First, this looks really yummy! I do like the mix of savory & sweet. I've never had a platano or plantain and only assume they're just a different variety of banana? I'm allergic to banana (it's like having food poisoning) but I can eat them cooked or frozen with little to no discomfort. I used to love them so and it's sad I can't have them raw anymore. I love you're embracing your culture, but for us non-latins all over the world I would love it if you would explain what some of the ingredients are and some of the words you used. Please do more of these videos because you and your mom are awesome together!

LOL sooo I started and subscribed to Mimi G's sewing tutorials but came across this video. You guys are so funny and cute. Not critically(don't be mad at me LOL) but I don't make my pastelon with cheese and as far as seasoning I don't measure either and it's so second nature that I don't even taste my food. I try to make my food as healthy as possible( Spanish cooking is hard to stay healthy) I make my maduros in the oven on a sheet with cooking spray instead of frying them and then just assemble the pastelon. I serve my pastelon with some white rice(just because my husband LOVES rice,like most Spanish peoples)The meat that was left over I would make pastelitos. Mmmmmm now I'm hungry.

Ive never used cheese or ham seasoning but I’m going to try it. I should say I’m Newyorican. Born in NY but both my parents were born from the south side of Puerto Rico. So I won’t argue on how to make this because everybody has their own way of making everything. I’ve taken my my mother and grandmother’s recipes and made them my own. I would love a pastele recipe from your Mom if she has one.
