Brandi perform it on SNL. I was blown away. It has got to be one of the most emotionally powerful songs I have ever heard.
Been a fan for years but I saw her for the first time last May! This woman is absolutely phenomenal and so so humble! She and the twins deserve every bit of success that comes their way! Her music has gotten me out of so much of my anxiety and depression! Gosh I’m so proud of her! Much love! 💖💖💖💖
They are a certain niche she is too left for country music stations, and too country/folk for pop stations. She’s doesn’t fit into their little compartments. I love her because I love GREAT music and GREAT SONGWRITING. I don’t care what genre it is.
Brandi is the best singer in the whole entire world. SHE HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE EVER. She is an angel and most of all for all this recognition she deserves it more than anyone in this whole world. I LOVE BRANDI
Chills. ❤️ I saw Brandi live in 2011, was standing in the front row and got an amazing photo of her looking at me during a song. She and the twins are so incredibly talented. It’s a memory I’ll never forget. So happy for her!
I just watched this today and cried for joy because WOW! - is this the Coolest song ever or what? Brandi's voice is so pure and SO gorgeous! Love to Brandi 💞💪🎵 ~
i’ve watched her Grammy performance a million times. she sang for all of us underdogs that night. this song touches anyone who has ever been judged, bullied, condemned, or misunderstood by others...in the end, the joke is indeed on them.
Brandi is a gift that keeps on giving. I don’t even know how to put into words how much I love her and how grateful I am for her existence and her music. A legend. We love ya, B 💗
This is wonderful anybody that has ever been put down for who they are or bullied for loving who they are and most of all life. This song is for them TY Brandi
I love how she sings the big notes like is nothing I love how powerful is this without having a band and dancers and beats around is just music and this is beautiful

nothing but a guitar and a legendary voice, AMAZING
Oh hey fellow little monster and Brandi fan!
Luciano Ramos pure music. REAL music. By one of the best singer songwriters of of this generation.
I liked it a lot more in this version , her voice is not competing with more instruments .

OMG yes, I´ve loved her since The Story

It’s a great big world & sometimes recognition just takes time. But it all pales in comparison to getting truly live a dream.

Edward Hannah I heard The Story when I was about 20 and have loved her ever since. She’s truly incredible
Her voice is like liquid gold with specs of diamonds floating amongst one another.
Silent Stag Ooh I love this analogy!
Haha yeah
Silent Stag That’s a dramatic analogy, but I have to agree with it, nonetheless. 🙂 What!A! Voice!
THE VOICE THAT DELIVERS - "THE JOKE" AND "THE STORY" - SERIOUSLY - WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this what imperfectly perfect sounds like? Those little breaks in her voice are just omggggg I cant love her voice enough!

I was expecting her to actually levitate during this performance. Amazing!
When she paused and then BELTED that note… the guitar and her voice came in perfectly and I was blown away. She left me in tears.
Brandi Carlile is the best singer/songwriter in the world today.
When she hit the notes her smile was so beautiful...live and acoustic 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 just wow...it was out of this world.
I just love her. Her voice is only part of her greatness. Her soul is GOOD. Honest and kind. She is rock and roll with tenderness.
This is one of the most perfectly written and smashed-out-of-the-park songs in recent memory 💜
Like Space cowboy or Slow Burn by Kacey musgraves
